Burnley is always a must stop for us on our quarterly winery outings. I have to get a bottle of Somerset and the Spicy Rivanna is oh so good in the winter when heated. The Moon Mist is fantastic as well. There's a nice tasting room and the small tasting fee is actually applied to any wine purchase you make so, if you're buying, you aren't really paying a fee. They have a sweet dog who will nudge you for dog biscuits that you'll find in a jar on the counter. It's a little off the beaten path, but not far from Barboursville or Horton so stop by if you're in the area. It's a fun place.

Burnley Vineyards is well worth a stop on any "wine trail" outing or trips up to other sights in and around Barboursville. The tasting room is generously sized and as many as 20 wines seem to be available for tasting on any given day. Apple cider is offered to the under-aged, in a nice gesture to alleviate impatience among those not trying the offerings.

As in many other wineries around, the tasting room doubles as a gift shop, with many wine-related lifestyle items on offer. There's nothing particularly new or unique, but it's fun to look all the same.
