Where are the negative stars! I went to purchase a Tacoma, I called and they said the specific model I wanted was on the lot. It was not. They found one at another dealer, they would not tell me where. They wanted me to sign sight unseen right there. I refused, and bargained with them on price. When I decided I did not like the situation or the deal I decided to walk. The sales manager then proceeded to have what I can best describe as an "adult hissy fit" for making him work so hard on this deal. This included screaming at me, berating my request to shop his offer around town, and several other things unfit for me to repeat here. Worst car buying experience ever. I went to another local dealership who actually gave me a much better deal with no hassle or pressure. Oh and they called me back, I was next door so I did go back after five calls and THEY TOOK MY PICTURE! AVOID KOONS TOYOTA ARLINGTON AT ALL COSTS!!!

It is truly a rare occurrence that one is confronted by the lack of professionalism, rudeness, and complete disregard for customer service that is present at the Koons Arlington Toyota Used Car Lot.

I showed up one day ready to buy a car from their inventory. I told them that I was committed to buying it 6 hours later, after work.

Steve, the manager, always told me that the car might sell at 7:30 that night and that I needed to get someone there in person to start the process before then. I had my father do me a favor and get to the lot by 6:15 (and I told Steve around 3pm that my dad would be there at that time), since I wasnt able to get off from work till about 8. When my dad got there, Steve told him that the car had already sold.

Alright, fine, its just business - they have to take the first guaranteed sale. It would have been nice had they waited till 6:15, but that isnt expected.

However, what boggles my mind is that when my dad said that his cell phone battery had died and asked Steve to call me, he agreed to. Unfortunately, Steve never called me. The way I found out was when I called Steve to see if my Dad got there (battery had died, remember?).

Steve didnt apologize, he didnt say he could help me find another car, no - he said (paraphrasing): I told you when you were here earlier that you should have just bought it. When I want something I take the time from my job to make it happen. Then he repeated some lame story about when he wanted his dog he just left work and drove to Tennessee to get the dog. Well, unfortunately I work in a job where no one would understand if I just up and walked out of work because I wanted a car (or a dog, for that matter).

Besides, Steve gave me the impression that if I (or someone related to me) got there well in advance of 7:30, the car was mine.

The thing is, there are plenty of other cars out there. In fact, I bought one from another dealership - it was actually a better deal and i'm very happy with how things turned out.

While the lack of civility shown by not making the phone call they promised to make was the worst offense, Steve's lecturing of me was a close second - there were multiple other reasons why I would NEVER do business with Koons again.

They reeked of a slimy used car sales lot. They were high pressure and played games to try to convince you to buy on the spot, complete with guilt, second guessing, and other things that were rather uncomfortable. I was willing to buy a car from them because it was everything that I was looking for - but looking back, they are not the kind of place I want to have a business relationship with.

Trust me, I visited multiple toyota dealerships in the area. Every single one of them was more friendly, comfortable, and accommodating than Koons.

I even waited a few days to write this review because I thought, SURELY someone would call me to apologize.

No apology, no nothing. Misunderstandings happen, but not apologizing is inexcusable.

I live in Arlington, but bought my new Highlander from Springfield Toyota because they had the best deal. However, since I live in Arlington, I have always had my Highlander serviced at Koons Arlington Toyota.

At first, I was very satisfied with Koons Service Department. The service guy was courtieous and seemed knowlegeable. Then he quit and someone else took over his roster of customers, including me. I brought my Highlander in because of a terrible noise that occurred upon accelleration. After 2 or 3 return visits to the Koons for the same problem, I was told that it was caused by something that happens to the A/C during accelleration, but that they couldn't figure out exactly how to remedy the problem. Fortunately, the noise occurrs only when I use the A/C (all summer) and it seems to have subsided on its own.

The second incident that really pissed me off about Koons was a Metro shuttle incident. Getting me to Ballston Metro Station in the morning after dropping off my car went fine. However, I had to make no less than 5 calls to the service department after my arrival at Ballston Station and the designated pick-up spot (I-Hop), Each time I was told that it was "on the way." Each time, it was a no show.

Though I allowed plenty of time when I left work, eventually, I was forced to call a friend to pick up my child at preschool before it closed - I had already incurred late pick up fees because of the delay. I had to stand in the blazing 90 degree August afternoon sun for 90 minutes, and make a half dozen phone calls, (mostly it was the Service Manager who answered the phone). I implored him to tell me the truth, "Was the shuttle really on its way or should I take a cab or walk (in the blazing 90 degree August afternoon sun). He repeatedly assurred me, "No, no, sir, the shuttle is on the way and should be there any minute." but it was always a no show.

Finally, when the shuttle van did arrive (after 90 minutes), I asked the driver when he was told to come to get me, and he said only 5 minutes earlier - he was watching TV at the dealership waiting to be dispatched for his next pick up at the Metro station - the Service Manager never even told him I had been waiting at the Metro station until the after-hours receptionist told him (because it took so long that the Service Department, which had been open for most of the 90 minutes, closed).

