Ratings_icons Town & Country Animal Hospital saved my dog's life!!!!

C W.

When my dog needed emergency intestinal surgery, Dr. Stocks stayed late into the night to perfom surgery, and still found the time to call after she finished that night and again at 8 am the next morning! She did a fabulous job, and my dog went from death's door, vomiting blood nonstop to 100% normal in a matter of 2 days!!!!!!! I would highly recommend this vet!!!!

Ratings_icons Dr. Hall is the best!!!

Mary C.

Dr. Davis Hall is the absolutely best! My husband and I go to Dr. Hall at both his Town and Country and his Columbia Pike animal clinics and we would not go anywhere else! We are animal rescuers and not only have several pets of our own over the years, but also have foster pets that we take to see Dr. Hall. He is a very wonderful and very, very compassionate vet and just A+++ all the way around!

Ratings_icons Dr. Davis Hall is the best, let me tell you why

V E.

There is nothing more important than the animals to the philosophy that Dr. Hall senior has centered his practice around. He is absolutely the best. Here are just a few things that make his practice so special. He will match price ANY internet drug price, try to find a vet like that! He will always perform and charge you for minimum possible. He is a brilliant clinician, his expertise and experience are far from ordinary ( I am a doctor myself and have a large sample size to compare). His communication skills, his lack of judgement and his ability to be of help regardless of the situation make him very special. I have read some of the other reviews having to do with other physicians/staff in his practice, he is not moral police and can not be held accountable for every tiny inadequacy of every staff member. He and his clinics are truly one of a kind! Thank you for all of your hard work and your dedication Dr. Hall!

Ratings_icons T&C Not a Pharmacy

Lucy G.

I was disappointed when calling T&C, the receptionist was rude. I am new to the area and called to see if T&C carried the prescriptive diet to purchase for my dog and schedule a later visit. I was told that T&C was not a pharmacy and that they wanted to charge $58.00 to see my dog before dispensing food. It seems T&C priorities are purely money and not the pet's best interest.

Ratings_icons Many Years Experience

Deanna S.

Have been going there a long time for multiple dogs & cats. Generally, very good experience, particularly with Dr. Hiss, Dr. Cheramie and Dr. Reid Hall. I did get overcharged for double the x-rays they actually did, which I resolved at reception. I could tell the x-ray tech was nervous, making me think the overcharging had happened before. I had very negative experiences with Dr. Sharma & considered leaving the practice but made SURE not to accept appts. with her. I've had 4 rescued stray dogs, 2 cats same, so I don't know their past(s). Dr. Cheramie et al very quick to identify Lyme Disease for my new limping dog, and treated my elderly lame dog, diagnosed giardia, torn dewclaws, old hip injuries, a pound of chocolate eaten and the usual dog disasters. I'd recommend them but you have to discuss & approve all tests (as you should for yourself!) and make informed choices.

Ratings_icons Dr. Davis Hall is the best...

I have several pets and have been taking them to Dr. Davis Hall for over 20 years and have never had an bad experience with him. I have however had to see a couple of his other vets there when he was not available and was not too happy with them. I trust Dr. Hall with my pet's care and I know he would not do any treatment that was not needed. His prices have gone up but they are still reasonable. I don't know what I will do if and when he ever retires!!

Ratings_icons Dr. Hall is the best!

We take our pets to see Dr. Davis Hall and his staff at both Town and Country and Columbia Pike Animal Hospital in Annandale, even though they are not conveniently located to us. Dr. Davis Hall is not only a very experienced vet, but charges reasonable prices and is a very honest and incredibly nice person. We have gone to many local vets over the years before going to Dr. Hall and I would not take my pets anywhere else now. We just can't say enough nice things about him! - Mary C.

Ratings_icons Neutering Too Expensive

Anonymous

Brought in my kitten for check up and found Dr. Stocks not has experienced. Kitten routine was standard so I was not worried. I would not feel too secure nor have the confidence with Stocks for any surgeries my pets would require. Staff was friendly and they enjoyed playing with my pet. I inquired about cost for neutering and they do not participate in low cost neuter program. The cost is higher than other Animal Hospitals in Fairfax. Their facility is not that clean, the equipment is old. They have a nice pop corn machine offering guest free popcorn in their waiting room. I place facility & staff on my low percentile category list for care of my pets.

Ratings_icons Unprofessional

I was a long time customer at Town & Country before I realized how bad they truly are. They are one of the least expensive vets in the area (or they were before the extensive remodeling), which makes them popular, but they are not very good and extremely inattentive.

