I heard good things about Susie M's so, after years of delay, finally went to them to get my first tattoo.
It was a pretty basic custom tattoo but could not be altered in any way or it lost all meaning.
He did up the copy and stuck it on my arm, seemed pretty confident about the whole thing and got started on what should have been done in under an hour.
About an hour into the tattooing he stopped and had a more senior artist take over because he "lost control" of his hands.
I was worried, but hoped that the mistake was minor and let them continue, as it was apparently almost finished.
After 3 hours of tattooing I was told to take a look and found that the tattoo lines were inconsistent in thickness, not smooth, and that at point someone's hand had clearly slipped and ruined part of the design. The senior artist (who I believe would have done a good job had they started from scratch) was very apologetic and explained that they'd done what they could with what had already been done.
I went for a cigarette and tried to alter the design without affecting the meaning. I thought I came up with a workable solution (though definitely not at all preferred) so he finished up in another 30 minutes.
They agreed to only charge me the deposit and I left. On my way I noticed a serious error in the design (equate-able to spelling a name incorrectly!) and went back to demand the rest of my money after having a good cry about it. This is not fixable without having it lazered and hopefully only touched up but probably completely re-done by someone else.
On my return I was told to "go f*ck myself" and they said I couldn't have my money back. I refused to leave. After the artist who had ruined the tattoo in the first place marched in to get my deposit and the form I signed to show me the money (they had no intention of returning) I took it and left.
My tattoo looks like it was done by a child and it no longer means anything. They were extremely unprofessional considering the outcome of 3 1/2 hours of wasted time and a permanent mark on my body I will regret until I have saved enough to get (at least part of) it removed.
Even if you are booking with someone else I would be very wary of recommending you ever go there. After being scarred and treated so unprofessionally I am going to find it very hard to ever go anywhere ever again.
Jed is unskilled, unprofessional and unapologetic. Do not ever, ever go to him.
