Ratings_icons Fired too for a complaint

Sue N.

My family was also fired from this practice...for a complaint. When my child needed a copy of her vaccination records for school (it was a new school that had to register 1,000 students and their medical records and only misplaced 20 of them), everyone else was able to get their shot records faxed to the school office within hours. I was told MFM needed 72 hours to CALL ME BACK and that they had no timeline for providing a copy of the record. That meant my child couldn't start school on time. When the school thought I MUST have misunderstood and called MFM on my child's behalf, they were berated. About 6 other parents and I heard the school's half of the conversation, which was polite and professional. The school personnel and other parents were horrified at MFM's inappropriate behavior, lack of response and just plain nastiness. It was weird...everyone wondered what their motivation would be to treat patients and school officials so rudely. When I asked to have Dr. Buchinsky call me to discuss it, I was told that I would have to make an appointment and PRE-PAY a $60 consultation fee to speak to him! I am pretty sure this is unethical...but it was all we needed to hear to know we were not in good hands and didn't want this type of person, never mind doctor, in our lives. Couldn't get the records quickly, but when I stated that I would be changing doctors they managed to send a letter to us firing us from their practice immediately! I had been considering going elsewhere as they had done a few other disturbing things during visits (gave me 11 year old an internal exam without having me in the room -- which she and I would never let happen again!) When they did produce the shot record eventually it was missing the last vaccination, which had to be hand written in by office staff. So perhaps they were covering up for misplacing the record of that visit. All I can say is that our families have used several different doctors as we have relocated, and have never felt worse about any of them. If you are looking for a family practice to join, this is one to avoid...the negative comments truly outweigh the few that haven't had issues with MFM.

I too have had Dr. Buchinsky and I did not like this doctor at all. He rushed me along, he always had a smirk on his face and a bit preachy at times. He does not like when you interupt him also. AVOID THIS DOCTOR!

My previous doctor was no longer there so I had switched. I now see Dr Heaton who is excellent. Very nice, he always has a smile on his face when he enters the room, and he now is so familiar with me, he knows me by name which is so cool when I come for an appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Heaton if you decide to go there. Very clean environment. Don't let Dr Buchinsky deter you for seeing other doctors there.

I do not know how my name has been linked to Manassas Family Medicine, other than the fact that I worked their in 2006, as the Practice Administrator. Huge mistake for me.This position was solely glorified. All decisions were made by Vincent Buchinsky. The other Doctors are on an iron- clad 3 year, more/less contract with Dr. Buchinsky. They have very little control over anything. They are told how long to engage in every patient visit and to what extent. They are merely indentured servants. This practice is soley owned by Vincent and Elizabeth Buchinsky. There is some truth to all of the comments which have been submitted. Vincent Buchinsky claims a faith and relationship with God. However, I don't know if it is the same God that most claim. He also brings up religion during the interview process and other frowned upon interview practices. He believes in retribution and lacks ethics. He also uses covert tactics. If considering working there as an employee in any capacity, please re-consider, as I was fore-warned by other Doctors and former staff, who know him. Unfortunately, I didn't heed their advice. Dr. Vincent Buchinsky is extremely vindictive and passive aggressive. If you work/worked there, please don't list him as a reference. No matter how much of a contribution you may have made, he may still give you a bad reference. It was such a negative experience for most employees, including myself. I was inundated daily with complaints from the staff and patients The unusually high turnover was justified. It was even bad for some of the Doctors. One Doctor was intentionally rude and abrasive with the patients, in an attempt to get fired, because Dr.Vincent Buchinsky wouldn't release them from their contract. Even, at the risk and evidence that he was losing patients because of this, he would not release them. It was sadistic. One of the horrible memories which come to mind is the fact that when a patient would complain, even legitimately so, he would have me to send them a dismissal letter from the practice. I could go on and on. Nearly two years since my departure, my experience still haunts me. This Doctor is a class action law suit waiting to happen. When and if that day occurs, please contact me. I will gladly be a key witness. Please remove my name from the title of this review or article, linking me as a key player at this practice, but please keep my comments. To future employees and patients: Enter/Visit at your own risk, and consider yourself warned.

Ratings_icons A Mixed Bag

Anonymous

This practice really is a mixed bag. I changed doctors from Dr. V. Buchinsky to Dr. Heaton for many of the reasons previously cited. Dr. B tends to rush through appointments and lecture (forget conversation). Dr. Heaton is terrific - he listens, takes his time with you, and treats you like a valued person. As for the staff - it's the most disorganized medical office I have ever seen. Some staff members are friendly, some are rude...but not to worry. They change like the weather. I can't recall seeing the same admin staff two visits in a row. Forget about trying to transact business over the phone...neither doctors (except Dr. Heaton if he gets the message), nurses, nor admin staff return your calls. Unless you can get Dr. Heaton, I'd stay away from this practice.

Ratings_icons Get DR. Heaton

Offices are clean although not one of the staff has ever used the hand washing sink that are available to them in the examing room.
I go there because of Dr. Heaton, who has always given me EXCELLENT care.
I would say there has been a large turnover in Doctors since I have been going there(over 5 years)
The front staff has gotten somewhat more polite although in the past, there seems alot of turnover.
Bottom line is : I go there because of Dr. Heaton.

Ratings_icons I like this practice

I have been with this practice for 4 years and only one change of doctors. They are good about turning around test results and the staff has always been courteous. I have been pleased with the care and service received.

Ratings_icons We like them

Both my husband and I have been patients there for a long while and have been very happy with the care we've gotten there.
I particularly like the homeopathic measures we've had suggested to us for helping with chronic nuisance problems like sinusitis.
And yes, I've seen doctors at the practice that are a little...shall we say lecture-prone...but it has always been related to the health issue at hand. In essence, a treatise on taking better care of yourself.
We take our son there now and we've been happy with the care he's getting too.
We're Christian but I don't see where that's been an issue in our care. Yes, there is a lot of religious books and magazines around, but other than that it's never come up and I don't see why it would. No one mentions my preference for Southern Living.

I went to this practice for 2 years. They had a huge turn around in their doctors. There was a doc that left almost every month, with the exception of the two owners, the Buchinskys. If you happen to be a non-Christian, this may not be the place for you, especially if you see Dr. Vincent Buchinsky. Prepare for a sermon. The staff leaves a lot to be desired. I had to fight with insurance issues because they couldn't get paperwork right. They dropped me as a patient when my husband tried to go to them for the first time (had been on their panel for over a year), when we thought he had bone cancer (results of X-rays at ER showed tumor) and needed a doctor to direct his care. They dropped us both as patients because an old girlfriend of his (over 10 years ago) named him as responsible for a physician bill that was never paid ($150). I even offered to pay the back bill, but they dropped us both cold as patients. Good Christians, huh? (Luckily, we hooked up with docs we love and take great care of us! ...and he didn't have bone cancer, thank goodness!)

PROS: Beautiful offices
CONS: Huge turnover in docs, nasty staff, nasty owners