I fired off a letter to the General Manager, complaining about this incident, and particularly the Service Manager's indifference and repeated lying to me that the shuttle was "on its way." I got absolutely no reply to my letter - either by phone or in writing.

I've never had such HORRIBLE customer service before in my life. I don't even know where to begin.

It started at the time I looked at the car, weren't even willing to come down on the price by $100. As well, the car needed to be inspected and needed a mirror replaced. When I asked if it was a Certified Toyota, the sale person said he thought his boss would "allow" that. Then he said Certified Toyota usually are an extra $800. I called him on that B.S., as I've bought previous Toyota's and was just at another dealership. It's either Certified because of the quality or it's not.

Well.. I bought the car anyway, regardless of the obvious salesman integrity issues I was concerned about. After I purchased it, I was told they'd have to keep it in the shop until they installed the new mirror. Come to find out it hadn't even been ordered. They kept my car for a week. I had to call and fight with the manager to get a rental (at no charge). After a week and half I get my car, issues with the tire pressure or brakes. Leave it again, takes them ANOTHER week. When it was returned no real improve.

After I get the car back, it looks like it has extra miles on it, and I find a disposable camera in the back seat, like an employee took it out for the weekend. This camera was NOT there when I bought the car.

Fast forward 1 MONTH, my car has a massive oil leak. Come to find out there was a recall in early June (I bought the car end of May). Supposably the recall was preformed when in for the shop with tire pressure issue and inspection. I was told, the new part must have been faulty. Mind you, I was NEVER informed of the recall. I have my car towed (which I had to find a tow company, they wouldn't provide a recommended company covered under my warranty program). The part is replaced.

My car is making noises 1 week later. I called ANOTHER Toyota dealership to deal with. They said there's nothing in the system showing the work performed at Koons. Come to find out Koons of Arlington doesn't always document their service work. What????

Now 2 months later, I find a $200 charge on my credit card. This is a credit card I have NOT used or provided at Koons Arlington; other than providing a list of charge cards on my Credit Application. I call Koons, they show no service done or any reason for this charge. So I just called my credit card company and cancelled my card.

I am blown away by the lack of integrity this company has.

My husband called to ask if a certain care was still available around 3pm and was told by Dave, that it was. So we drove 30 miles for 1 hr. We arrived and found that the car was SOLD the DAY BEFORE! We were lied to just to get us down there. What a big waste of our time. Never will I do business with them. I wish I could find a way to report them to headquarters!

after 5 years, no more. They are the absolute worst. I tried to call , no answer, no call back. Went there to make appt., brought the care in, waited hours for a quote, finally called them EXCEPT no one answered the phone again, I biked there from my home and took my car home without any repairs. Beware people.

If i could rate them a half-star I would. They may not even deserve that! Business/Customer Service is horrible and seems like personal life is priority to them when on the job. Managers are never there, no one ever returns calls, you basically get no service, its all "do-it-yourself". We needed a bent rim and a bubbled tire fixed, we had to call the mechanic to check on the vehicle and we were told; "it is working the way it is, we do not see an issue, i am not a rim expert so we cannot fix it". WHAT? I dont work on cars and can tell you that once you rotate the tires, your going to need an alignment each time! We also wanted a noise in the front inspected and fixed, and a gas tank cover that wouldnt open correctly and were told "its really not that bad", Not that bad? we JSUT purchased the car!? So we received a rental...with NO gas, 4 inches of dust, the "maintenance required" light was on, and when we dropped a cell under the seat, a dirty sock was found!!! Are you serious? WTF is wrong with these people. Somebody call 911...

Today my husband and I wanted to look at Avalons, Camrys and Camry hybrids with plans to decide on a new car with many friends recommending Toyota as an excellent car. We arrived at Koons in Arlington and asked to see these cars. The salesman sent us into the hot parking lot where cars were parked and stayed inside, clicking the key to unlock the cars but not bothering to go outside with us. When he came out, I asked some basic questions - differences between models, hybrid vs. regular car. He said - look on the internet. I asked what he could explain about the cars - he said, look at the website. We were furious. NEVER did we receive such standoff behavior from a car dealership. Result - we are buying a Honda from Brown Honda across the street, basically because of our experience at Koons Toyota.

The other day i brought my toyota into koons for service and I would like to thank my service advisor Dean. He greeted me at the service desk and helped me out with what i originally thought days before was going to be a long and horrible nightmare of dropping off my vehicle for its 30,000 mile service. As he was getting my paperwork ready and going over the services that i had asked for he even kindly complemented my coach bracelet (knowledge of toyotas AND designersl!!!) . I got a phone call from him letting me know that my car was ready ahead of schedule and ready to be picked up! Going back into the service department thinking that this must be too good to be true and that there had to be some kind of catch, i was proved wrong again, it was in fact not too good to be true, it was better. As i walked into the service department again it seemed like he was very busy, but before i even got to the desk he greeted me with my paperwork in hand and instructing a valet to please bring my car around to the front door. (the car was cleaner than expected by the way) . Dean walked me to the cashier even opening the door for me and went over the work that they did to my car and i was back into my car in no time! Thank you for the very best service!!!!!!

