We have eaten regularly at Sal's for years and years. We really enjoy the food there. Lately though, the service and attention to detail has really been lacking. The past 3 times we've ordered food for takeout, either they messed our order up in some way or they had left something out of the bag, One time one of the guys at the counter stood there and argued with me over whether or not he had put sauce in with an order of mozarella sticks...he kept saying he had, but there was no sauce in the bag.
The past couple of times that we've dined in, their service has left alot to be desired as well. The waitstaff has been really inattentive...in some cases we felt totally ignored by the waitstaff...leaving us at our table for a long time before ever taking our orders or not checking to see if we needed drink refills or anything else. We have had to actually get up and go find a waiter to help us.
We do enjoy the food there though...they have great pizza and subs and a great calzone and great choice of Italian dishes... and in the past Joe has seemed to really care that his customers were all treated with a great experience at Sal's...but it has gone downhill and I don't care to play the odds. So we have been eating at Sandro's across the bridge in Fairlawn. Their pizza, subs, and calzones taste about the same as Sal's, are a little bit cheaper and we have never had bad service there.
