Reviews for Central Market

Ratings_icons Central Market is overrated

M W.

The food and produce are great. But, for the price I pay, I expect someone to at least bag my groceries in a timely fashion. Here they don't have baggers so either customers get tired of waiting and help out or you wait 10 minutes while the cashier bags your groceries. And the aisles are too small. I mean, come on. I know they want to act like they're an old-school store with the finest and freshest. But what poor planning to have such tiny aisles.

Ratings_icons Best Grocer in Houston

Ben B.

I'm from Nor Cal...Central Market is my savior. Nowhere else in Houston can I find fantastic fresh Baguettes, delicious pate's, a wide selection of cheeses, and the best micro beer selection in Houston.

The butcher has fantasticfresh cuts of meat...the roasted peppers are delicious, and cheap (made outside, buy before you enter). Everything I have bought from CM has been excellent, as it is hands down the best grocery store in Houston. Bar none.

If this grocery store wasn't here, I wouldn't suggest anybody from California move to Houston. This makes it liveable.

The Central Market has an excellent selection of food items from all over the world. I especially like their selection of cookies, fruit juices and cheese. Their prices are a little high though

Ratings_icons Wonderful place but expensive

Vinitha R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,495

No doubt Central market is an excellent place to shop, wonderful foods and vegetables from all over the world. Their fresh fruit juices are indeed amazing, their deli and the olive bar, salasa bar are exceptional, but the prices are little too high for a normal person to afford. A good place if you have big bucks!!

Ratings_icons A good alternative to Whole Foods

Kate B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,450

Compared to Whole Foods, they have better prices on a lot of stuff. I often buy dinner from the prepared food case, although I usually stick to the salads and sushi.

Ratings_icons watch out for the chef's case...

stephanie f. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,884

I shop at central market quite often, probably once a week or so at least. But I cannot buy from the chefs case of prepared dinners anymore, because the last few times the food has been either undercooked or terribly prepared. I do like to stop in and try out the coffees and juices they have to sample, and the have great produce. Overall, it gets my recommendations.

Ratings_icons EXCELENT

Jennifer R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,361

Wine, beer, imported foods, seafood extremely fresh, samples of anything in the store, as well as a help yourself deli area...offering dips, dressings, olives, pickled items. They have great prices , and sell natural and holitstic shampoos, soaps, candles, essential oils....vitamins, herbs, and tons of fresh bveautiful flowers.
