Had been taking my dog to this vet for few years my dog started to form a knot under his belly I was concerned so took him in to have checkup. The vet told me that it was a fatty tumor nothing to worry about so I didn't think much of it some time past it grew to the size of a softball, finally it opened and drained and I took my dog back in to be checked. I was told surgery would be best. I took him in had the operation which cost wasn't my issue I loved my dog. After the operation now the knot began to grow underneath his private area now after everything the vet says "Oh somehow we missed it this must be cancer it common" well it may be common but why not biopsy it when it was little, they took blood work, but this is a no brainer that the knot itself needed checking. I love my pet today I had to have him put under this was a sad day for me my advice is don't believe everything your told get second opinions. I am not on here to bash him as a person but I do feel this vet he was negligent. I feel the surgery at earlier stage could have been better chance of my pets survival.

I have never commented on a review before but after reading I felt compelled to...
I am not taking sides here, as I am not a patient of this vet but I'd like to say that anytime an animals teeth are cleaned, they usually do extract the teeth if there is cavities because unlike humans, there is no way to fix a cavity in an animals mouth. You can't put fillings in an animals mouth. So to the person with the negative review - which would you prefer...leaving the cavities in the mouth of your beloved pet only to possibly get a bad toothache later and suffer unneccessarily or romove the cavities and your pet never have that kind of pain? I've had a bad toothache before and I hope my beloved dog never has to suffer through that!
My 5 star rating is in response to all the positive comments I see on here.

I have taken my dogs here since they were puppies and now drive 2.5 hours each way for vet visits as I trust Dr. Carter so much. Dr. Carter is knowledgeable and I appreciate his honesty in caring for my pets.

On a side note, I read the negative review on this page about the dental cleaning experience and I do not agree with the decision of the author. Tooth extractions are routine in dental cleanings, especially if you do not have your pets teeth cleaned regularly. Cavities left in a pets mouth can make it uncomfortable for your pet to eat and can lead to serious infections if they are not taken care of. As the owner of a dog who has had numerous teeth extracted, I have found that the vet always took time to explain why the teeth needed to the removed and consequences if they had not been. For anyone thinking about scheduling a pet dental cleaning, make sure this is something you speak to your vet about up front so that you are aware of what is involved in the procedure.

These people are the best! I have so many pets and they are excellent with their care. When my dogs have had to be put to sleep, the compassion they showed was above and beyond. I love both Dr. Carter and Dr. Duhamel. I drive 25 minutes to get there, but it is worth it.

I have been taking my pets to Dayton Vet since I've owned pets. I have never had any problems with the doctor or the staff. Receptionists are always so courteous. Dr Carter is passionate about the animals and it shows in the work that gets done. They don't overcharge and get everything done in a very pleasant manner!

My dog was there recently for a cleaning purpose. However, the veterinarian had pulled out 11 of her teeth out for a no particular reason. They did this without our permission and gave us nonsense excuses for doing this. As far as I'm concerned, there was no cavities and there was absolutely nothing wrong with my dog. The people at the vet were not feeling guilty at the fact and instead they had the guts to charge us for pulling out her teeth. How is this possible? I bet this is not they're first time doing this. Otherwise, they would feel remorseful and at least apologize to us. So, we have decided to go to court. I am writing this to let everyone know about this incident and that you become aware of this vet. You never know what's going to happen to your pet.

They have made me happy in many ways, never feeling im pushed to buy more or do any unnecassary procedures which you will have with most vets. I was super happy when my dog had worms and i took the samples to another vet where they acted as thoughi needed to bring the dog in for blood samples and it was going to cost like $100.00 ... so i called Dayton and they gave me a simple pill that i could give to the dog myself and it took care of the worms for only $30.. i hope they never change!

I turst this place with my beloved pets more than I trust anyone. The care is fist class, the people are friendly, true aninal loving people, and the prices are not overly inflated. I feel the vets here are more involved in animal care than making a major profit and not only is that good for my budget, it also gives me more confidence in the care my animals receive.
