I wish I could give this negative stars. I have NEVER had a worse experience at ANY establishment. Going to a hair salon should be a relaxing experience, I shouldn't be treated to painful hair pulling, combs raked across my scull and neck,

Disappointing is an understatement. I bought a coupon for a haircut & facial. The trouble starts when the receptionist calls at the very last minute to inform you the facialist cannot make the appointment. So, I agreed to get the facial another day. The cut which I assumed would be by Michel was done by a junior stylist. Was he busy? No! Receptionist told me she will call me once the facialist gets back. I give them time and 6 weeks later and no word from anyone, I call and the receptionist informs me that I have to directly book with the facialist though she will do it at their salon.

I had my hair cut today by Michel. He did a wonderful job! It looks fantastic! He was very attentive and asked questions, and tried to make sure that he did not cut too short. I had a coupon, and they honored the deal. I am very happy with my hair cut and think he did a wonderful job! I will likely use him again for cuts.

If the purpose of the discount coupon was to generate one-time customers, it was accomplished. Michel did not create an experience that motivated me to return. When you give a discount, you still need to provide a $200 experience. My cut was fine. The color and service weren't. The incentive was getting a discount for cut/color to celebrate my birthday. The colorist didn't completely cover all my grey. I can do that myself with a box of Clairol. I wanted something special for my b-day. When I pointed out that I still had grey after being in the salon almost 2 hours, I was told the color could be redone. I didn't have the extra hour to wait. I was dismissed by a receptionist and the blame was put on my not understanding the technology of color. She told me that she has seen this "hundreds of times" and it 'isn't anybody's faut." I was told I could return another day (that I don't have) to have the color redone. My "free" session to correct things will cost about 3 hours of my time including travel, if I return.

While the color was processing, the shampoo person gave a hand/back massage. It was wonderful. When the employee removed the towel to rub my back, hair dye dripped on a favorite T-shirt. I have this wonderful new technology color/shine, and grey showing on both sides of my face. I was just cattle in line. At Red Door, my convenience matters and not the other way around. They also don't stain my clothes.

I had purchased a gift certificate from there and looks like in the this period of recession, they are trying all cheap stunts to rob people of their money.

In any case, among all the services I was supposed to be entitled in the certificate, I had just requested only hair conditioning. As soon as I went in and the moment they realized that I wasn't going to pay extra for hair coloring, they completely ignored me and made me wait for a couple of hours (I am 7 months pregnant) with the conditioner on my head and nobody even bothered to get it washed off. They are absolute robbers, that's what they are! Please do not offer anybody gift certificates to this place and don't even buy one for yourself if you want value for your money!

I have been having my hair cut by Pia Byon (now at Michel Rene's) for more than 15 years now. I have followed her at every salon she's worked at. Her fees are very reasonable and I've been satisfied with every single hair cut - i have very unruly hair.

I have had good color and cuts there- expensive but worth it. The owner is very skilled with styles and the quality of the products are top notch- the color stays for a long time and looks great. The service is uneven and strange- sometimes I am just ignored almost rudely and sometimes the staff are polite and solicitous. I am not fussy about these things- I have been to elegant salons with a great deal of pretense where the price is higher, the service is perfect and the haircuts are no better.

I went to have my highlights retouched and ended up with the worst color ever - I needed to get it color corrected elsewhere. The cost was expensive, the service was not good, and the salon was not clean. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I asked the owner to give me a layered cut, which I already had. He thinned out my hair at the bottom and left it long at the top. I went to the Hair Cuttery the next day to have it repaired. They said they thought he tried to cut my hair into a "shag." I didn't even know what a shag was and I certainly didn't ask for it. It's going to take me six months to grow my hair back after the owner of this salon butchered it. He kept telling me to get weird highlights which I didn't want and wasn't the purpose of my visit. The owner should learn basic salesmanship -- DO WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTS, not whatever you feel like doing.

I tried Michel about 7 months ago when my own hairdresser was unavailable and have stayed with him since. Everyone tells me my cut and color have never looked better and that I look ten years younger. I have found the staff very pleasant and, while it is certainly not cheap, the results are worth it.

I have been going to Christina MR for 4 years now, and although she doesn't speak English too well (in case you want to talk about life), she does a great job.

I would agree with the other reviewers on the fact that the shampooers and office managers can be rude and the sinks can occasionally appear dirty (the dirty ones are not in use). However, at the end of the day, even though the cost is a bit high, I really like the way my hair looks and feels every time. Christina uses different coloring products from the rest of the staff, so if you are going to MR for highlights, I would suggest requesting her.

PROS: Quality of cut and color
CONS: Bad management, a bit pricey,

I tried one place for awhile but the person who did my hair wasn't the best and didn't do what was right for me. Then, my boss recommended Michel Rene which is where she went. Let me tell you the people there are wonderful. My new stylist listened to what I wanted and added his own recommendations. I can always count on him for honest opinions and he even gives me advice on coloring and what's best for my hair. They also offer manicures and pedicures and I think they have some other spa like treatments you can have done.
The staff is friendly and you will have a wonderful time and experience at Michel Rene. I recommend Mark!!!!!
