Salon Joseph

I heard about SALON JOSEPH from a friend and decided to try them after I moved back from NY and needed a new salon. I was really pleased with my cut and color! I have hard-to-manage hair and my new cut is so easy to work with and looks great. The stylists were friendly and the salon itself was very clean. I will definitely be back!

Joseph took my outdated style and color and created a modern, sassy, easy to maintain style that has brought me numerous compliments. It wasn't easy to go from very long, straight hair to a short, "messy" bob, but JOSEPH convinced me it was the right thing to do. I absolutely LOVE the new look and how easy it is to style. My husband has even commented on how much he likes my new look and he has never commented on my hair before.

The salon is very relaxed and informal - rather like visiting a friend's house. It's also located near great shopping and restaurants

First I gotta tell you that, like most of you, Im obsessed with my hair ! Ive spent my whole life looking for the best hairstylistes !
Im from France, well know for Beauty, Fashion, and Style !
But it happened that I finnaly found the best, here, in Arlington , Virginia!
Jordan is just amazing !
Not only that she does amazing cuts, she KNOWS hair !
She understand your issue with it, at the first sight ! Too fine, too dry, not enough body, no shape.... And she always comes up with THE solution !
Shes very creative and talented. But she knows what to do, whether youre on the fashion week's podium or in the audience ! And thats what i like the most about her !

I loved having my hair cut with JOE. I called wanting someone who wasn't too expensive and then worried while driving to the salon that I would be getting a novice.But, it wasn't the case! JOE is a true artist and enjoys what he does. He gave my hair more attention than it has received from anyone in a long time. I could really tell he enjoyed what he was doing and he was fun to talk to. Left with my hair looking fabulous

I just moved back to the area from Atlanta and was EXTREMELY nervous about finding a new hair salon, but Salon Joseph is legit. He did the most amazing job! I finally got up the nerve to switch from the side bang to the full bang and I couldn't have asked for a better cut. he was confident, amazingly friendly and did exactly what I wanted him to do. he did such a great job in fact that I called up my sister the minute I walked out the door and told her to make an appointment ...which she did. Needless to say, she adores her hair as well. I will definitely be back.

P.S. I didn't go into the decor of the salon, but if you're artsy and enjoy creativity, like me, you'll die. : )

I cheated on my hair stylist and it feels SO good. I drive/walk/bike down LEE HWY all the time and for months I wondered what that SALON JOSEPH place was with the cool sign and cool looking drapes on the inside. So I looked around the other day, and needing a haircut, decided to check it out. I called up, not really knowing or caring who I saw, and was placed with Jordan. She is awesome. She's fun and nice and super smart. I was there for almost two and a half hours and had no idea.Oh, and she cuts good hair. She started with an awesome head & neck massage. After telling her what I didn't like about my current hair, I immediately felt comfortable having her just go to town and do what she thought would work to fix those problems. I love my hair now. My bangs are exactly what I'd been missing since I had to leave my McLean hair lady. And she cut me layers. I never thought I was a fan, but I love em. And they have drinks to drink, good music to listen to, and cool people to be around.

Salon Joseph is my absolute favorite place to be. Joe and his assistant Lori are two of the most talented people I have ever encountered. The color is terrific and the cut is perfect; they keep me trendy. Also,all together fun to be around! What a beautiful salon too

Joe is an excellent hair-care provider/stylist, and I could never imagine going to anyone else. he works with all hair types. His styles are always professional, and most important, he is concerned about the health of my hair. Since he became my stylist, my hair has become much shinnier and stronger. Relaxers, color, cuts -- Joe does it all exceptionally well!

I moved to arlington, va and tried a number of different hair stylist and was unsatisfied, Joe was recommended by a coworker and I am so grateful for the recommentation. he is an exellent hair stylist and a great person. I would recommend this salon to anyone who wants a great haircut and color in a friendly professional salon with great service anytime

I came to Joe a little on the unsure side but after leaving I'm definitely hooked. I was originally scheduled for a haircut but after talking I decided I wanted to change my color. I absolutely love his inspire color system. The tones are so rich and my hair looks great. Joe is fantastic! I have so much confidence in Joe that every time I sit down, I tell him he can do whatever he wants. He knows me well enough to know my limits but also always gives me a really cute cut that's low maintenance - critical for me. The last time we went a bit shorter than normal and i loved it. I've gone to Joe for about five years now and have never been disappointed. Haircut, style, and head massages are all an A+ and so is he!

