I have a lot of pain during intercourse. When I went to see these jokers at Avenue's Women's about it, they told me that my pain must be psychological and that I needed to see a sex/mental health therapist, because everything looked "normal" during the exam. Seriously!?!? I got a second opinion at a different clinic, and was told things looked very red and inflamed - anything but normal! I am now being treated at another clinic for my very physical - NOT psychological - condition. Never going back to Avenues.

After reading some of the reviews I was nervous to try this office but I have not had any of the described "negative" experiences. My wait times have always been less than 15 minutes (except once when I called in the morning and had to be seen same day I waited a half hour).

My first appt was at 9 weeks and I saw the nurse practitioner Shaynee (sp?). It's common to wait to meet the actual OBGYN until you're nearing the entering the 2nd trimester, so that did not bother me at all. We could not find a heartbeat due to my retroverted uterus so she scheduled me to return in 1 week to try again.

My second appt was at 10 weeks and I again saw the nurse practitioner. When we could not find a heartbeat we were sent straight downstairs for an ultrasound. Turns out my baby died at 6 weeks but my body still thought it was 10 weeks along. Shaynee hugged me and sat with us for a while and offered much support. She didn't say much but did sit and console me - what else could she do? She took me to another room and I met with Dr. Gemmell, whom I would have met with 2 weeks later. Dr. Gemmell took the time to explain that the medication prescribed to help my body miscarry was the same as is used in abortions. I never would have connected the two, but I appreciated that she bothered to mention it because one of her patients was harassed by a pharmacy for aborting her baby when it was already dead and her body was not letting it go. Both Shaynee and Dr. Gemmell were very professional in helping us understand that things happen and we can move forward with a little less heartache each day. They even called the next day to make sure I was feeling okay.

My third appointment was a follow up to the miscarriage and I was whisked back as soon as I signed in. I don't know if they did that on purpose or not, but I appreciated that they seemed to care that I might not want to sit in a waiting room full of pregnant women and baby magazines. I was in and out within a half hour.

I think some reviews are a bit unfair - like the whole story isn't taken into account and they have one slightly "inconvenient" moment that fires them up. I take the perspective that the doctor can not read my mind and I need to voice my exact concerns when I am sitting with the doctor or - heaven forbid - nurse practitioner.

I would recommend The Avenues Women's Center to anyone and I look forward to working with them through any future pregnancy I might be blessed to carry.

When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I didn't put a ton of thought into a dr and just quickly looked who my insurance covered. I chose to see Dr Cannon because she was easiest to get in to. In my second trimester I started bleeding so I went in to see her. She made me feel very stupid that I had even gone in and blew it off like it was no big deal without doing an ultrasound. I went home feeling like I had over reacted and decided to go on a walk. About 10 min into the walk I started having a ton of pain and decided to go home. That I night I started bleeding profusely and went into the ER. To make a long story short I had placenta previa which she would have realized if she had just done an ultrasound the first time. Needless to say, I immediately switched drs.

I love Dr. Robinson! She has delivered both my sons and even with a couple of minor complications during delivery stayed calm, kept me calm, and delivered my perfectly healthy boys. I have had amazing care on all of my visits including above-and-beyond follow-up care from one of the nurse practitioners. I love the Avenue's Women's Center and recommend it to everyone!

I was pregnant with my second baby I called Dr. Macy to make an appointment because I was experiencing some fevers, I was told to simply take some Tylenol, I explained to her nurse practitioner that I was very concerned because fevers during early pregnancy can be very dangerous she said it would be fine 3 days later I started spotting once again I called in to be seen and once AGAIN I could not get through to my DOCTOR. I ended up having a MISCARRIAGE, and i believe it was because i did not get the proper medical attention from this clinic. They never called me to check on how I was doing or to tell me if I needed to do any kind of medical follow up. Very very unprofessional and what a disregard for human life. I've never been back since.

Dr. Robinson is absolutely the best! With my first baby i first went to Cottonwood medical center and they were so horrible that I wanted to kill myself! Then I found my Dr. Miracle (Dr. Robinson) she was so nice to me and my husband, very personal and willing to hear me out with my concerns, didnt judge me. She delivered my son, and was so calm and caring. i love her and cant wait to have another baby so that i can go back again.

For an office manager, she is not professional at all. She talks about all the patients behind their backs. Comments on how terrible the patients are. Has nothing nice to say about anyone.
Very fake!

This clinic is way too busy. I always have to wait more than an hour after my scheduled appointment time to see the doctor. And when scheduling an appointment, the next available appointment is months away. "Sorry, we just book up really fast." I mean, come on. It's the first of March and the next appointment available isn't until the end of MAY????? Are you kidding me? The obstetrics patients always get priority (even when it's not an emergency)- those of us who aren't pregnant will get bumped or left waiting...and waiting....and waiting....and waiting.

Went in due to terrible stomach pains. Received an ultra-sound and a "girl" exam and was told to come back. Went back and never saw anyone, was just given the doctor's phone number because no one knew what was wrong. I have called the doctor three times and still haven't heard back. Called the Nurse Practitioner and she told me she had no idea what was going on and I would have to try the doctor again. THANKS for the excellent health care. It's been a week now and still no call back. INSANE.

i liked the nurse practitioner; she was very nice THAT DAY. i went for my first pap smear and was understandably nervous for that and other reasons. she sent me home to consider a form of birth control. i was supposed to call back and say if i wanted it or not. i NEVER heard back about that.

just billing issues...unfortunately had a tough time just after that as money was short. i was able to pay evantually and went to the online billing mentioned in the bill. i paid up. well, here it is 29 DAYS after the it cleared. and there is no knowledge of it. i called and thoroughly explained it. i'm still being bugged about it. toooooooo toooooooooooooo wrong...

