Argia's Restaurant

★★★☆☆
Named for the owner's Italian grandmother, this place ought to do pasta well. It does. The mushroom ragu is divine.

I've had great meals at Argia's. The service has always been good. It's a lot of very typical italian food, but all very nicely done. The fried risotto balls are terrific, and anything that involves eggplant is too. They are also a good spot for private parties. I had a bridal shower there on a Sunday and we had the place to ourselves. The service was relaxed and on-the-spot, and it was surprisingly affordable.

They are almost there with the food, like it could be great, but it's not quite there. And the bread was definitely blah. The service though...very bad. Waitress did not even know all the drinks on the menu. Maybe she was new and I should give her a break, but she really didn't know anything about the menu. Why would they hire someone who wasn't going to study the menu and be able to help the customer? The wait for our food was forever and other people who came in later were already finishing their first course before we even got our drinks. I would not go back until the management changes! Hopefully that will be soon, because the food was really passable for a local weeknight Italian restaurant. Nothing to write home about though.

Several words apply here: charming, rustic, welcoming. The menu is welcoming, too. We started with the beef carpaccio. We found the salami, provolone, and caramelized onion combination sandwich a particular delight. Pastas are…
