Dog's Best Friends

by Susan M.

We have had two dogs trained at Taurus, with wonderful results. While the board and train option can feel expensive, the results are worth it, especially if you take advantage of the free follow-up training with their professional trainers. Socializing a dog involves learning how you should behave with the dog as well, and they are experts at reading human behavior and showing you the ways that your own body language may be undermining your verbal commands.

Our dogs have boarded at three different locations and always enjoy their time at Taurus. The staff is genuinely caring and competent, and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. And the dogs have a marvelous time. They are always happy to be dropped off, but happy to see us when we return as well.

Taurus has outgrown location

by Anonymous

Yes it is true, Taurus Lamar has Air Kennels in the hallway and a room with Air Kennels stacked double with the larger Air Kennels at the end of the row. I have been boarding my pet at Taurus since 1998 but asked to look at the facility after a disturbing email alerted me that he would be spending part of his stay in a crate. I had thought that all of these years my 80 pound pet had been in one of the runs. My husband and I travel frequently and it broke my heart to think that he could have spent two weeks in a crate. According the staff this has been the practice for the past several years. Although the staff at Taurus has always been kind and courteous throughout the years, crates for large dogs are just not acceptable.

your dog won't even miss you!

by Lesley S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,564

We took our dog here when we went on our honeymoon (10 days). When we got back, they brought her out and she came and said "hi" to us and then turned around to go back and play some more! We've also used their Doggie Daycare (drop off and pick up on the same day) and they were GREAT for that too. They let them run outside (under a sun cover so they don't burn) and play in dog groups. She even formed her own little friends who she'd play with every day at Daycare. Our dog never wanted to come home with us and as soon as we got through the door, she'd fall asleep. Like the old saying goes, a tired dog is a happy dog!

PROS: the staff are great, the hours are good

Great Doggy Daycare!

by Kristen D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,161

My dog absolutely loves going here. My vet recommended this to us when we had to go out of town. It is a small place and you must drop your dog off for a "trial run" before they are allowed to stay overnight. They want to be sure your dog fits in and is managable. Of course, all dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations, including Bordella.

They way it works is simple. The dogs go out together as a group for about 20 minutes to play and then they come in (another set goes out.) Then they switch about every 20 minutes. They only have office hours in the mornings and evenings (for drop-off and pick-up) since they spend most of the day playing with the dogs. Theirhours are very convienent and they just added hours on Sunday. This is a great plus.

You can choose to just drop your dog off for the day or you can board them overnight. Prices are excellent for the service. My dog comes back very tired and happy!

I have not used any of their other services (like the actual dog training), but I have heard very positive things about it. I believe that they also have a location on the North side. Try them out...you and your dog won't be sorry.
