THERE IS NO BETTER VETERINARIAN THAN DR. ADAMS, and there is no better veterinary hospital than Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital. Really? Yes! Absolutely!! Positively!!!

Why? How can you be sure? Let me tell you. Please be advised this review will be rather long and comprehensive -- not sure whether this site has a word limitation.

I have known Dr. Adams for some twenty years. Under her care, our first mixed-breed terrier-type lived just past 18 years. Our second dog, now 15 years old, is partially deaf, nearly blind in one eye, has kidney problems and melanoma, a nasty type of cancer. This dog has had two cancer surgeries and chemotherapy from specialists; fortunately, the cancer appears to be in remission. Of course the dog has no idea it has serious problems, nor would anyone otherwise uninformed. Despite these problems, the dog is without pain, active, and happy to be with her pack. She will live a happy life for several more years, God willing, and thanks to Dr. Adams and her staff.

What you really need to know about Dr. Adams and her hospital is that she and it are unique. The motivation is compassion and care, financial gain does not ever enter into the equation. As her Website home page states: ??Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital practices the art and science of comprehensive healthcare for companion animals of responsible clients?nothing more, nothing less.? And, nothing could be closer to the truth.

The hospital is modern, fully equipped, and staffed by dedicated, experienced veterinarians and support personnel who really care about you and your companion animals. If you are a client and have a veterinary problem or think you might have one, you can give them a call and they??ll tell you what you might be able to do on your own, whether you need to see a veterinarian the next day, or, if it is after hours, need to go to an emergency clinic for immediate treatment. If it??s during normal business hours, they will work you into the schedule.

One thing I really like about the hospital is it is just that -- a hospital. Adams Mill does not do boarding or grooming or sell pet trinkets. They do medicine and surgery. That is what hospitals should be all about!

With all the good stuff I can say about the hospital, there is only one caveat: They expect you to do your job and care for your dog or cat. If that??s too much to ask, this place is not for you.

As you can imagine, over the years I have established a proactive relationship with Dr. Adams and her hospital. I am passionate about how dedicated and professional they are. I want the world to know how I feel. If you like what I say, give them a call and take a tour of the facility. Better yet, schedule an appointment for your dog or cat. Plan on at least an hour??s office visit. I guarantee it will be the most thorough exam your companion animal has ever experienced and best veterinary value that can be had.

The bottom line: I truly trust Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital. I trust them with my dog??s life. I would trust them with my life. I wish I could say that about most physicians I see, but I really cannot. Unfortunately, Adams Mill cannot provide medical treatment to humans. Oh, well, I guess the world is not perfect -- yet. :-)

A lot of internet places to post reviews, and they don't usually interconnect. I posted this two weeks ago to one that doesn't seem to get much traffic, and I wanted my views to be seen, so I'm posting it here too.

My dog, Missy, met the Adams Mill team at what turned out to be the end of her life. After dealing with "so-so" vets for decades, I moved to Reston and chose these folk, based on reviews and price comparisons. I found them to be highly skilled, very compassionate, and more supportive than I could ever have imagined. Missy was diagnosed quickly and accurately, I was referred to equally skilled specialists for testing and consultation, and they made many follow-up calls to me, asking how she was doing, if I had questions, and offering support in any way they could. In the aggregate, they were on the phone with me for hours. No money involved, just a genuine concern for Missy...and me. Pursued options with specialists, but the cancer was too advanced, and Adams Mill administered the final shot. Well...business dealings over, right? Not quite, they followed-up afterwards to ask how I was doing and see if I had any unanswered questions. These are remarkably dedicated professionals, and my dog could not possibly have had better care. I highly recommend them.

I must echo the very positive reviews of Adams Mill. We've been clients now for almost 20 years. I noticed the negative review, with descriptions attributed to Adams Mill as "controlling". What one person might refer to as such, another would find as "being very attentive and concerned". In that case, the poster complained because Adams Mill asked to be involved in making an important decision, because that's what the client had requested they do. I find it hard to believe that the extra care they provided increased the overall cost by 4-5K. Yes, a client should be told that if they list the Vet as their emergency contact, the Vet will involve themselves in the case, should an issue arise. I wonder - where was the client during this process, and if Adams Mill HAD NOT gotten involved, and the worst had happened, would we see a negative review because of their lack of caring ??

