I am a veteran XC rider from the east coast. My experience with PSB was quite good. The bikes, rocky mountain element 30, that we rented were not necessity in mint condition but good working order. the wheels were true, drive train shifted well but some rub on rear brake---i fixed that in a jiffy. Free of charge, they supplied me with spd-pedals and my friend with a helmet and a new water bottle. Staff gave us advice on trails and were generally pleasant. Although i haven't tried the other shops in Moab, i would return to PSB.

Nice staff and equipment on the front end.
The negative sales pitch came upon returning.
While biking I did a 1/2 foot hop at ~ 10mph onto a higher area.
I got a flat in my rear tire. While changing the tire I noticed
there were small sharp ~ hairs. I don't know that they were prickly pear cactus "hairs", but they were something like that.
They were the source of the leak, having caused a small puncture and slow leak after my small hop.
After returning to Poison Spider I shared what had happened They put the bike on the stand and then purported to show that the rim was bent; allegedly related to my flat. I told them it was a small hop and that the flat was due to the ~ hairs; I told them I was not interested in a shake-down. Even this was not enough.
It was only when I went to dig the disposed tube out of the dumpster, to prove my claim, did they agree not to charge me.
If you face a shake-down scenario contact the AG &/or BBB office in Utah.

Friendly staff and good bikes, except that my back brakes made an annoying squeal every time I used them. Beware!!!! I was charged $40 for minor scratches on two of the bikes that I rented. I won't be poisoned by this spider again!

while Poison Spider has nice bikes and good staff be very careful in your rental agreement as they choose to gouge me on damage fees due to scratches. I suspect they try to earn damage fees on all their bikes so be careful if you get a nice, new, clean one!

Poison Spider is the best bike shop in the mountain biking mecca of Moab, Utah. They sell equipment, rent equipment, and give excellent advice on trails in the area. The staff is passionate about the sport and it shows through in their dealings with customers. Great shop.
