I cant say much about the care of Dr. Taylor or their team because I decided after taking my dog there to get neutered to not go based on aesthetic issues I saw. I lived in Johnson City for about 5 years and took my dog and cat to different vets in that area. With every vet I went to, the facility was well taken care of on the outside as well as the inside. I feel that a vet is similar to a doctors office and should look clean. When I pulled into the parking lot at Wythe county animal clinic I thought to my self...ok well they defiantly need to pull the weeds and clean up a little around the outside. Fine. My dog isnt having surgery outside. So when I walked inside my stomach dropped. There was about 12 different people in a very small waiting room...fine....they must be doing something right for so many people to be there. So my eyes wandered while I waited in line. I look at the floor and think to myself this is completely unacceptable. The floor tiles were coming up, the rugs there were filthy and my dog could smell females on them and went psycho. I look at the ceiling. The ceiling tiles are falling down. When I get to the front desk I tell them I came for a neuter and I handed her my dogs shot records. She stated "its not necessary that we have those but we can put them on file for you." I thought to my self...wow thats kind of weird...my dog is about to have surgery and you dont even want his information....your actually doing other dogs surgery without their information. This threw up a huge red flag. While I sit there in awe, I look behind the desk and see a baby crying in a play pin and a huge grey hound run around. After all that has transpired I decided this was not the place for me to have my dog to have surgery.

Being new to the area I had heard nothing but "good" about Dr. Taylor. I read reviews etc...Made an appointment to have my two cats spayed, and my new puppy his parvo shot. After picking up my cats the next morning I wasn't told anything except to bring them back in 7-10 days to have there stitches removed. I was asked 3 seperate times if I also wanted my puppy dewormed. I said no (because we had the medicine ourselves at home). When Dr. Taylor came in to give him his parvo shot she also dewormed him. She did not introduce herself. We were not even told what we needed to do in the future, as far as shots etc..for our puppy. She did not even tell us when we needed to have him back (not that we will take any of our animals back). After getting home and seeing our cats for the first time. They looked horrible. They had dried blood all over them.
I have to say I have never been treated so rude and unprofessional in my entire life by a vet. They are cheap..I guess you get what you pay for.
I would not recommend her to anyone.

Dear Misinformed Leanne H.
"Parvo", or Feline Parvovirus, also known as Panleukopenia, is a very real disease which affects millions of cats and kittens, as any reputable veterinarian, book, or website will tell you. Please make sure your information is accurate before you go public with it!

These are just the nicest people....Finally you can take your dog to the vet and still be able to buy your groceries....God Bless Wythe County Animal Clinic and Dr. Taylor. We drove about 45 miles because we could not afford the vets in our town....I am so very thankful.

Parvo is a canine (dog) disease only so it would be impossible for a kitten you adopted from anywhere to have parvo!! make sure your information is accurate before you go public with it!

Excellent!!! I have always found them to be very helpful and professional. I have had to cancel and reschedule at the last moment and they are always super nice about it, never seeming put out. so far I have had four male cats neutered and everything went fine. the cats are healthy and happy. they always take the time to speak with you when you go to pick your pet up, making sure to answer any questions you have. i would advise anyone who has a pet and needs vet services, to check them out.

I used to take my dogs to a vet that was a 10 minute drive from me, but the are very high priced and do not seem to be as genuinely concerned about my pets as I thought they should have been. I now drive 30 miles to take my pets to Dr. S L Taylor (Dr. Larry Taylor's wife). She is very caring, knowledgeable, competent and does not charge an arm and a leg to care for your pet. I will and have recommended this husband and wife team of excellent vets to others for the care of their large animals and small pets.

Doc, and Mrs.Taylor, have been our vets for several years. I can not begin to tell the stories of the times they have helped us. Just recently our dog of 17 years got ran over at midnight, I picked up the phone called Doc Taylor he met us there by 1:30am. They have come to the house in the freezing cold to look at our cows, help deliver baby calves in the middle of the night. They have been very compassionate and up front about what was wrong with our animals. I highly recommend using them as your vet if you love your animals.

At one time, Dr. Taylor was one of the best vets around. Now, I feel that is far from the truth.

Back in the summer of 2006, we had a four year old Rottweiler that started acting lethargic and wouldn't eat. We took him to Dr. Taylor's office. She briefly looked him over and said it was summer pneumonia and sent us home with some antibiotics and a steroid.

Two days later, his condition was even worse than before. We took him back to Dr Taylor's office, where he died in the waiting room. Dr. Taylor didn't even show any compassion. She just felt his pulse and said "He's dead" and literally walked away. Someone else in the office ran up and gave him a shot to try bringing him back, which didn't work. We were later told it was probably cancer, not pneumonia.

That same day, we were essentially guilted into taking a kitten from the Clinic by someone that worked there. It was 3pm, they had five of them and made the comment that if no one took them by the end of they day, they were euthanizing them.

The kitten died of parvo three days later.

We assumed it was bad luck, since we had heard Dr. Taylor was a wonderful vett, so in early 2007 when we needed to have our Great Dane spayed, we took her there also.

They didn't keep her overnight, which should have been a red flag, but after bringing her home, she died that night in her sleep. Feeling that this was not just another instance of bad luck, we had a necropsy performed.

The doctor that performed the necropsy confirmed that she had bled internally from her left ovary stem because the stitches weren't tight enough.

Since these events, I've heard plenty of other horror stories and things that just don't quite add up about the Wythe County Animal Clinic, plus met plenty of people that absolutely refuse to take their pets there.

Do yourself a favor and take your pets to Dr. Beamer or Vet Jesse to save yourself the heartache of losing a pet.

I have quite a few critters and Dr. Taylor is the only one I would trust. Very professional and knows his animals. I have taken in many sick and hurt horses and he has been great with each one from blind horses to my daughters favorite horse who died of cancer. Dr. Taylor was great with the animal and a broken heart daughter. No one else will ever be called for my 4 legged friends. I would reccommend him compleatly.

Dr. Taylor and staff:
Thank you so very much for all the care you gave my little Kizzie. My heart is aching, but I know she is in a better place.
Words can't say how grateful I am for Dr. Taylor.
You took care of my little Jennifer in her need and now my little Kizzie.
God Bless all of you.

I have taken my cats, dogs and horses to the Taylors for years. My personal experience with them has been excellent. They are all very caring, not only for your pets but for your feelings too, especially during a loss of your dear pet. This is not just a job to them it is a PASSION!!!. They are very reasonably priced and won't do unnecessary tests. I would very highly recommend all of the Taylors to anyone that cares about the treatment of their pets. They will come out for emergencies at all hours of the night or day.I have never seen Larry Taylor without a smile on his face. I asked him how he could alway be so happy even with the long hours that he puts inand he responded," BECAUSE I LOVE WHAT I DO"I THINK THAT SAYS IT ALL!!!!
