Taqueria Guadalajara Arandas is a Sunday ritual for my wife and myself. Very cheap, very good, and I think their guacamole should be put on the controlled substances list, as we have found it to be immediately addictive. I personally think they have the absolute best al pastor taco in town (likely the U.S., since I've had them most other places in this country and found them inferior...the only place that beat them was in Mexico proper). They also serve nopalitos (prickly pear cactus cooked with onions, cilantro, and lime), which if you've not had, eating them should be added to your bucket list. Their migas are obscenely copious, but make sure you order the potatoes 'extra crispy'...a little soft & mushy if you don't. We love them and the price is right. It is true they are exceedingly busy and sometimes you have to wait, so don't be afraid to call ahead and get some take-away. They also have one of the best red salsas in town. Yes.

Taqueria Aranda's on Burnet is one of several Aranda's eateries in Austin, but this small, taqueria is always busy and the food is simple, delicious, with sizable portions and amazing value. The staff, from waitresses to bus-persons and cashier are pleasant and welcoming. It is one of my favorite Austin dining experiences.
