They've always done a good job changing the oil and rotating and balancing my tires, and with their coupons, it's a good price.

I too have a Tahoe. I too had a noise in it, a scraping noise. I did research on this prior to taking it in for repair. There seems to be a major problem with GM rear disc brake backing plates rusting badly to the point that the parking brake shoes almost fall off the vehicle. The mechanic that looked at my car diagnosed the problem and it was explained to me by Ron. As I did find out about this problem prior to taking it in for repair I was prepared for what was to come. The repair was completed and no further problem. If someone was able to "fix" this problem for $45, all they could have done was mask the problem by bending the backing plate back till it was no longer rubbing your rotor. Not repaired, just covered up till it causes a much bigger problem in the future. And, for the guy that was wondering why brakes on one wheel wear out quickly when the others are still good, it is usually calipers that stick that cause the problem. Only way to fix the problem is to replace the defective part, usually in pairs so the will wear evenly. For the guy with the air conditioner that blew up, did anything they repaired break again? Lots of parts in an air conditioning system. fix a weak area today, another weak area that is working fine today breaks tomorrow. The guy with the engine that blew up, just need to know if coolant had been leaking into the engine for awhile before the repair was done. If it had been, that probably was the cause of the engine failure. Coolant is wonderful at keeping your engine cool but it is a very poor lubricant. If there was coolant mixing with the oil for awhile, probably destroyed the bearings and unfortunately it broke shortly after the repair trying to keep your engine alive. I could go on about these posts bashing this shop but I will stop here. I am a mechanical engineer. I know how engines and mechanical devices work and what causes them to fail. Most of the time, failure can be attributed to lack of maintenance. When repairs are finally done, it is so late that the system or machine integrity has been compromised. No amount of bandaids will fix a poorly maintained car. In my years, I have found most mechanics to be trustworthy. I trust my car to the guys at Mr. Tire. Never had a problem with them. I do check things out due to wanting to know how it works and how it breaks and if there was anything I could have done to break it or if it just wore out. I read what Ron J. said and I think he may be the Ron at the shop. 98% of the customers are good and trust who works on their car and understand that the mechanics are human and do make mistakes. I have seen mistakes made at Mr. Tire and I have seen them stand behind their work and make any mistakes right. That is integrity. The other 2% of customers are looking for the person that will do it the cheapest way even if it is not the correct way. Cheapest doesn't usually equal the best way. I am happy to recommend this shop to anyone. In my eyes, they are the best.

I went to Craven (now Mr Tire here Vienna, Arlington) for many years. The location was great and so were the discount coupons. But during each of my last three trips there was about $700 worth of maintenance. I did the first two times but the last time it looked like they were doing work they had already done. They were willing to take a few of them off but would not let me pass inspection unless I got new brakes and rotors and some new Pcv values. They recommended the brake repair to be done in no more than a weeks's time as driving with warped rotors would put me and my family in danger.

So I decide to have the car checked somewhere else and went to a shell with large repair facility. It passes inspection without any issues. I even asked them to double check the breaks and the manager confirmed the brakes are fine.

About a month later I took my car to my dealership to have two new tires put on. I handed them the estimates from Cravens. They came back and decided all was unnecessary and just changed the tires, thou if just for tires Costco is certainly a better deal.

I would recommend avoiding the new Craven's/Mr Tire auto or if you like the location and hours, take someone with you who is good with car repair. From what I hear, I most likely spend the other $700s unwisely.

there always 2 sides to every story, but if trust somebody and have always used them, then you should stay with them, but if your a jumper and go from place to place ,you will never trust or be trusted on what you say or do, some people are 2% percentors, other 98% are customers for life

Don't ever go there. I was taking my car there and after expending 1000 on repairs and checks because there was something wrong with the AC, my AC valve exploded in the middle of the road, very scary, also they charged me 500 for a 90,000 miles inspection when my car was only 84 000 and when I took my car to another mechanic my car was dry, not a single liquid was checked as part of the inspection. I spent over 2000 in 6 months and after that the car was completely broken. Please avoid this people, they should not be allowed to work on anything related to cars.

They charged me over $900 to repair my intake gasket, which is actually a normal fee. But this was not the problem I am complaining about. COMPLAINT: I didn't learn until later after my engine had blown and after I had sold my car to a mechanic for scrap that the Mr. Tire mechanic had file the gasket rim down, causing metal shavings to enter the engine compartment. When I complained, the manager Ron Jones said they did not do this and that they were not responsible for my car. No one else could have caused this! And what are the odds my engine would blow only three weeks after this "repair" while casually driving down the highway. It doesn't take a genius to do the math here.

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had in any car repair place. Cravens Tire and Auto (Mr. Tire) in Sterling on Davis Drive SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. I went in for a routine oil change, and tire rotation. I had just recently purchased the car, and a complete inspection right after purchasing it from another, TRUSTED mechanic. He told me that the brakes and tires had at LEAST another 15,000 miles on it. I asked Craven's to do the same thing, to check the tires and brakes, and let me know when I would have to replace them. Well I picked up the car, and they told me "Oh, you're good to go for another 10,000 miles before you need to replace the brakes" so I paid $60 for oil change and rotation and left. Immediately after I started driving the car, I felt something was wrong, as at higher speeds the car would start to vibrate in the steering wheel, which it had never done before. About 200 miles after the oil change I started hearing a noise when I would press the brake, it got progressively worse. Well today, less then 600 miles after I initially took it in, I took it back in to see if they could fix the noise that was caused by something they did when the rotated the tires. Imagine my surprise when I got a call from the manager Nathan Russell, telling me that I needed 4 new brakes, and new tires! I was furious! The car never had a single noise before I brought it to them, and I was told by the same person that I had at least 10,000 more miles on it before I needed to change the brakes, and now, less the 600 miles later, I need new brakes and tires. Not only that, I got an estimate for the rear brakes only (only one side of the rear was worn down, very strange why the rest hadn't worn, but only that one side) and they gave me estimate for $700! FOR BRAKES! I was shocked! I then called the initial mechanic, the trusted one, and he gave me an estimate of $285, parts and labor! The only reason I took it to Mr. Tire in the first place was because it was conveniently located across the street from my work. NEVER AGAIN WILL I STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS! I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW, TO STAY AWAY FROM MR. TIRE IN STERLING OF DAVIS DRIVE!!
