I was a patient at reston hospital some time ago and had the worst experience. So regretfully terrible that to this day I am traumatized from my experience! The maternity ward is a like a cage where you feel tortured and abused. The maternity tour and Lamaze is a fake front for them to sucker people in to be patients there. I am so upset that I chose to go here. It was so unprofessional and the some of the staff were so rude, it is an experience that I will never forget and will warn people of this always. I would not recommend this place to friend or enemy. Beware of your fate in the hands of the ??uncare? of this hospital.

The Billing department is STILL making the same mistake with the authorization they didn't extend 6 months later after I went there for my daughter's birth. Despite dozens of 3-way conference calls with and letters from my insurance, they continue to re-submit the wrong bill (mine instead of my daughter's) and without the pre-authorization they should have done 6 months ago. No matter how many times my insurance and I keep telling them in writing and over the phone with multiple managers, the billing people are completely inept. Not worth it to go there.

Let me make this clear- my review is not of the surgeon or his office if is of Reston Hospital and the Joint Recovery Unit. I have now ad two knee replacements in this house of horrors and can only reason that I went back a second time because I had convinced myself that it was a fluke and overaction to to lost staff due to a snow storm. However, this time the weather was great and there were no "outside" circumstances that could in any way shape or form excuse to total lack of caring for myself or other patients during the period of May 24-May 26. I, myself was left for without water for hours, given a bag of ice cubes instead of an ice pack and a floor covered with water good deal of the time i was there. Also was given spastic doses of pain medication and went unmedicated for hours at a time. In otherwords - A REAL JOY - I WILL NEVER GO BACK

We love our Doctor, but we hate Resto Hospital. Loudoun or Fairfax hospital is better and this is why......

how I was treated at reston hospital, On Wednesday September 15th, 2010 my doctor scheduled for my induction. The first impression of the room was a little disappointing to know that the soap dispenser in the bathroom was not functional. I informed the nurse of the issue and the matter was not resolved during my stay of 2 days. I was upset to only have the option of using bar soap which I do not prefer even in my own home. That night the nurse prepared for an I V and after several attempts, and much pain, of no success, my veins became swollen. She went to find assistance and the anesthesiologist came in and asked why she was not using a local anesthesia to insert an 18gauge tube! I was in disbelief to hear the nurse made such a painful mistake, knowing the procedure would have been easier on me with the anesthesia. She was also the one that administered the drug cervidil which is suppose to be in the cervix for ten to twelve hours but instead she removed it in six hours. This caused no effect, no dilation and time was wasted and had to be re-administrated which is a very uncomfortable procedure. I did not expect this kind of mistake, considering that Reston Hospital is a reputable place. I found that nurse to be inexperienced and her actions intolerable. It was an uncomfortable and painful experience.
After two days of pitocin and the cervidil my water finally broke at 1:46 pm on Friday, the 17th at that point I was two cm dilated. I was in a lot of pain and informed the nurse, she asked my level of pain, I had told her it was a six and with a sarcastic tone she said, ??oh so you are having a hard time breathing and screaming in pain?? People have different tolerance level and six was my personal opinion and found her comment to be unnecessary and condescending. I received no empathy for my pain nor did I get any reasonable accommodation. I had no choice but to put up with this horrid nurse. For nine months I had planned for a vaginal birth but due to my low dilation the doctor decided a c-section is the only way to go. After that decision I finally had the option for the epidural, but prior to that I had requested in advance some sort of pain management but it was ignored. I have a high tolerance for pain, so when I emphasized the fact that I needed pain management I wanted the option of getting some sort of medication, especially to be induced for two days. I attended the childbirth classes at your facility and they did mention that they could administer certain opiates for pain until you are ready for an epidural, but the nurses denied giving me that option.
Overall I went through a lot physically and found that being at Reston Hospital was also emotionally and mentally draining. Its sad how much I had to go through at your facility to finally get great care. I used to love your hospital and every aspect about it until this experience. I have since moved my son??s pediatrician to Loudoun County and will be sure to never come to Reston Hospital again, or recommend it to anyone. There is more to this story but a limit on what i write hope this helps.