I can't even remember how many years I've been going to Joe. It must be getting close to 8 years now! My friend found him first, actually, and so I went to him simply because my friend was going to him and told me to "give him a try". Lucky for me. I went to very expensive stylists in D.C, no one can cut and colored my hair as well as Joe. I consistently get compliments on both his cuts and color. And even when I'm not sure exactly what color or what type of cut I want, I walk out looking fabulous! Joe has a talent for helping me find new looks that compliment my face, personality and lifestyle.

I got my hair cut and highlighted 3 weeks ago and I was very pleased with the results. I'm extremely picky about haircuts and I haven't gotten highlights in years because I didn't think anyone would be able to do anything nice with my hair, because it's so dark. But, Joe suggested a nice golden color and it turned out great! He listens to i want and he made his own suggestions which are very helpful. I would definitely suggest going here, i kind of felt at ease and comfortable with him right away.

I have been seeing my colorist for years in Atlanta, but just recently moved to DC dreading the thought of finding a new colorist. But after my experience with Joe, I will never go back to my old colorist again. He did an amazing job with the color and it looks better than ever. I was definitely skeptical of trying a new colorist because I have had a few bad experiences in the past. Joe was great, though, and I will definitely be back to see him again soon!!

I got my hair cut and highlighted by Joe yesterday for the first time. he was so awesome!!! My hair is short and I'm trying to grow it out. I brought in several pictures of cuts and color that I liked and showed them to him. he was very helpful in working with me to decide what I really wanted and would look good on me, especially as I grow my hair out. he really listened to what I wanted, and asked me a lot of questions to make sure I would be happy with what he thought would look good, and he explained to me what he was doing as he cut my hair. I love my cut and color!!! he did a fabulous job and he was so friendly!! I have definitely found a new stylist, and I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking.

I would highly recommend Joe. When I first went to him I had never had highlights but wanted something new, and so left it up to him to recommend what would look the best--and it turned out great. The cut itself was amazing. I have wavy, sometimes-curly sometimes-straight hair that stylists can never seem to get right and I've never walked out of a place loving what they've done. But with just a little description of what I wanted he cut it perfectly, just how I wanted--and I got a number of compliments on my haircut that night. Plus he's so friendly..overall a great experience.

Joe is a hair genius! Usually, I am always unhappy right after a haircut when my hair goes though that weird period of a few days adjusting to the cut but I never have this problem with Joe. I have been immediately happy every time! And he's a lot of fun to talk to! Not only do you leave looking great, but you leave in a great mood, too!

Joe has been my hairdresser for about 6 years. he's fantastic. I just let him do whatever he want and I've never been disappointed. he always tries new techniques and keeps my hair looking hip and cool all the time. I constantly have people coming up to me giving me compliments on my hair style and color. I'm always being asked about who does my hair. Joe is the best!

I was in search of a new stylist this past week, so did some research on the internet and settled on this place based upon the reviews and awards that Joe has received. I called for an appointment and i have curly hair. This was the best experience I have every had on the first visit with a new stylist. Joe took the time to listen to what my concerns were and then offered some suggestions and recommendations. I really appreciated someone who was willing to take the time and discuss the pros/cons of my options. he then proceeded to show me a simple way to style my hair that cuts down the time it takes to do my hair. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with my experience and am looking forward to my next visit to add some hi-lites. Thanks for your focus on providing a great experience for the customer!

I am totally jazzed about my new haircut from Joe. I went in on Friday and had a lovely, lovely time with him, but wanted to wait a few days to see if I could actually style it myself (I always love a cut once I walk out the salon, but have been baffled a few times before, upon returning home, showering and realizing there was no way in you-know-where I was going to be able to get my hair to look like the stylist did, let alone decent).

Anyway, my new haircut passed the self-styling test! I love it, and I can even make it look somewhat like the way Joe did. This is solely due to the careful and detailed instructions he gave me, and product he sent me home with.

