I have been going to Peking Gourmet since the early 80's and have never had a bad meal. I love the family style servings and the lazy susan on the table to facilitate sharing. The duck is always cooked to perfection then carved tableside. The pancakes are thin so they complement and not over power the duck. Make sure you ask to take the carcass home to make duck soup! The whole family loves to watch as they assemble the first pancake for you with two spoons.
Reservations are a must, especially on the weekend and with large parties. This is a little more expensive than your typical Chinese restaurant but it is well worth it.
I know this place because once George Bush visited this place as well as other celebrities. I went there with my wife and one friend who are both from China. At first we think it was a small place but I was wrong. There is a huge room behind the small door. The food is ok, the best is the Peking Duck, and remember to ask for the soup which is made from the un-used part of the duck you ordered. The price is a little high comparing to other Chinese restaurant I have been to, but the service is so much better.
PROS: Good service
CONS: High price
I dont think words can describe how great this restaurant is. Although outside of dc this is the place for a power dinner with heads of state from all over visting this wonderful restaurant. While somewhat pricey, this restaurant is by far my favorite, beating out maestro. Get the pecking duck, youll never forget it.
Pros: FOOD, FOOD, FOOD