Update on friend's stay: They made her NPO for nearly 4 days on the off chance that maybe they might do a test, which they never did. Prescribed her meds for home w/o any explanation. Never did diagnose the underlying problem. Ran up her bill with unneeded consults from specialties unrelated to her symptoms. Never offered her a clean gown or anything to wash up until I pitched a fit. And they let her WALK OUT of the hospital on her own feet!

My friend got rushed to Reston H. by ambulance for severe esophogeal pain and vomiting. Been there for 4 days and the doctors in the CCU can't agree on tests, they are fixated on the heart and ignoring her presenting problem! She is on Medicare, and a whole day was wasted with no cardiac test. Finally, she told them do the test TODAY or I am going home. So now they FINALLY decide to do a test for her original symptoms. Face it, Reston H is a FOR PROFIT. My friend did not want to go there, she wanted to go to INOVA, but they require ambu to take you to closest hospital even if you are conscious and don't want to go there.

So they have no incentive to minimize your stay or not repeat a CAT scan 3 times, which they did here. First one they screwed up. You better believe I will fight her paying for their screw-ups. The "intensivist" doctor, Devin, I think, is patronizing and totally lacking in empathy for the excruciating pain my friend experienced taking a pill that got caught in her throat.

The nurses have been great.

I was a patient in the ER in September 2009. I believe I was there for 4 hours. I couldn't walk because I was so weak. There was one staff person up front and she was so rude to my sister that was trying to get help for me. That combined with the $4000.00 + hospital charges made it easy for me to decide I would never go there again. I had the same tests done at the ER in my hometown (2 hours away) and they were a fraction of the cost. It's sad when you are truly sick but you fear going for help because you will spend the rest of your life trying to pay it off.

Reston hospital is the worst hospital I have ever been. I had my baby 16 moths ago still I am getting the bills. If we call them they will tell that they will send the bill to insurence company but they won't do that. Even today I was on the phone with them for more than an hour. Everytime they will say that we already sent the bill or otherwise they will say they will send the bill. This hospital billing sucks. I don't recommend this hospital. They are eating my time like anything. Even after the birth of my baby they did not take care of us very well.

I delivered my daughter at rest on hospital, my husband insisted that I have her at INOVA fairoaks but my doctor only delivered at reston. and I am soooo glad I had at reston, delivery room was very large, very comfortable, my nurse was just amazing! she was there every second I needed her, was an amazing support. in general the staff is great! I??ve been there before for pre term labor and the nurses took great care for me. the post maternity room was smaller than the first of course, but it was still large and comfortable and new (unlike fairoaks post room- which is very small and very old) normally post rooms only allows 2 people at a time. the nurses understood that I come from a very large family and said as long as we weren??t making loud noises they can all come in. I have to say it was a great experience unlike my sister in laws who all delivered at Fairfax hospital and even a friend of mine who is a nurse there said it??s like a baby factory and its missing that extra care that a smaller hospital provides

I had to go to the ER because of an overstretched ligament.
The doctor, a specialist in bones, looked at my foot for max 4 minutes. The nurses did all the work - cast, x-rays etc.
The first bill was close to $ 300. I called the doc but she could not tell me how she gets the money and did not even know the name of the head of the ER.
The next bill was over $ 3.800. I wanted to know which code stands for what. I had to go the the boss of accounting and he could not tell me. After a discussion he admitted the hospital overcharged me.
I wrote letters to the CEO , the head of the ER and to the complained dept. Only the CEO responded.
This is the worst hospital with the most incompetent
people I have ever met.
If you need to go to a hospital to go Fairfax or Arlington. They are not arrogant and ignorant.
Reston - never again.
And by the way - an employee of Reston hospital recently needed surgery. Guess were she went to? Fairfax!

Reston Hospital Center is a big facility that provides all kinds of health care facilities for its patients. It has an emergency wing, maternity ward, radiology department etc lodged in the building. The Reston Hospital Center Main Lobby always has wonderful staff attendants who can help you with any questions you might have. You can also request a copy of their color brochure through the website www.restonhospital.com.
