Very accommodating
by Gaylene B.
I have been to Plates and palates a few times. Every time I have been treated extremely nice. I had some take out made for my son and his new bride to take to their hotel room after the reception. I explained what I was doing to the person who took my order and they fixed it up so nice, in separate containers, so that the salads would not get yucky before they had a chance to eat them. It was a hectic day and I appreciate the attention I received to make their little picnic more enjoyable. The food is always delicious!

A Friendly quaint lunch spot
by Si F.
I have been eating at Plates since they first opened their doors. They have a great variety of yummy salads, sandwiches and desserts. I am not a big soup fan, but can vouch for the other items. Love that they will split and let you order half and half of two salads. My favorites are the pear and pecan, and the Bow tie pasta with chicken and tarragon. Yummy, Anyway, it's a perfect ladies lunch spot. The dinner items look good too, but I haven't made it down for dinner. Highly recommended.

how they treat their customers
by jane s.
The food is good and they have some unique kitchen gadgets. I was a regular customer, but after a recent experience there, I doubt I will return. My 21-year old daughter and I were recently seated at a small table for two right next to a shelf with some kitchen gadgets, some of which were some really cute salt and pepper shakers. When it was time to leave, my daughter whose back was to the shelf, got up to put her coat on. As she was doing so, her sleeve or some part of her coat accidentally brushed one of the salt and pepper shakers to the tile floor and it broke. She felt really bad and we apologized and tried to help pick up the pieces until an employee came with a broom. I hadn't noticed the salt and pepper shakers until this happened. As we went to pay, the employee/owner??? said to me "I'll just charge you our cost on that." I was taken aback and just kind of said "o.k., I guess." While he was running the card, etc, I had a chance to think about it and I told him that they way that the table was positioned so close to the shelf like that, it was really easy for someone to accidentally hit something when they were putting on their coat, which is exactly what happened. (It wasn't like I had an uncontrolled child running through the place.) He didn't seem to care what I thought though, and I paid for the salt and pepper shakers. I didn't even check the receipt to see what exactly I was charged, but that wasn't the point. I am (was) a regular customer there and the irony of the situation is that when I saw how cute these salt and pepper shakers were, I thought of buying four sets of them for friends for gifts. I soon changed my mind.

Plates and Palates is kind of a store where you can get all sorts of 'goodies' for weddings, gift registries and the like. The concept is good, yet the size of the building, and the location leave a bit to be desired. It's in a busy area of town, but it doesn't seem matched to the sourrounding areas.