Insider pages will not allow me to give Koons a 1 star rating. My friend purchased a used car from Koons last month. Her temporary plates and registration expired because Koons failed to submit the paperwork to the VA DMV. After speaking with an unhelpful customer service representative on the phone, and making a trip to the DMV, I drove my friend back to the dealership to get another set of temporary plates (since she could not drive her own car.) Every person we spoke with failed to take responsibility for their error and blamed the problem on the "Registration and Title Clerk" who was not at work that day. If we do not receive her registration and plates soon, we are reporting Koons Toyota to the Better Business Bureau.

Very much a mixed bag for me with regard to service. Brought an old '91 pickup for service when it began to overheat when I arrived for work at my Arlington office. Koons diagnosed the problem, special ordered a part, and gave me a newer loaner to use. After 4 days the part arrived and was installed. Koons then advised me that they detected a very small leak and wanted to correct it by installing a new special order part. That part took 6 days to be delivered and they installed it promptly, but advised me there was still a minor leak.

That was earlier today. They have had my old truck for 13 days , but I'm driving their 2009 SCION. No harm no foul. Generally, I'm impressed that they did not release the truck to me without resolving the problem completely, even though it has taken a long time. The loaner has been a great benefit.

My experience was simply dreadful in EVERY Way!
The general manager was utterly unhelpful and the staff had limited intelligence, limited ability to explain anything, limited interest in dealing with a customer (me) who actually bought and totally paid for a brand new car! It is worst run enterprise I have EVER seen and anyone out there would be making a grave error to have anything to do with this business! I ended up leaving them and going to Darcars in Silver Spring which is properly staffed and run by intelligent, helpful people.

Their overall rating shows 3 out of 5 stars, but that's because someone chimed in with a 5 star rating. While I'm glad that person had a good experience (or was otherwise prompted to write a good review), I would never send my worst enemy to do business at Koons Arlington Toyota. Well, maybe, if he or she were my absolute worst enemy. But then they would probably get along great with the Koons Arlington folks.

We had a great experience buying a Prius at Koons. We called around to get bids, and talked to a gentleman names Tye. We got a bit AT MSRP (this is great for a Prius these days) and got on their waiting list. He stayed in touch, called and emailed us when one came in for us, and the experience going to the dealership was positive and professional the whole time. I would certainly recommend them based on my experience.

Save yourself a ton of trouble and just look elsewhere. Their lack of professionalism, integrity, salesmanship, and ethics will leave you frustrated. Their inability to care about you immediately after the sale will leave you out to dry. While my horrid experience involves the used car department, I suspect the same of the entire dealership. I say this because the GM (who is supposed to run the whole place) was unwilling to rectify the damage caused by his used car manager's shady dealings. Instead, he just let the used car manager, Al, do business in a less than honest fashion. There are too many details to list here, but I suggest you keep looking. There are many choices out there, so no need to deal with the less scrupulous.

I bought a pre-owned Rav 4 in February and obtained a loan through a 3rd party. It is now July and the third party has not received the title from Toyota, therefore the interest rate on the loan is going up tremendously. I've called Koons 3 times and spoken with the manager every time. Each time I've been assured that the title was sent. It was not and now the time is up. This whole experience has been a NIGHTMARE.

Additionally, after I took ownership of the car, a part fell out and the service to replace it was really slow. There was a mark on the dashboard that Koons said they would clean up and never did. They also accidentally process the loan through Toyota even though I said not to. I was sorting out that mess and getting bills from two places for a few months.

In short, the saleman are lazy and dishonest and the service horrendous in every possible way. Avoid this place at all costs. I am now searching the web to post at every available site with reviews to make sure no one else goes here. It was that bad.

I have a 2005 Toyota Sienna that I have had maintained and repaired at Koons Arlington -- they are friendly, they get your car in and usually have it repaired fairly quickly. I like the fact that they give you a loaner car if you need it.

My big annoyance with them is that inevitably they have missed something in the repair and I will need to go back and tell them to re-do it. It's annoying to have to always wonder if the "squeak" you wanted repaired will start squeaking again when you get it home or within the next few days.

I guess the only reason I stick with them is because of the availability of the loaner car -- otherwise, I wouldn't go back.

The toyota in my household was very old, the 2nd car i ever gotten. It had almost 80k miles on it and the timing belt was messed up. I took it to Koons Arlington Toyota to get it repaired, the service was very fast and they had a nice little waiting room with tv, air conditioning and bunch of magazine to read or watch. It was very quick and the price is fair.
