Reviews for Cat Hospital Of Tidewater

Ratings_icons Cat Hospital Of Tidewater is top notch! AAA+++

Andrew K.

I've been a client of the Cat Hospital of Tidewater since Dr. Bocian opened her practice. She and her excellent, caring staff have always provided the very best of care to my cats, from annual physicals, to vaccinations, to treating sniffles, allergies, or whatever sort of ailment. Drs. Bocial and Nelson have been there for us through it all ... and they care ... it's never easy to "put a cat down" for a terminal illness, but the NICE people there are understanding and they truly care.

Running a little late? probably. Building a little worn around the edges? So what!?! They CARE and they GIVE CARE ... they're absolutely top notch in every way!

This place has such a welcoming atmosphere, that I felt at ease as soon as I walked in.
The veterinarian did seem a bit harried, but she took every measure to make sure that my kitties were well taken care of. She listened to my concerns patiently and addressed every one of them.

There were at least 5 happy cats walking around in there, which shows that these people really do love their animals!

I love this place, and am so happy to have found it!

This is best cat hospital I've ever experienced and I have had cats all my long life. There are no dogs treated here and many cats live there and are also blood donors. If it smells like cats it's because it's full of CATS! If the staff or doctor seem harried or rushed, it's because they have a full schedule of cats who need attention. There's lots going on in the back rooms you can't see and anytime there's a cat in serious distress, tensions are high. I would recommend this facility to anyone who truly loves cats and wants the best possible diagnosis and treatment for them.

I originally visited this clinic for my aging cat because I incorrectly assumed that the vet was a board-certified feline specialist, having been fortunate to have such expertise when living in another state. During the first visit, I was appalled at the facility, the lack of professionalism of the staff, and the bedside manner of the veterinarian. The facility was unclean with cat hair and an overwhelming smell of cat urine throughout. My long wait did not bother me but the lack of friendliness and communication by the staff was troublesome. During the exam the vet seemed frustrated and angry, not really focusing on my cat or any issues that I had. I thought that maybe she was having a bad day. Not the case...after a series of visits, I found another veterinary hospital that is clean, professional, and reasonably priced. I am sorry to say that do not recommend this facility.

The Cat Hospital of Tidewater may have the appearance of a loving, nuturing, caring facility for cuddly cats, but BEWARE: this clinic is nothing more than a money scamming litter box. Upon entering, you are eerily greeted with the smell of cat urine - it hits you immediately. Then there is the 1970's decor, including the fading ceiling tiles covered in moisture stains. After a long wait, (of course you made an appointment - but that doesn't matter) - you will be whisked away into a small unventilated room approximately 45 minutes later, which they will claim is because they want to give "every cat the proper care and treatment" - it's all so the Vet can plot a scam on your wallet with her devious staff- Once in 1 of the 2 "exam" rooms - you can't help but notice the smell of cat urine and stains. When the Vet does finally show - just wait until you read the laundry list of items she has waiting for you and your cuddly one - all considered "routine." And forget discussing your concerns - the Vet has her ideas already planned for your kitty - just wait until check out - additional "routine" items have been added to your bill that you never discussed. Don't try discussing things with her at this point either - she'll try to convince herself that you all discussed everything during the "exam." - just watch her in action with unsuspecting patrons in the waiting room. Most patrons are senior citizens - I watched as she changed her "diagnosis" three times on a poor unsuspecting older gentleman. You'd think with all the money they are scamming from people they could at least clean the place up - perhaps pick up a couple of bottles of Nature's Miracle. You are better off taking your kitty to Banfield at Pet Smart. Don't waste your time or hard earned dollar here and certainly don't put your furry friends at risk! Shame on you Cat Hospital of Tidewater...Shame!

Ratings_icons The only place to take your cat!

The Cat Hospital of Tidewater is one of the only veterinarian clinic dedicated to cats in the Hampton Roads area. The Cat Hospital is hard to miss, with the outside of the building covered with painting of cats. After my brother first saw the Cat Hospital of Tidewater, he insisted that he take his cat there. At first I was not sure that this veterinarian clinic would be that much better than a regular veterinarian clinic, but I was very impressed with the level of care and attention they spent with his cat. My favorite part of the clinic is that there are no dogs barking and stressing out the cat.

PROS: love that there are no dogs!
