I don't love the Market Street Grill. The food is overpriced and the lobster I had there did not live up to my expectations. I will say that the fresh tuna I bought there at the fish market was excellent, you will not find better fish in the valley. But as for food, I wouldn't bother. Go down to their downtown restaurant if you want to pay this much money.

This restaurant is expensive and the food wasn't that great. Of course it was 5:30 p.m. on a Friday night. Still, usually at that time at most restaurants we can get seated. We had to wait for 45 minutes to be seated. It was a very expensive for the meal you got restaurant. I had the early bird special and it cost $17.99. It was clam chowder and a salmon dish. The salmon didn't have that much flavor. The waiter was slow getting to us. We sat for a very long time waiting for our food. This isn't a great place for children either. I couldn't see why so many people like it.

PROS: seafood
CONS: expensive, long wait

Market Street Grill is known for their delicious seafood, and when you eat there, you'll certainly understand why! My husband and I enjoy going mainly for their seafood, but the only drawback is the service. It is "hit or miss." More than half the times we've gone, we've received poor service. Poor as in, we are always trying to track down our server to fill up or drinks or to bring us condiments or to simply bring us our bill. It doesn't stop us from going though, we have learned to ask for a good server when we meet the hostess upon entering the restaurant. This usually helps.

Prices are higher than most other seafood restaurants, so don't let that shock you when you get the menu. You can order other things beside seafood--they have a pretty good selection of items to choose from. We always use the valet parking--it is easier.

The Market Street Grill has some of the best seafood in all of Utah. Fabulous shrimp, lobster, and halibut are all on the menu. The salads and clam chowder are wonderful! The prices here are pretty steep ( $15-$50) depending on what you order, but you will enjoy every single bite! Parking is to the west, or you can valet park.

Oh! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Halibut & Eggs Benedict, best sause in town! Salmon and blueberry pancakes! DIVINE! Waffles, almost to crispy toast, CLEAN! Service pros like Rebecca, Ilona, Dave, Angelia, Severn, I wish I could list YOU ALL! Thanks for feeding me almost daily at the counter for a little price. and your coffee rocks too! But arrive before 11AM or you'll have to order from the luch menu. (and begin to pay for parking if it isn'ty christmas) - Too busy on Sunday, (and NO toast- only tose orange muffins) so go to the Cottonwood location on that day between 9-10AM for the $5 special seafood omlet with asperagus! This is review for Cottonwood branch. This is my first visit to SLC, and I absolutely love Market Street Grill. The food, service, and ambiance is just impeccable and is even better than the restaurants in NYC. Our server is extremely professional and courteous. I was extremely impressed with the service and food. Will definitely come back and recommend to all my friends.

The dessert, bread and clam chowder were great. The quality of the seafood varied. For that much money I expect great food. The tables were too close together. I felt like I was sitting on the man's lap who was sitting at the table next to me. Every time the waitress served the man next to us, her butt was in my face. I won't go back.

The steaks are overpriced $34 for a "usda choice" new york steak!come on for that price you should get Prime.
The rib eye was a bit though and the sauces are watery.
The desserts and bread were really good.

Expensive but good, my tuna was great. My boyfriends lobster was amazing! However $40 for a lobster tail is a lot. I've been to restaurants around the same $$$ and liked them better...I guess I just wasn't that impressed. Service was good though...my boyfriend liked it... it's not a place that I would go to again and to me it didn't live up to it's reputation. However, I didn't dislike it..

My husband & his family are big seafood eaters (whereas I am not), so we've gone to Market Street a couple of times since it is has the reputation of being the best seafood in the state. Not so...the non-seafood items are all sub-par; not a bit of deliciousness cooked into them - its like their way of punishing those of us who dislike seafood. And according to the rest of our group, not one of the seafood plates was exceptional. Even people I know who have once been big Market Street fans have started to steer clear because it has apparently gone downhill as far as taste. If you want the seafood, I would recommend buying from their fresh market & cooking it at home.

My friends and I went to this restaurant because it was the only one without a 90 min. wait. Bit mistake. We still ended up waiting more than 90 minutes for our main course. Our drinks were slow, our waiter continually forgot to fill glasses, and brought chowder we didn't order and forgot twice the olive oil and vinigar that we did. The food was all awful. My friend's black bass looked like jerky. My other friend's dishes tasted like they were made with canned spegetti sauce. Normally I like lightly salted food, but the chef forgot to add any salt to my food at all. The waiter at one point left our table unattended for over 1/2 hour. This was overall the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, and except for exceptional company the night would have been ruined. Please spare yourself and dine anywhere else, even if it means waiting 90 minutes for a table. You just might have to wait 90 minutes to eat here anyways.

Pros: The wine list. That was it's only redeeming factor.

Cons: The service, especially the food, everything else.

.

We went there despite the negative reviews especially the grim reviews about the service. Alll the waiters were attentive and smiley. We had two waiters and both were excellent. The food was out of this world. We were tired of overly salty food, so this restaurant was just perfect. We had Key Lime pie and Almond torte with rasberries. They were the best desert we've ever had!

Sunday brunch is a great all around experience at the downtown Market Street. Being on the list of "our regular spots", I have only been disappointed by the food on a single ocassion. Most times it is totally amazing. I especially like to substitute the au graten potatos for what ever comes with my dish. (Same potatos that I miss from the old Bacci restaraunt!) This place tops my list for fresh fish. The atmosphere is great.

