I have been coming to Yates for awhile now, but recently things have gotten much better. I had my oil changed on July 25th and the crew that was working was great. Even the guys who were not working on my car made a point to talk to me.

YATES AUTO REPAIR IS A HUGE RIP OFF!! Years ago I took my SUV for an oil change while I went to get my nails done in the same shopping center. While there I got a call that if I didn't fix what they were saying it needed, it would be dangerous for me. I of course agreed to the work. I then called my friend and he told me to ask them for the parts they were changing. Less than an hour later when I went to pick up my car, the bill was $400+ and when I asked for the parts they took out, they told me they had been thrown in the trash and could not be recovered. I didn't go there for years. Then just last week we took one of the cars for state inspection. It failed and we thought it might because there was a chip on the windshield. We took the car got the windshield replaced. Then took the car back. When we were both there they told us the car only needed a windshield, but when I took it back for the re-inspection, they failed it and said it needed hundreds of $$$ of work. I didn't agree to it, then took it down the street and it passed. BE AWARE HUGE RIP-OFF.

WATCH OUT FOR YATES EXPRESS LUBE!! They will try to "upsell" you every time! I have taken my 97 Jaguar there for 6 years...until yesterday. I had a "check engine" light on, and I already knew from research that it was likely due to a vaporlock reaction from getting gas on a long road trip recently. It probably triggered the catalytic converter sensor, but was harmless and common. All I needed was a diagnostic on the code, confirmation that it was no big deal - and a reset. After $117 just to check the code and reset it, "Ray" tried to tell me that my catalytic converter was BAD and would cost $1441 to replace!!! I told him no, let's just see if the light comes on again. If it does, you'll be right. If it doesn't, I'm right. I was right. And now I'm MAD.

My boyfriend went in for an oil change this weekend. They checked his car and told him he needed to replace the heater hose and thermostat. These two parts plus oil change plus labor should have cost no more then $200... The bill totaled $666.13. And after all that was done... the car would not even start! The mechanic check again and said he would need another $2200 in work for the car to run again. Can anyone tell me how a perfectly good car goes in for an oil change and then won't run without almost $3000 in work. Needless to say, we have towed the car for a second opinion and are going to file with the BBB.

Last week, they told me they needed a special tool from their other location in order to change the oil. I was asked to leave the car with them at another day. I wasn't too happy about it because they're the one I've used in the past. I got a suspicious feeling that they had caused the damage. Today, my husband was stranded in the highway during rush hour because the Yates employee didn't tighten up all the bolts. He probably assumed I'll be returning in few days and didn't think it important. I wonder how much more this is going to cost me now with the towing and the repair. This is shocking! The bottom just fell off in the highway.
