I have had no problems with the staff here so far, and the vets are very caring. Whenever I have a problem with one of my animals I call them and they do whatever they can, sometimes without me even making an appointment. Dr Truban took my dog on a Sunday once in an emergency, and on another occasion called me late in the evening to make sure my dog was ok after a close call with chocolate poisoning. I would definitely recommend this veterinary clinic.

We recently brought in our 10-year-old rabbit to Dr. Truban on an emergency basis. Both the staff and Dr. Truban were accommodating and very kind. A diagnosis was made quickly and options for treatment were discussed thoroughly. I was very happy with our experience there.

I had 3 dogs and was new to Shenandoah County. I needed a vet that was close to home. I picked Shen Animal Hospital. The vet herself, Dr Edleman, was the nicest person I have ever met. She showed concern in trying to comfort my scared dog, get to know my dog, and try to figure out what was wrong with her. She spent the time that I felt was needed with us before rushing off to help other people. One of the my other dogs became ill and we went thru several expensive treatments over a few weeks before putting her to sleep. Dr Edleman was right there with us each step of the way. Money was never an option.
I will say the reception staff at the Woodstock office is very rude. I called there to speak with Dr Edleman to find out if my dogs remains were ready and just to talk to her for a few minutes, as she had told me to do if I wished, and her staff was very rude and wanted to not take a message. They basically slammed the phone in my ear. I have been back with a guinea pig to get its nails clipped. The vet told me to schedule an appointment to look at its skin because it had a rash. When I went out front to do so the reception kept telling me they didnt see rodents and that there was no way the doctor told me to make an appt. Well the doctor came out and told them to schedule an appt. They still are rude but the care of the staff that matters is great. I would not go anywhere else.

I was going through the local animal services listings deciding on somewhere to board my dogs this spring and I ran across the review for Shenandoah Animal Hospital. While I feel for the lady who wrote the previous review and know how she must feel, I have to say I have had no unprofessional or rude service from this hospital. I've been there three times, both in the Woodstock office and the Strasburg office and have no complaints. The staff was never rude to me or my husband and we were never asked about money or the level of care we could afford. While I do not doubt the reviewer is being accurate and is upset, I feel I need to balance the ratings a bit and say I am satisfied with their service and found the receptionist friendly to me and to others checking in and out. Being new to the area I have heard the comparisons being made about the first Dr. and his son. I can only say he came out to my house when I called him in a panic over a horse and was very helpful. I plan to continue with this practice.

Though this happened 4 years ago, this month, I still feel angry at how both my dog and myself were treated by the staff at Shenandoah Animal Hospital. My mixed breed dog, had back to back UTI's, drank copius amounts of water and urinated frequently. So I was concerned that he was diabetic. When I suggested this to the Vet attending to us, her question was how much money I had to spend?"I said I was not rich, but would do anything to make him well. " She in turn did nothing but treat his UTI, once again. All I wanted was the proper blood test to be performed. She ordered no blood work. Also, when I asked for copies of my dog's records and rabies certificate, it was literally thrown at me, by reception. When I moved to the midwest, just a week after this appointment, My fiancee and I took him to his Vet. I once again suggested, that my dog may have diabetes . They performed a complete profile, and no surprises here, my dog's blood sugar levels were off the charts high!! Also , no one asked how much money I was willing to spend. He was started immediately on 12 units of insulin daily. This increased over a 3 year period, until he was 18 units daily. Also, he went blind just months after diagnosis. The Vet here believes, the sudden blindness was due to negligence of The Shenandoah Animal Hospital. Not every diabetic goes blind. However my dog went untreated for over a year. Remember, I said he was treated over and over for UTI's, but no blood test, ever at S.A.H.
My little guy died in 2007.
Dr. William Truban DVM, was an awesome Vet, a man with integrity and love for animals, too bad his son ruined this clinic.