Dr. Cannon at the Avenues Women's Center has been my doctor for over four years. She has delivered 2 of my babies. She is always very personable and willing to answer any questions I have. Her staff are very helpful and nice. I have never had any problems getting in to see the doctor. She also has several nurse practitioners that work with her. The ones I have seen have been very nice and knowledgable as well.

I was referred to this Center and decided to try it out and make the long commute. They were very good and worked together. If my doctor was delivering a baby then another would fill in so I didn't have to go back. I didn't have that special bond with any of the doctors like I wanted and they didn't do anything to "wow" me. So, I will probably not be making the commute to go back there for our next baby.

I think this clinic has way to many patients then they can care for. I went to this clinic for a year and never once met my doctor. I have had allergies to birth control in the past and my nurse practitioner prescribed me a progesterone only pill as a "test" to find out what part of the hormone I was reacting to. After filling my prescription I found out that my mother had a stroke when she used that same pill. Not knowing if I should still start the birth control I called the clinic three times and left two messages for my nurse practitioner. My messages and calls were never returned and I will never return to that place again. They didn't seem interested in providing me with care.

I am amazed at some of the poor reviews, but I suppose it depends on the doctor. Dr. Macy was by OBGYN for a few years before delivering my 2 children. She has always taken the time to make me feel like I got my questions answered. Sometimes, she had to run out and deliver a baby, so her nurse would take over. She was also great! Although the wait can be long, that is the way it is in every doctor's office I've ever been to. Dr. Macy and her staff are caring and provide exceptional care!

I have been a patient of Dr. Beards since 1990. She delivered all 3 of my children. The first two with no complications, the third had some problems that were taken care of within the first month, but this wasn't any ones fault, just bad luck.

Yes, I agree with the other posters that the doctors seem to be in a time crunch always, but the nurse practitioners are very helpful, and will answer or find an answer to any of your questions. They have always been proactive in their care of me, I don't have any major problems, when they have seen things that don't look right, they help me get the treatment or tests I need. I was told from the very beginning that I would see the doctor as a new patient, then unless it was an obstetrics visit, I would see the NP, unless there were problems. I was fine with this, as I understand the education the NP's go through, they are more than competent to take care of patients. I moved to another city for a few years, and was so happy with this clinic, I drove 55 miles to come to my appointments for two years. I am happy with this clinic and Dr. Beard.

Pros: Proactive Nurse Practitioners

Cons: Busy Doctors

I went to this clinic because it was close to my work. They were efficient, but totally uncaring on any sort of personal level. I felt I wasn't listened to toward the end of my pregnancy and they dismissed my symptoms as typical end-of-pregnancy discomfort. I was a week overdue and really felt I had preclampsia. All I can say is I'm glad I listened to my instincts instead of the idiot nurse because I did have preclampsia and really had to advocate for myself to get the medical treatment I needed. Needless to say, its not worth the risk for me to ever use this clinic again.

I would not recommend this place unless you are pregnant. I've seen a lot of doctors and I've never been so offended and horribly treated in all of my experiences. My nurse practitioner spent more time telling me about how fat I looked and new diets she was trying out while I sat in that ridiculous paper gown, waiting for the examination that came 30 minutes later.

I was told that this place is better than some places in West Valley City. I would prefer Copper Canyon Women's Center by Pioneer Valley hospital. I always had to wait over an hour or two. My chart is always missing. Doctor Laine is worse than her nurse. She will only take 2-5 minutes and never answer to your questions. She will expect you to find your own answer on google or something. Receptionist always reading some books,
Come on, call your patients make sure they are reminded for their appointments or make sure everyone who is leaving would be able to set their next appointment. Maybe other doctors are better than this, but this time I am just cannot wait to see my baby and will not come back this place. None of my friends will go there for sure, unless they improve greatly. That might take years and years of work sadly.

Where do I begin:
1. Unresponsive and rude staff
2. Don't plan on talking with an actual doctor. They have way to many staff that often talk first, and don't listen to what is really going on with you.
3. Upon meeting with them on specific issues, nothing was ever dealt with. The response was to always schedule another appt or to call back, and then you deal with a PA who spews stuff off before she even looks at your chart, and then goes, "'..oh yeah.."

While I like the doctors, it is a real pain in the neck to get an appointment without having to wait 3 months. I tried making an appointment in February - the first available was at the end of May/first part of June. Another time, I called in September - can't get in until a week before Christmas. The reason is obstetrics patients take priority...and when you finally reach the day of your appointment, more often than not, you will be stuck waiting for over an hour because of an "emergency" with an obstetrics patient. Now, mind you, an emergency definitely takes priority but... when the first time mother's baby has hiccups, that is NOT an emergency and she should have to wait just like the rest of us.... this has happened more than once. I just wish that somewhere, in Salt Lake, there was a woman gynecologist who does NOT do obstetrics.

I started going to The Avenues after my first child was born. I had had a horrible experience and had felt my c-section. When my daughter (now almost 7) was only 3 months old I found out I was pregnant again. I switched to The Avenues that day. They were incredibly helpful and caring. The were very professional and able to handle my questions and concerns. I used them for babies number 2 and 3. Now I live 500 miles away, but still make the drive once a year for my physical. They can't be beat!
