311 Club is a great place to go for some jazzy, live music. The staff is friendly and it's a cool place to hang out...right near lots of other clubs and establishments. You can go there for awhile, and then move on to hear other live music as well.

I have been down to the 311 a few times to see bands play. I always have the best time there! Good friends, good times! Nothing is better.

this place is run by a goon squad with no brains. They have no manners, common sense, or an ounce of intellect. I'm surprised this joint is still running. I'm really not so sure that it is. I just can't believe it would still be in business after the horrible abuse I've witnessed this joint serve out to the common man. I've seen the manager grab a woman by the throat, and throw her up against a brick wall. I've seen someone who works there beat someone else up right at the door for no reason. The owner and manager should be sued for assault, and put in jail for a couple of years. The grossest place in Austin. VOMIT!
Pros: none no stars
Cons: dirty
The 311 Club has great music, awesome dancing, and friendly service. The blue-eyed young lady that mixed our drinks deserves generous tips!! Some patrons are so rude to the bartenders....don't ya'll know that these "people" work only for the tips you give??? then have to share those with others. So be nice to your tenders and they will be back at you. :) Recommend the 311 to most any type of a crowd. Try it
Pros: Bartenders; music
Cons: parking
Should have read the reviews before going, they are true!! This is the worst bar I have ever been to - the staff is AWFUL and RUDE! There are way too many places on 6th street to go to do not waste your time here.
Pros: none
Cons: rude staff, bad drinks, gross building, awful music
Anyone been here since 2007? Has the service improved? Anyone have a good experience or am I about to have a bad experience going to see a friend play tonight?
Not only is the bartender service the worst I've ever experienced in years of frequenting 6th street, but the bartenders are actually almost comically absurd in the way they treat their patrons.
The service is mind-blowingly slow (question: how long does it take to serve 3 patrons? answer: 11 minutes), the bartenders are horrible at making drinks (weak, poor portions of other mixers), and they're just incredibly rude to each other and their customers.
I saw a guy leave a generous tip on an order that took just under 15 minutes to complete (TWO drinks with LOW volume), sign the receipt, and then was harassed about his signature. He stood up for himself, saying he had signed the tab and that was that, but the complaint from the bartender went all the way up to the afro american manager of the joint who wound up calling the cops. Apparently, you can't sign your receipt with anything other than squiggles that look like a signature. If you sign a decorative X, it's "federal forgery."
The patron was putting his open-palm hands up at chest level as he was talking, saying "that's my signature," and the manager then started to warn him about his attempts at assault. Absolutely insane, just completely absurd. My group of friends and the rest of the patrons there were totally behind the guy (who was being nothing but cooperative and nice) and none of us will ever be going back to that sty again.
You'd have to be out of your mind drunk and have no self respect to think that it's a good idea to go there. It's impossible to have a good time and the staff are uncommonly hostile and aggressive. It's just not worth it to have your mood ruined over such idiocy.
Do yourself and your group a favor by going to a bar with friendly staff who maintain your good time with quick service and a friendly atmosphere. Out of my many years of 6th street, I've never seen anything more retardedly unacceptable or been to a more worthless establishment.
Pros: None.
Cons: Slow service, hostile staff, bad vibe
The bartenders are mean and hostile. They ignore anyone that isn't a regular at this bar and seem mad at the world. One bartender started a fist fight with someone trying to pay his tab and then in the scuffle proceeded to slug an innocent female bystander. This place should be shut down! Avoid this POS at all cost
Pros: NONE bartenders are hostile
Cons: Avoid this place at all cost unless you like to fight
Not only was I called "stupid" for ordering a water at a bar, but I was physically assulted by a bartender. This has to be, by far, the worst bar on 6th street. The waitstaff does not know how to treat customers. Upon trying to close a tab, I pointed to my credit card (because he 'couldnt find it') and he yelled profane words and told me to shut up. When we were walking out of the bar, a fight between a bartender and a customer broke out, and I happened to be standing right next to them. I tried to tell them to stop (the customer was a friend of mine), but instead, the bartender struck me in the back of the head...yes, he punched me. Hopefully, all the waitstaff will soon be forced to leave... Don't go to this bar if you are looking for friendly service or a good time. You will leave with a headache.
Honestly, I'm a person who really values customer service, and I'm also an easy going guy who doesn't get offended easily. However, this place has absolutely the worse staff, and the owner is losing valuable money by not doing anything about it. When a regular customer of 311, a friend of mine, went there with me, the doorman look at her ID and quizzed her on everything. All I said was, "I assure you she's 21." He abruptly replied, "shut your face. I'm not talking to you!" In short, we left and took our business next door to Maggie Mae's. This isn't the only time I've had a bad experience with staff
Pros: Fun Dancing Environment
Cons: Horrible Staff
This little club has alot of style. I'm looking forward to my favorite band, The Jam Project, playing there Saturday night (7/22/06)! It beats the dickens out of some of the larger clubs that have become too sterilized for my taste.
Pros: Unique, good music, full bar
Cons: Parking a little rough
Only visited twice so far, will be returing in the near future. Need more outside bands included in lineup of musicians. House band OKAY, but they need to update their playlist to include SOME of today's R&B. Previous comments on Door staff is right on, they need a course in public relations. Bartender whose been on duty each time I went there was really courteous and professional. I would like to see them serve COGNAC!!
Finally, to a centain band member, you know who you are, if you wife/girlfriend is not comfortable around people having fun, she should stay home and not have customers being escorted out of the lounge! (smile)
Pros: Drink Prices, Live Music
Cons: Selections, More Variety, Door Staff
This is my favorite place in the world to go dance like nobody is watching when atcually everyone is but it doesn't matter cause you have all been drinking!!!
Okay so maybe the doormen are not the friendliest, but other than that this place is a blast. A diverse age group is always seen on the dance floor from early 20's UT kids to 45+. The music is fun and everyone is always singing along while dancing. Cheap beer and it;s always packed friday and sat. nights, so go before 12:30 so you can get in. I always have fun at 311. It has a sexy feel to it. Who doesnt enjoy and cold beer while dancing to "let's get it on"...
I use to have a good time there, about three years ago. Great drinks, great staff. But now none of the staff knows most of the Austin drink recipes, nor do they know good service. The cocktails were rude to me and the singer/owner - Joe Valentine was very rude to his staff. Not a place I'd recommend. Although at times, the music is good and there is always room to dance!
The 311 Club is one of my favorite clubs in Austin. It has the best of Austin's blues artists. Definitely dont miss this one!!! You'll be missing out!!!!!
The staff is rude. The place constantly smells like vomit and/or urine. I've yet to meet a single person who has had an enjoyable experience.
