Total Crafts Stores

On June 4th, 2006 I took a triptych to the Chantilly store to be framed. The woman measured everything carefully then spent quite a bit of time entering all the information into the stores computer. We were given the bill for the service, which ran $40 to $50 per panel, and told it would be available by June 27th. So last weekend Jun 24th I called the store to see if it had come in perhaps a little early. The woman couldnt find the order so asked if she could call me back on Monday.

Monday afternoon I get a call from the store telling me that not only had they not started working on the order, they had not charged me correctly and it was going to cost around twice as much.

I had considered the original cost they had charged me to be reasonable, but not only did I find doubling the cost unreasonable, the fact that the woman only wanted to know if she could charge me more and then not deliver it for another three weeks or so to be quite astounding.

I explained that since they had the order for over three weeks I found it quite inexcusable to call me the day before it was due to tell me they had made an error. Two days after placing the order we could have discussed it. Twenty-three days later was utterly unfathomable. There was no apology, no regret just an attitude.

I do not recommend this framing shop for ANYTHING. They do not know how to run a business or provide any degree of customer service. The fact that my art work was still in the store tells me that the order was probably lost and nothing was done on it until I called to find out its status.

Stay away from this store.

CONS: Total lack of regard for customer service

This is not a big place for art supplies and craft like the other shops like A.C.Moore or Michaels. I visited this shop because they regularly send out local flyers with coupons like "$5 off $10 purchase". The aisles are not properly organized, but I found a couple of good items on sales. The frames' selection for photos and posters is okay. If you are into crafts and arts, you can give this place a try during sale to get some good finds, and also a backup to buy something you cannot find in your regular art store.

This store is probably adequate if you are trying to get usual crafts supplies. They regularly send out coupons, and the location is very easy to get in and out, with ample parking spaces. However, I would not recommend it because the employees did not seem knowledgeable or pleasant. Recently we had a special project that required a particular item. We called around all the craft stores and art specialty stores, and could not find it. We finally called this store and the employee cheerfully told us they carried this item. We were so excited and drove extra miles to this place. When we got here, the employee had no idea what we were talking about. Her attitude was also not very pleasant. We did not get the name of the employee who talked to us on the phone, so we had to leave the store empty-handed. It was a very bad experience because we had called to confirm the product availability, but we were told incorrect information and wasted our time and energy.

PROS: Adequate usual crafts supplies.
CONS: Poor customer service in terms of product knowledge and attitude.

This store has a small variety of crafting supplies. Not really worth your time if you just want to browse but if you know it carries what you are looking for, give it a shot. Their scrapbooking aisles are usually pretty shady! Not a whole lot there at all .But, they do have some cute albums that I have not seen elsewhere. They have a small selection of papers and stickers and that's about it. They send out coupons regulary but DO NOT take competitors coupons.