I don't know what other Vets charge, because we've been clients here for so long. I know they are most likely a bit above average, in an area that's expensive, anyway.

That being said, if you believe as we do that Pets are Family Members, and you want to give them the very best, you will find none better than Adams Mill. They have helped us extend the lives of our little ones - 17+ years from an adopted 'alley cat' to over 20 years for our most recently departed Siamese. Adams Mill has been there when the tough decisions had to be made, balancing their need to remain objective with a truly caring nature that extends from Dr. Adams herself, through the other Veterinarians and also to the entire staff.

They're not perfect, but they are pretty darn excellent at what they do !!

Adams Mill sets the standard for veterinary medical care...a standard that few others can attain. They are passionate about what they do. I am totally impressed. If any place deserves recognition for being the best, Adams Mill does. Recommended without reservations.

Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital is truly a remarkable place!

Who says dogs can??t write? Well, I??m a GOLDEN RETRIEVER and CAN WRITE. So, let me be the first dog to say a few kind words about Dr. Adams and her GREAT HOSPITAL. (Of course, I must remain anonymous because I don??t want my folks to know that I use their computer when they??re away.)

First, I love the hospital waiting room. It??s huge. It has soft music playing everywhere. And, it??s very, very clean and doesn??t smell like an animal hospital. In fact, I??ve come to learn that the entire hospital is like that. Immaculate. And, everyone there loves dogs just like I love people. Cool, huh?

Second, and probably more important than my first comment, they??re good at what they do. VERY, VERY GOOD! They make me feel relaxed and have kept me happy and healthy for over 12 years. And, they take as much time as needed to explain everything to my human mom and dad. (Sometimes I wonder why they ask so many questions!)

When I talk to other dogs, I always recommend Dr. Adams. Unfortunately, most other dogs don??t understand me. They??re not Golden Retrievers.

So if you??re a Golden Retriever and are reading this review, definitely go to Dr. Adams hospital. And if you??re a human, you know you can trust what I say?I??M A DOG!

I've only been going to Adams Mill for about a year, but after having taken my dog to three other vet places in the area, I feel comfortable in saying that this place is good -- really good.

The staff at Adams Mill really cares about what they do. They are more thorough in their exam than anyone I've ever been to. And, as a new client, they spent at least 45 minutes explaining everything and answering every stupid question I had.

If you don't take your dog to Adams Mill you gotta be crazy!

Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital is a HOSPITAL. They don??t board or groom or sell retail stuff. They practice great medicine and surgery. It??s a serious place that takes my dog??s healthcare seriously. Period.

You will not find a more ethical, professional hospital than Adams Mill Vet. I only wish they could practice their medicine on people.

I never write Internet reviews, but now I am making an exception.

Adams Mill Vet Hospital deserves credit for being the best Vet Hospital I've ever been to. I'm totally impressed with their facility, professionalism, expertise and communication. At Adams Mill, they are comprehensive and complete in caring for my mixed breed dog, Toots. The vets always explain my options and allow me to make the best decision. They spend what ever time is necessary. They even follow up with a telephone call to see how things are going.

Best of all, Adams Mill Vet is NOT a factory. I can almost always see the same vet of my choice. And, that provides me a level of comfort in knowing there is a continuity of health care.

I consider myself fortunate to have found Adams Mill Vet. I strongly recommend Adams Mill to all owners who love their pets and expect the best in health care,

This is the best vet I have ever been to. They actually have ethics, unlike some vets around here. If you want the best possible care for your animal, this is the place to come. The lobby and exam rooms are VERY clean. The pricing seems average or just above for this area, but it takes a lot of money to run a place that provides quality care.. They won't take short cuts when it comes to your pets health. Dr Adams and the other vets and staff are way above average and will go above and beyond to make sure your pet's health is where it should be. Highly recommended.

There are few veterinary hospitals that are as competent, capable, and compassionate as Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital. For over a decade, Dr. Adams and her staff have cared for my thirty pound mixed breed dog. Without a doubt, Adams is second to none. The Hospital is as professional and ethical as any hospital can get. Adams Mill Veterinary Hospital makes human hospitals and physicians look like minor league players in a headless, healthcare system.

If you're looking for the smartest, most competent, most dedicated veternarian in the DC Metro area, YOU MUST SEE DR. ADAMS. Google Adams Mill Vet and you'll see what I mean.
