The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is held once a year in March at the Travis County Expo Center on the outskirts of Austin. They have a carnival, sovenier shops, displays, and the rodeo with famous singers performing after the rodeo every night. The price to enter is about $15 or higher, depending on the seats, and that includes your admission to the Carnival.

Every spring, when the rodeo comes to Austin, I pack up the kids and head out for an exhausting day of rides and fun. We like to watch the shows, which change every year, as well as do that wrist band for the rides. We never stay later than 5-6pm because the kids are usually exhausted by then, but there is nightly entertainment by great country music artists. One of these years, I hope my kids will be interested in staying the entire time so that I can get a taste of what goes on at night!
PROS: Fun rides, reasonably priced (except food), lots of animals
CONS: can be hot, crowded, and smelly
