I have 2 chihuahuas I purchased from Pet Safari about 1 year apart. Both are from AKC licensed breeders. They are very healthy. They are both great babies and I would not trade them for anything. I buy all of their clothes and food from Pet Safari. They are very nice people and they have good advice.

I have several comments to add to the reviews. The first is that many of these comments are generalizations- not specific to PET Safari, Secondly, I go to Pet Safari 2-3 times A WEEK!! I have never seen it anything but clean and the puppies cared for. In addtion, any questions we have ever had they answered completely. In additon, I am sorry that the puppy ended up with Parvo, however with a 3-10 day incubation period- it very likely could have had it before it came to the shop.

i purchase feeder rats as well as breed pet rats for pet safari and can tell you that none of the rats are ever in 10 gallon tanks unless it is a mom that came in pregant and is allowed to have her babies before she is sold as a feeder. the cages are cleaned at least once a day. i will only purchase my pets as well as anything else they need from this store.

I have 2 pups from pet safari, one is a 8 month old minature pom and the other is a 13 month yorkie and they are both wonderful. They both are my pride and joy, my babies and I wouldn't change a thing bout them! They both had all their shots up to date and have turned out to be exactly the size and look they told me they would be. I found the staff there very helpful and caring for the animals. They also seemed to have a special bond and overwhelming concern for their pets to find good homes. I also am aware that they also purchase their own pets if desired so I very much doubt they would if they knew they were from puppy mills. My Ozzy and Bella were well taken care of while in their store and I can tell by their instant loving and cuddly response to me and my son! I am now recommending them to all my friends and have had friends purchase pups from them and they are also very proud parents of healthy happy puppies!!

I purchased two dogs from Pet Safari. Both are teacup poodles. The first was in January of 2009 and the second in December. Both dogs were in excellent health and had all paperwork and shots. They were both microchipped and the people were very helpful about explaining everything. I was impressed by the cleanliness and concern shown for the animals. While I was looking at mt first dog, a woman came in with a daughter about 8 years old. She wanted a puppy, but she was hitting and kicking her mother and throwing a temper tantrum. The owners refused to sell the puppy to them even though they had cash. I also purchased several african cichlids at this store. They are knowledgable about their products. When I had trouble with my tank, they really helped and gave me advise. Two of the fish I bought (the same day they received the fish shipment) died and they replaced them without a problem.

I really havent had any problems with Pet Safari. I purchased my toy poodle Max from there and everything was fine with him. They gave me his papers records and i even got a letter from his breeder with AKC papers. I will say though that i did notice all the puppies except mine acting a little "cage crazy"

The writer below is inaccurate in every sense of the word. The mishandling of this animal and exposing the dog to other animals is not the stores fault. This individual was offered a full refund which he refused and the puppy would have been taken to our vet and put on proper medication, then would have been quarantined until well. We do not euthanize our animals. The use of hand sanitizer is to prevent germs from being carried to our pups.We bleach our cages before any new animal is put into them including all the bars. His facts are distorted and we welcome anyone to come in and inspect our facility. We've passed 2 surprise inspections from both the city of colonial heights and the USDA. It's unfortunate when any dog is ill but this is not something that can always be prevented even though we take every step possible to do so. Pet Safari stands behind it's policies and facility.

DO NOT BUY!! They sold us a $750 puppy through the military financing program. The puppy showed full symptoms of PARVO within 4 days (the normal incubation period is 5-7 days prior to the onset of symptoms, although it can range from 3-12 days). PARVO is the deadliest and most contagious of canine diseases. It sloughs away the lining of the digestive tract. Symptoms include vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrea, and lack of energy. The diarrea has a strong fishy smell and progresses from normal coloring, to grayish/mucus colored, to bloody. If your puppy shows these symptoms, quarantine and take them to the vet immediately. Puppies generally die within 48-72 hours of showing bloody feces due to dehydration and malnutrition unless hospitalized and placed on an IV. Her treatment cost us over $1000 to date (she is still in the hospital and not eating as of this review). We already paid over $700 from this bill. We would have been satisfied if they simply offered to pay 50% of her purchase price toward the hospital bill (this would have covered the outstanding balance of her current bill). They offered to refund the money if we brought her back, but refused to pay any of the hospital costs from her treatment. Normally, pet stores and kennels euthanize dogs that are diagnosed with PARVO because the disease is highly contagious and the cost of care is prohibitive (see our costs above). Furthermore, the pet remains contagious for one month after recovery from PARVO. Concerned, we asked what they would do with her. They said they would nurse her back to health. This means either: 1) they are lying about euthanizing, or 2) they intend to sell an infected puppy (reminder, contagion remains with the puppy for 1 month). The end result is that we are out over $1750 for a puppy that may not survive the first week of ownership. All we asked was $325 and we keep the puppy. All they offered was a full refund for which they either kill a recovered puppy or risk introducing PARVO into another unsuspecting home. Furthermore, within the same week, they introduced 3 new puppies into the cage that our puppy occupied, KNOWING that she had PARVO. When we bought her, they told people to use hand sanitizer to "prevent the spread of PARVO". This is misleading as PARVO is immune to alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Bleach is the only, non-medical sanitizing agent that kills PARVO. They know this because they "sanitize the cages with bleach every week" to prevent the spread of PARVO. How much would you bet that sanitization does not include all of the bars? Would you bet the life of your new puppy, the cost of your new puppy, and a $1000 vet bill? If you have experienced the same thing, please include your reviews so people can see how prevalent this is.
