I wish I had read this before I scheduled my appointment....Over promise and under deliver. I didn't get my monies worth and I wish I could get a refund. Shop was clean and modern, but I put my hat back on my hair when I left. I have lived in 4 states and have always found a good salon to do my hair. Even in Denver which isn't black Meca. I was severely disappointed with my service. My hair was limp, greasy, and not styled well. And when I called back to let my stylist know she invited me back for a second appointment. The day before my reschedule, she called to cancel.Don't waste your money....I wasted $90. Just because people have high booth rent and high prices doesn't mean you'll get high-end service. Michael should take the time to read these reviews.

I had my first visit to the Michael Andrews Salon about three weeks ago. While I love my hair and the staff was very friendly and professional, IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE. I don't have $165.00 worth of hair and that was at a discount. i need to go back but I can't afford it!!! Please Michael, we are in a recession. I don't think you will be in business much longer if you don't come down to more affordable and realistic prices.

The salon is well situated with easy access parking. The staff is friendly, but not overwhelmingly professional. The quality of hair care is high. There is a tendency to overbook, so that services seem to be a bit slow. Services are expensive, and for the cost, I would expect additional conveniences, ex. beverage service.

I just visited the Michael Andrews Salon in Herndon, VA.
My experience was less than stellar, and that is putting it mildly. I called earlier in the day and Michael (owner) told me to come right over. I did, expecting to be seen soon, since he had told me to come on down. Boy was I wrong! Not only did I wait longer than expected, but I waited for three hours before I was put into the stylist's chair. That wasn't even the worst of it. There was another patron who said she had been there for five hours, and still was not done! I asked if she was a walk-in and she said no. She had called and made an appointment.
Once I finally got into the chair for a blowdry and curl, I was greeted by the stylist, who was very personable. She styled my hair in about twenty minutes to half an hour. During this time, she noted my ends were damaged and suggested a trim. I consented and she trimmed my hair.
When it was all said and done, I was charged $68.00. I was very unpleasantly surprised at the cost, as I had thought the charge for my service was extremely overpriced. I did not recieve any high-end treatment. Plus the wait time was outrageous. I've stood and waited in lines to ride rollercoasters at Disney Worldfor for less time than what I did at this salon. More than that, the price did not fit the service. Was the place clean? Yes. Friendly people? Yes. Could I get that anywhere else? Yes!
I did not receive anything out of the ordinary. The expectations I had of the salon simply were not met. What I got was not worth the extra money the other reviewers said it would be. I recieved no different treatment than I would have recieved at another salon with lower prices. The biggest problem was the fact that I was charged and extra $10.00 because I have natural hair. When I inquired about this, I was told that it was because those with natural hair require more work from the stylist. In my case, that is totally untrue. It took the stylist all of a half an hour to do my hair. There was no "extra" work. The texture of my hair is fine, and not at all kinky, which is why I do not textrize or perm it. I don't need to. It's about shoulder length, and it isn't thick either.
DO NOT go to Michael Andrews salon unless you want to pay for an overly inflated bogus reputation, not actual service.
Maybe in the past, the salon was more, but all I got was a $68.00 bill for a blowdry and curl, a three hour wait, with a ten dollar penalty for not processing my hair. Made no sense. Needless to say, I will never visit the salon again. I didn't even get out of the salon with enough time to finish my errands for the day. I expected much more from a so-called upscale salon, but in turn got a lot less.

Michael Andrews Salon and Day Spa is the perfect way to pamper yourself once in a way. Yes, it is expensive. I have been here a couple of times and find that the service is very good. The place is clean and well maintained. Soothing music plays in the background. There are a lot of services offered for women and I was happy that they even had services here for men. I got a nice hair cut the first time and indulged in a Citrus Body Salt Glow spa treatment the second time around. They do a fine job of cutting and styling the hair. Ill be paying a visit soon.