I had a dog that had been treated there for eight years (one to two yearly visits) and the vets refused to perform a few blood tests, which I had requested several times over the years. The one I felt was of most importance was the Lyme test, but they flat out refused it even though I was willing to pay for and it wouldn't harm the pet. My dog had signs of advanced Lyme that they kept telling me was epilepsy, but I insisted it wasn't.

Years later I went in with my dog under great stress. It turned out that she not only had Lyme, but Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. The vets blamed me for this and told me I was an irresponsible owner for not having had her tested sooner. I told them that I had requested the tests repeatedly and they had refused. They looked in their records and they had 6 lines of 'notes' for all eight years that I had been there. They recorded a few vaccines (incorrectly) and had no record of my dog's condition, her vitals, or even which vet treated her. They certainly didn't record that I had requested any tests. (I should have known. I had a cat who died two years earlier and they recorded it as my dog being dead and never corrected it despite a couple of phone calls stating otherwise and a few vet visits with the 'dead' dog.)

The next vet I found listened to me and treated my dog immediately and appropriately. It only took $80 worth of tests, $15 worth of medicine for a couple of weeks, and most importantly a concerned vet to cure my dog. My dog lived several more years and never had any more of the Lyme related episodes that the Town & Country vets kept misdiagnosing as epilepsy. She did, however, suffer from Lyme related kidney problems that very probably could have been avoided had she been treated earlier.

Anyway, I've tried four vets since leaving Town & Country and they've all been much better. I think pet owners should know that with only a little effort, they can find better for their pets. Sometimes people are fooled by the senior Dr. Hall's charm into thinking that it's a caring practice. Don't be fooled.

Ratings_icons Very happy with T&C

I am very happy with Town and Country. They neutered my male pup, a rescue dog, year before last, and I have taken him there for all his routine care & shots, occasional nail cutting, and when he injured his foot. They have been great and they do a good job of keeping him calm -- most of the time. The price for the neutering was reasonable also -- about 40% less than the other clinic I had taken him to once.

Ratings_icons Dr Davis is good

Keri P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,054

A friend recommended this vet because they have had great experiences before with Dr Davis. We had good experience with Dr Davis. He performed a procedure on our cat the turned out to be very successful.

Other experiences with other staff have not been desirable. It always felt rushed and they the vets had more important things to do .

I would recommend this vet for medical procedures if you use Dr Davis but not for routine matienence of pets

Ratings_icons I can't say I'm happy

Anonymous

Long waits, overly busy staff, and every time I go for a sick appt. it costs me HUNDREDS of dollars. Today I was told it would be $1500 for a procedure my pet "needed". I'm broke and pregnant and was in tears thinking I'd have to put my pet down. Various sources on Google tell me that the condition my pet has will go away on its own with only cosmetic consequences. That wasn't even presented as a choice.

Ratings_icons It has always been a Place to Trust w/ my furry friends.

Dsue B.

I have been going to both facilities of Dr Davis Hall. It is because of his reputation that I continue to go to the vet that is not located near me.My father was the first one to see Dr Hall=15yrs ago. Since that time my mother and dad have had 3 Yorkies-and 3 Schnauzers-each had one at a time. Dr Hall was incredibly generous with his time and billing for my 80yo dad. Dr Hall helped me with my parents dogs after my parents could no longer look after them- I had inherited them. Dr Davis is a genuinely nice and honest man that will not bill for anything that is not needed. It has been my experience that he has always been thorough with my dogs as well. I do not hesitate to take my dog the extra miles to see a vet that I know I can understand-respect-trust-afford and like.I have seen many local vets- none that have taken me away from Dr Davis Hall and his team at both locations. They all have been very helpful.

Ratings_icons I would not go here again

I took my cat to this facility, since his records were on file with their sister facility, Columbia Pike Animal Hospital, which I have found increasingly difficult to deal with. Although physically much nicer than the run-down Columbia Pike facility, the vet failed to check my cat's heart (when the problem was extreme weight loss) and I had to remind her to do that. Also, she apparently didn't bother to look at his chart, as she asked me if he was about 1 year old, when in fact he's 7 and his chart should have clearly stated that. I felt they were very unprofessional. The things she did not check were basic things that any vet technician let alone an actual vet should know to do/check during an exam. It was a waste of time and money, and their rates are not inexpensive.

Ratings_icons Great vets

Stephanie L.

We have seen a number of vets in this hospital, and we have been impressed with every single one. They are very kind to the animals and talk to us with respect and often even make follow up calls to our house. We even moved farther away and still travel to get there.

We are sometimes less happy with the organization at the check-in desk, especially for things like when we call ahead for medication, but the vets are so great that it is not enough to keep us from going there.