I eat here when I visit Salt Lake every year. The food is always excellent, no matter which item I choose. The service, however, ranges from excellent to so-so. Last time the service was so bad I complained to Gastronomy corporate management (luckily I could remember her name). The good part was that management was responsive to my complaint. I'll still go back there, but not if I'm in a rush.

This is "NOT" the place! We were more than happy to recommend this place to friends, family and especially out of town guests. However it's all gone to the dogs. Service has progressively declined over the past 2 years. Food & price is fair, however the servers are forgetful & il-mannered. The hostesses at the front desk are incredibly rude dispite making reservations. Nothings changed even after a few calls to the corporate office. Please get rid of the bimbos that try to play hostess. They spend most of their time talking on their cell phones & painting their nails. Hire some efficient workers who really want to be there & provide the excellent customer service Market Street built its reputation on.

My family was here visiting from the east coast and all agreed this was the best meal we had all week! Make sure you get in before 7 for the early bird specials for $16.99. Truly worth the price no matter what you get. I don't like fish and this is one of my favorite restaurants (the prime rib is wonderful), so don't let their extensive fish menu scare you if you don't like it. Only drawbacks: Gets noisy when it's crowded can take over an hour to get a table if you arrive after 5:30 (although they now have call ahead seating), and some of the waiters have been rude.

Normally the seafood is quite good here, however the poor service roughly balances out to make for a sub-par dining experience. If you are tempted to try Market Street, I highly recommend you choose *only* from the fresh seafood selection. The last time a guest and I attempted to order filet mignons (the most expensive cut), the waiter brought out cheaper New York sirloins instead. We questioned the waiter since these were obviously the wrong steaks, and he assured us three times that they were definitely filets. Only after convincing him to ask the chef did he finally cop to the fraud and admit that they were sirloins. Fortunately they did discount the meal as a result of this, but had we not made such a big issue we would have ended up getting ripped off.

'Had a fantastic seafood omelette for breakfast on one ocassion. The same omelette for Sunday Brunch was unrecognizible. Eggs Benedict; cold on a warm plate. What happened? Orange juice costs as much as a breakfast food order. What's up with that? Are the low food prices that reasonable, if the food isn't? Go to Jeremiah's instead.

We've eaten at Market Street Grill regularly for years now and have never had an off night. It is consistantly good at both locations.

The service can be a little iffy and it is noisy, but the food more than makes up for it.

Seafood in the middle of a desert seems a bit oxymoronic, but with that Delta connection securing fresh fish flown in daily, you can be assured great quality seafood.

Some of the best Crab I've ever eaten, and that includes the coast. Love their Calamari, Chowder bread offering & cockles. Always a winner for us.

My partner and I enjoy the diverse non-judgemental environment all Gastronmy Restaurants provide. The Gay waiters are always the best, and extremely attentive. Market Street Downtown and in Cottonwood provide a very comfortable experience for everyone. Although I feel that the downtown experience is much more diverse and accepting of all people. The Cottonwood location provides excellent views and has a similar feel. Oh, and the food is great!

We actually went to the one in Cottonwood. We waited over an hour and were seated right next to the kitchen, where servers were constantly walking by. We ordered the crab cocktail which was good. The clam chowder was runny with hardly any clams. We both ordered the halibut oscar for $23, not very tasty! The halibut was deep fried and it came out cold! Our waitress was awful, hardly paying any attention to us at all. The final bill was $70 plus a tip, for this kind of money we could have gone to Carvers, McGraths, Outback or Red Lobster (their seafood would have been awhole lot cheaper and lot tastier). Overall, I would NOT recommend Market Street Grill, it is overhyped and not very good!

Great food, acceptable wine list, neato waiters, and a Menu worth looking at for more than 4 seconds.
Fish is fresh, which is a definite plus factor. Lobsters are meaty, not water logged from being frozen for months on end. Enough ambiance to make tipping well a fashion statement, not a snide comment. Not worth flying from Paris, France for dinner, mind you, but driving down from Logan is reasonable and sane. Utah lacks many things, but this eatery makes up for several.

Enough ambiance to make tipping well a fashion statement, not a snide comment. Not worth flying from Paris, France for dinner, mind you, but driving down from Logan is reasonable and sane. Utah lacks many things, but this eatery makes up for several.

Pros: good food, good parking, reasonable prices

Cons: families with kids, screaming babies, Dentist Office music

Sorry, but you have to specialize in fries in order to be good at them. Market Street Grill good at soooo many things. Not frys though.

I was unimpressed by Market Steet Grill. I found it way to overpriced for the quality of the food and service. I have definately had better even here in Salt Lake.

My family loves to dine out all the time and have tried several breakfast or Sunday brunch places, and this is simply the best restaurant overall - menu selection, prices or value, ambiance, service, cleanliness, the people - and it is perfect for people like us who do not go after unlimited buffet breakfast, but quality, gourmet food at very reasonable prices. The complimentary fresh-baked, warm, cinnamon rolls for a start are just wonderful! We highly recommend it!

This is a very good place to go to have good food & good times. The food truly is delicious!! Everything that we have ever ordered there has been great. The only downfall is the service. They aren't bad by any means , they just don't match the food. They know that there will always be customers so it's kind of .............. you will get the service you get and nothing more because we are busy people. They are just average no extras!