Joe embodies everything I look for in a stylist - he's cute, funky and easy to talk to, he gave me a kick-ass cut all the while paying attention to my requests, he taught me how to style my hair on my own, and even gave me some overall pointers that I probably should have learned in middle school. AND he's affordable! Rock star, all around

Had my hair colored and just thought it was okay. Not as bright as I had hoped, but based on the reviews I thought I would have been blown away. The salon itself is very dated and actually dirty and looks run-down. Kind of like an old lady salon. I just don't get all the positive reviews here.

i went here on a recommendation of a friend and loved my experience. i have been all over looking for someone who could get my hair-color right and i was overly impressed. i not only was happy with my color but my haircut was also amazing.Joseph is fantastic.he is totally the kind of hairstylist who makes you feel good about you hair,your life and who you are as a person. i brought in some pictures to give him an idea of what i wanted and he looked at them and talked to me about what was good,what wasn't, and what would work well on me.it's great when stylists take time like that....it results in great hair and extreme customer service. :0)Stacey d

I visited Joe three times. My first visit I was pleased. He discussed his future plan with my hair based on my face shape and hair texture. The second visit he forgot what he told me the first time (my hair texture and face shape remained the same--his vision changed but he still gave me a nice cut. Each time, however, my hair became shorter (I have long hair). My third visit he chopped off a lot of hair length and reshaped my hair and it didn't look good. It grew out horribly. I had to wait three months to visit a very expensive stylist who gave it some shape, but the damage from the third Joe cut will cost me time and money to repair. Joe is probably excellent with shorter hair cuts, but is not comfortable styling long hair. Sorry Joe.

i've never been inspired to write a review before, but the world must know about Joe Awad. He squeezed me in for an appointment at embarassingly short notice for my first gallery opening, listened to my unreasonable requests (I actually showed him a picture of a supermodel and asked him to make me look like her), and half an hour later I was transformed. Joe understands hair the way Einstien understood physics. As he worked he explained to me the "internal structure of the layering" -- this guy is beyond expert, he's an artist. Ok, this is the 2nd time I've been to Joe and continue to be absolutely thrilled!!! He is great at assessing color/cut to suit my face & personality and is such a pro! My boyfriend says it's the best cut/color I've ever had!! Joe has given me blond hi-lights and allover darker hair and both times it's looked phenomenal! Aside from the fantastic job he does with the color and cut, his personality and love for his clients is remarkable. Even with all of his awards and sterling reputation, he isn't the slightest bit snooty and doesn't cut any corners--and is unwaveringly generous in his time with each client. Plus, he's funny & quite a likable guy.

I have always allowed my stylist to guide me with the direction of the cut & color of my hair. I usually provide a little direction, but mainly rely on their professional opinion- this has burned me more than once! HOWEVER, in the hands of JOE I felt so relaxed and comfortable. he listened to what I didn't like about the current look and what I hoped for- he asked questions and in the end helped me determine what I wanted! The result was awesome! I was so happy with the color- which gave my dark hair a great lift, still looked natural and was easy to maintain. I can't say nicer things about the cut- JOE mastered the style I had been after! The salon was cozy, tastefully decorated and everyone was friendly! I highly recommend HIM.

I read all the reviews and made an appointment. I was not disappointed. I was convinced that the perfect cut and color was out there. He highlighted and cut. Now the gray is gone, replaced by a beautiful blondish brown, The heavyness is gone replaced by short hair with long layers. I have the bangs I always wanted because Joe is so creative. People ask me all the time where I get my hair done.

Everytime I have had my hair colored with JOE it has turned out beautiful. I get so many compliments. I feel so welcome when I go there and feel like I have known my stylist, JOE, forever. he is awesome!! I am very confident that when I go have my hair hair colored, cut, or styled the end result is going to be fabulous. It's a great feeling to go in and be able to trust your stylist and I can definitely say this about him. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and there is plenty of parking. There is no question that I will recommend JOSEPH to everyone I know!

The world needs more stylist like JOE. When I first started going to JOE over three years ago, I wore my hair short, but always used hot rollers and quite frankly it dated me. One day, I asked JOE for something different, but professional as I own my own business and needed to keep my image intact. He gave me an absolutely awesome short, spiky, sassy style. he then re-did my color adding low-lights and highlights to my hair. It is so awesome to go out to stores and get stopped by people who compliment my hair and always ask who did it. For anyone who wants a truly awesome style, who wants someone that listens to your wants and needs, JOE is the stylist for you. I recommend him to my clients and they are always thrilled! I'd been wanting a good hairstylist for a long time, and recently discovered JOSEPH AWAD. I've had long, one length curly hair forever, and no stylist has ever really done anything with it. I took the plunge and sat with JOSEPH, who came highly recommended. and I honestly must tell all that after spending an hour with him sculpting, smoothing, and transforming my hair into a beautiful look, I feel I can't afford not to see him again. He is an absolute master at what he does, and his quiet focus on you is absolutely mesmerizing. the day he was cutting my hair channel 9 news had voted him the best stylist/colorist in the metropolitian area. he deserves it ,he is the best. and congratulations and can't wait to see him again. my hair is beautiful

