I was referred to Dog A Do, by another groomer because my dog's groomer is sick. I have a Portugeese Water Dog and spoke to Kat before I brought her in about cutting my dog with scissors and not a clipper. When I went to pick up my dog, I was mortified at what she looked like. She shaved my dog to the skin! When I told them that this is not what I wanted they explained that my dog's hair was matted which is why they shaved her to her skin. They never once called to ask, they just shaved her hair, even though I specifically said I did not want her shaved. Since Kat was not there when I picked up my dog, I had to call her. Once I finally reached Kat, I told her I was not happy and that we had discussed not using clippers. Unfortunately, the customer is always right does not mean anything to Kat because she started screaming at me over the phone.
I will never go back to Kat or recommend her to anyone. I have already called the groomer that recommended me to her and they will not be forwarding her any more business. I will also post this comment to every website I find regarding her business. All Kat had to was pick up the phone to say they would not/could not cut my dogs hair and I would have taken her somewhere else. She could have apologized and ripped up my invoice instead she blamed me and was downright rude and obnoxious. Clearly, Dog A Do was looking for a quick $100 and did the least amount of work possible.
We have been taking our Portuguese Water Dog, Georgy, there for 4 years and our Toy Poodle, Toby, for a year.
The dogs are always ready when they say that they will be, and they really know how to clip the PWD. They came recommended by the breeder and they do a great job.
My Welsh Springer Spaniel used to be terrified of the groomers. I had to drag him in with his toenails clawing to get out. At the last place they used to have to literally drag him to the back.
At Dog a Do Freckles trots right in. He loves the place. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They ask questions to be sure that they understand what you want. The owner is wonderful. They have always made every effort to get my dog in even when I call at the last minute and they are booked they will try to make the extra time to take him. Can't say enough good things about dog a do
I have a Shih Tzu that I've taken to Dog a doo for the past couple of years. They have always done an OK job on my dog, can't complain when it's cheap. The last haircut she had was absolutely horrible. Not only that but when I got her home she had clue on her paw. It looked like they cut her and decided to cover it up with some glue. I was wondering why she kept licking her paw. I called to complain and they denied everything. I will never take our dog their again!
I love everyone at Dog-A-Do. The staff is always friendly and you can stop by anytime to look at the dogs or just watch them groom. They seem to all have their hearts totally in the right place. The only problem is when I asked the owner how tips were divided, she told me that she used them to pay for employee lunches once a week. I had given a $40 tip to the man who had groomed my dog, and honestly I wouldn't have given that much had I known that all he was going to get out of it was one lunch.
I have been taking my 4-year-old standard poodle to Dog A Do since he was a puppy. Kat's (the owner) grooming technique with poodles is unsurpassed. Other people comment constantly on the terrific 'clip' on our poodle and ask who we use to groom him. Not only are Dog A Do's prices reasonable, they get my dog in and out very quickly so that he doesn't have to spend hours at the grooming salon. If that isn't enough, all grooming is done right up front where anyone and everyone can see how well the dogs are handled with TLC. I would never take my dog anywhere else! VK, Sterling, Va.
I've been taking my English cocker to Dog-a-do for over two years now. They have always given me excellent service, and my dog looks wonderful when they're done grooming him. They also try and fit you in at short notice, although they're almost always full. I love Dog-a-Do, love the fact that the owner is on premises, and love the way my dog looks after his grooming.
I've just moved to the area so I thought I would try them out. I was very disappointed in their work. My dog was very uneven! in fact I had to make another appointment for my dog at another pet salon so they would fix what Dog a Doo did... Luckily for me the other pet salon sympathised with me and fit me in. Don't ever take your dog here unless you don't care what it looks like
LOVE Do A Do! They've been around a lot of years - and the experience show! They do a great job, and you can tell the staff really cares about the pets they groom. There is no smell in the shop, and you are welcome to inspect any area of the shop.
PROS: Experienced, personable owner and staff
CONS:
