great brews
their magnificent selection of microbrews (Polygamy Porter - rich, thick and chocolatey) and standard pub fare (burgers, chicken fingers, soups, salads) they also offer a Thai Yellow Curry and a Pan-Asian Stir-Fry which became my staples during the time we were there.
They have an enormous, high-ceilinged, 3-leveled space, and are very skillfully and patiently able to accommodate 15-20 people at any one time with ease.

Good Beer, Bad Food
The beer is excellent, and this is good because I think you may have to be drunk to enjoy the food here. Not everything is bad, the artichoke dip is great, the fish and chips is decent. I did however, get chicken strips for my son, they were terrible, so bad, I requested to not have to pay for them. Their burgers are pretty tasteless and the fries are average.

Best Brew Pub in... Utah?
I use to come here only when I had friends from out of state just so I could show them that we actually have brew pubs in Utah. But interestingly enough, over the years the food's gotten much better and the menu has expanded. I use to frequent Redrock for better food, but that is clearly not the case now. The Buffalo Burger is awesome, as are the fish tacos. There are a plethora of superb specials and there is a beer for just about every beer lover's palette. In a phrase, I am very impressed with the improvements made at Squatter's.. it's the best brew pub in the state.
PROS: creative menu, dark beers are awesome
CONS: parking can be iffy

Spotty Food Poor Service
My husband and I frequent Squatters fairly regularly. Or, I should say we used to. I enjoy their turkey burgers. When they are done correctly, they are flavorful and incredible juicy. I generally choose the side salad rather than fries (fries are bland, even the garlic fries.) They ALWAYS insist on plating the salad with the burger. This would not be a problem if the salad were not sitting underneath the heat lamp until it is hot, wilted, and disgusting.
Service - the service is poor and unattentive. I cannot tell you how many times we just have our menus thrown down at us while our waitstaff sips on her drink behind the bar. We can sit and gaze longingly at our food under the heat lamp while the wings become soft and lukewarm, or our sald become nice and warm.
The hostesses and the wait staff are not concerned with customer service. And apparently as the service continually slides downhill, neither does management. I like the food and the location but the spotty quality and horrible service make it a difficult recommend.
Pros: Great Beer Selection
Cons: Service is terrible - food can be great or horrible - food is generally not hot.

Terrible Food Terrible Service
A bad food night. My friends said their hamburgers were pallatable, but the rest of the meal was a total disaster. The food is bland, and uninspiring. I couldn't eat the pathetic artichoke dip- heavy cream served with very stale bread. The order was wrong, for everyone at the table. A true disaster of an evening.
So bad, I didn't bother saying anything to the manager because there is no way this resturaunt can redeem itself. I will never go back.
Pros: decent garlic fries
Cons: food is bland at best, service is awful, and a level of unwarranted pretention

Bad service swayed my opinion in the red for an otherwise nice place.
Squatters was the restaurant we wound up in during our first two visits to Salt Lake City while house hunting. On our first visit we waited in the foyer for probably three or four minutes before someone acknowledged us and took us to a seat. Not a long time, but we were the only people there. The host was just chatting with other employees. After we were at the table the service was pretty slow. I'm usually pretty patient, but this was disappointing. Though our first visit revealed poor customer service, we believed it would be a isolated incident and returned to Squatters on our second visit when it was convenient to our location for lunch. Our second visit to Squatters, probably three weeks later, we again waited several minutes while a different host yapped it up with other employees, ignoring us waiting to be seated. This time, once we were at the table, NO ONE came to offer us ANYTHING for ten minutes (yes I really timed it). We wound up walking out and no one even realized we had left. It was as if we were invisible. I was disappointed and it greatly influenced our take on the people of Salt Lake City. The food we received on our first visit was not bad at all. A slightly original take on American, "casual dining" / bar food. We liked the food, but the service was terrible. They were not really busy. We visited on a weekday night and again for lunch. Though several people love Squatters, I'm thoroughly turned off by their apparently very poor management / customer service. I don't expect special treatment, but I'd at least like to be treated with basic respect. I would not recommend Squatters and will not return.
Pros: Nice micro-brew atmosphere, pretty good, original food
Cons: Very poor service, extremely poorly managed restaurant

Yummy beer good food
Squatter's has some good beer. And the food's not bad either. I ordered the fish and chips off their late night menu a few weeks ago. They were flaky and good. My friend got the calamari appetizer. It was big enough that he kept it as a meal. Squatter's is a good place to go for beer and pub food.

Bad and I mean BAD, food and service.
My wife and I used to frequent Squatters on a regular basis, before moving away for a number of years. After our return we went back to the familiar and what used to be a great eating establishment. Boy, were we disappointed. The service was horrible. Our apps came out about 30-40 minutes after we ordered, then our entrees came out separately, spaced by about 15 minutes. Obvioulsy one of the meals was forgotten or worse. No explaination or apology, just business as usual. My wife ordered the fish and chips, on the memory on how good it used to be. It was so nasty, upon taking a bite, I was forced to eject it into my napkin. Dinner turned into a two hour ordeal that was completely awful on all fronts, plus the added stress of thinking we just ate some bad fish. The beer is still good, and I would recommend having a few pints and leaving for a better run place to eat your dinner.
Pros: The beer is still as good as ever
Cons: The food and service couldn't get any worse