Joe did an amazing job with my hair. I highly recommend him--he does fantastic work. He is professional, attentive, and has an eye for color and style. I am new to the area and prior to Joe, had the same hairdresser for over 10 years. I came in looking for a fun new haircut and to take my hair from the boring blond highlights that I had for years, to a rich chocolate brunette shade. He carefully matched up a hair color and advised me on which colors would flatter my complexion. As for the cut, he still managed to keep my hair on the longer side, and added face flattering layers. I am absolutely thrilled with my new cut and color. My husband, family, and friends just cannot say enough kind things about my new hair! Thank you!

The first time I went to see Joe, I just got a color and cut and it was good, he does a great blow out. However, he didn't do my hair the whole time which kind of bothered me but I figured he was just really busy. The second time however, I just went in for a blow out before my engagement pics, I was told a blow out would be $35-$40, so I figured that was reasonable before my engagement pics. I got charged $60 and he didn't even do the flat iron, which he said was extra, the receptionist did. I had also asked to speak with the person who does updos, and he said she was too busy to come over and speak with me for a few minutes, later I found out from the receptionist she was in the back waiting for her first appt which wouldn't be arriving for another half an hour. I felt like he was trying to over charge me and create hype when really I just would have appreciated good service. While he does a good job on the hair, the service is lacking and he is not attentive to you at all. He tries to take several appointments at once. There are a lot of hair people in DC/VA, it tough competition and you need to be attentive to your clients.

I just had my second cut with Joe ...he's fantastic. I don't think I've had a stylist pay as much attention to detail as he does. he truly takes his time and you can tell all of his focus is on you. I also am loving the natural color i got. Best salon experience I've ever had. :)

I have been searching for a hairstylist for the past three years which is when i moved up here and i finally have. Joe takes the time to talk to you and takes the time to talk and suggest things and work with you to find the style that you want and will look good on you which is really impotant to me and he remembers you each time you come. All of those things put together make for a very comfortable relaxing atmosphere. I always tell people where to go when they ask where I get my hair done. Thanks joe, I love my new cut.

I met Joseph through one of his clients at a party. He has changed my life with what he did for my thin,fine hair. I had a consultation, which was free, and a cup of coffee while he told me what he could and could not do for me. We ended up doing a highlight with several shades of low and highlights that made my hair look fuller. he also then gave me a fantastic cut and showed me how to style my hair at home. Joseph is great stylist and I loved his straight to the point attitude and charm.he also gave me a 1 week period to adjust my hair to how I wanted it, no one has ever offered me that. he also offers a referral program which makes my trips to him even cheaper as I refer my friends. Really try him while you can still get in for an appointment, as he is the best kept secret in town......Unless Oprah discovers him then I am out of luck :-) mariam s

I went to Joseph for foil highlights and a haircut . he gave me professional advice and service. he knows alot about hair. You can tell he is an experts. i have brown hair and Joseph added a honey blond hi lites ,it looks excellent. He transform my brassy hair to something golden and shiny.My friends and family really liked my hair, they said that I looked liked a model. Joseph- all I have to say!!! I am so incredibly pleased with my haircut. I have gone to several different hair salons, but with no luck finding an individual who would cut/color the way I want, or even close for that matter. I was so impressed with the way Joseph had cut my sister's hair (the color is beautiful too) that I made the appointment two days later. It has been about two weeks now and everyday I wake up I look forward to the way I will be styling my hair that day. He took his time to help me find the perfect colors (I am extremely picky) and I cannot thank him ENOUGH for his fabulous sense of style, WHAT A TALENT!!! I found my permanent hair dresser, and I am so excited and relieved!Thankyou Joseph, keep up the amazing work!!!!

WOW. What can I say. I have traveled all over the world and though I have experienced other great salons, Joseph is bar none! Joseph asked me what I wanted done and then incorporated his amazing artistic cutting/color talent to create something I envision only mentally. He knew what I wanted and did just that. He was very creative with every cut and snip of my hair. He was NOT one of those people who listen to what you say, then do the exact opposite. I'm a permanent client here! He gave me the cutest short haircut with bold hi-lites.It suits my personality very much. i feel me now when i look in the mirror. i get stopped at least 3 times a day people asks who does my hair. i owe it to you Joseph. you rock dude
