I've been a steady customer since they opened a couple/few years ago. A terrific little neighborhood deli and grocery store! The space is small, but the service, range of freshly prepared deli foods and stock grocery store items more than compensate for the cramped quarters. A wide variety of sandwiches (hot and cold), salads, party trays, are prepared to suit individual tastes. The freshly sliced meats and cheeses are not rolled up in a ball as one reviewer commented. It's a deli and grocery store, not a three-star restaurant, order something and enjoy.

I often go to the Metro Cafe and Gourmet because they have the only brand of cold cuts that I will eat -- Boar's Head. This brand is very hard to find in the area, so they pretty much have me. However, unless you're dead set on getting cold cuts I would recommend the place.

The chief problem is the manner in which they cut the cold cuts. They generally throw the cold cuts in a pile and then literally crumple them up into a ball .. this makes them very difficult to separate when you're trying to make a sandwich. Unfortunately, the employees do not have a particularly solid grasp on the English language so despite my repeated requests for them to not smash the cold cuts together they do it anyway. Also, I have received the wrong item more than one time because they don't understand what I'm asking for.

If I knew of another place that sold Boar's Head, I'd be going there .. I would not recommend this establishment.

PROS: Boar's Head Brand
CONS: They make a mess out of your cold cuts
