Ratings_icons Bad Meat

Kendra W.

Kents does sells bad meat! I bought pork chops for .99/lb, rib eye 2.99/lb, and ground beef for 1.49/lb in the last four weeks and they have all been bad. When I returned them the man said I don't even want to smell them this is not the first time he has seen this. I talked to the meat manager he said "they have gotten bad meat from their supplier. that is how they get great deal, but there is a reason for the great deals." If you have bought bad meat keep it and call the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food 801-538-7100. I too have loved saving money at Kents but when it could hurt my family it is not worth it. I will no longer buy from them any longer!

Ratings_icons Employees beware

Mr. Clyde R.

My son worked at Kent's in Roy and was fired today. I don't understand why he was fired and he said it was because a guy named Chris told my sons boss that he wasn't working. I find this hard to believe my son would go to work at 04:00 am and to my knowledge worked his shift with little to no issues. As a manager you shouldn't fire people just because you can or because of another employees telling the boss mis-information. So, if your son or daughter works for Kent's in Roy ( Beware ) Trust no one and understand that it's a temporary job.

Ratings_icons Kent's Foods is a place i enjoy shopping :)

kara m.

I enjoy Kent's market....i like using them for hiden specials that you wouldn't normally find in bigger chains....they also carry western family which i like. The employees have always been so nice.....even the young kids who are in their teen years which is hard to find! I would like to comment on the woman who was upset about her son being turned down a job due to his "scheduling conflicts" working weekends, including sunday, is part of life lady, you may not like it but you can't expect life to conform around you and then become upset because things don't turn out the way you want it. Sure working sunday may bite but thats society and just think of all the oppurtunities you are robbing him of by not "allowing" him to work sunday's. It's called the real world lady.....

Ratings_icons Beware the mold!

jena w.

Yes it is convenient as far as location if you live in west haven or roy area but 90% of the times I have gone there I have returned home to find that at least one food item had mold on it. I don't know if there teenage workers are too lazy to rotate food or it the temperature settings are wrong. just yesteday our hot dog buns were moldy on a few of them and a hot dog was green! I recommend winegars which is like a 5 minute extra drive.

Ratings_icons Do Not Buy Their Meat

Ran G.

I have had the unfortunate experiences of buying chicken and Steak from this store. The latest was Purchasing Steaks from them and after Grilling them they tasted rotten. I went back and they said that they would do nothing without a receipt. I had the tag off the meat. Who keeps their grocery receipts. I have had problems with their steaks and once with their chicken. SO BUYER BEWARE AND KEEP YOUR RECEIPT.

Ratings_icons Kent's Market Hiring

Anonymous

I have enjoyed going to Kent's ever since it opened because of the convenience. I am not, however, pleased about it's hiring practices. My son applied for a job there and put on his application that he wasn't able to work Sundays. He's checked in with them a few times to see if they were still hiring. Today I inquired about a job for him there. The woman behind the counter took down his name then asked me if he was willing to work weekends. I told her he could not work Sunday. This is because it is the sabbath. She plainly told me, as she crumpled up the paper she wrote his name on, that they would not hire him if he won't work Sundays. She then tossed the paper in the trash and explained that most of their business occurs on the weekends. Needless to say, I was not pleased and informed her that I thought that was a terrible practice. This hasn't happened just at Kent's Market but just about everywhere else my son has applied for a job. It's too bad. He's a hard worker and an honor student at school.

Ratings_icons Just the place to go to get away from the Mega Superstores.

Justin B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,173

I like Kents market because its the place to go when you don't want the headache of a superstore. They have all the groceries I need. With the Exception of Milk prices have been pretty much on par with the big guys.

The Employees are very friendly and helpful. The store is laid out well and I am able to find everything I need. They have a bakery that makes donuts on site. You can see them through the window making them.

They even have some of the things the super mega stores have. This would include, developing film, video rental, and a floral department.

PROS: Competitive prices without the Headache of a superstore.
CONS: Milk is more expensive there.

Ratings_icons Local grocery store

They have really good meat prices, especially the sales ones. I like to buy the chicken tenders for $1.99 per pound. They don't have many specialty products though.
