1 Stars: Working at Lowe's of Chantilly (by Joy J.)

Lowes of Chantilly, VA is one of the worst places to work as MALE Cashier. Its good if you are a FEMALE cashier, as all you have to do is cashier job. But, if you are a male cashier, most of the time, you will be asked to PUSH CARTS, come rain or shine or snow. You will be asked to do the LOADER's job, regardless if you are able to lift or not, regardless if you have back problems or not. WAYNE (EUGENE) the fat *** is the poster boy for "how not to manage", "how not to be a leader" OR the worst manager. Wayne who is the customer service supervisor, has NO supervisor skills whatsoever. No listening skills. YOUNG ATTRACTIVE Women cashiers get to do whatever they want, flex schedules, off whenever, not work in garden during cold winter or hot summer days, not working in Returns, Not working in Lumber. At Lowes of Chantilly, the Human Resource manager is FAT *** JOHN, who does not listen to employee complains or issues, regardless if they are genuine or not. He just ignores employees and acts as if he did a favor hiring anyone. This store is very discriminatory towards non-white employees. They are tricky, in that, they hire non-white employees, to show they are not discriminatory, but once hired the treatment is very very discriminatory. The scheduling is not fair. Some employees get favorable schedules since they are friends with management, while others always have to work late shifts and rarely get weekend days off. Chris the FAT store manager, never listens to anyone. He always says, talk and resolve with you immediate supervisor, even, when the problem itself is the immediate supervisor. Their open door policy is just in name. It is a joke. If you complain or point out the obvious, you are reprimanded. Employees are basically treated as PAID SLAVES. SARAH, THE FAT *** cashier rarely is scheduled on weekends. In winter she always goes to LUMBER and jokes around and has her friends bring her dinner since lumber is not busy in winter evenings. Look at the camera on January 7, 2011, she came in at 6 pm her schedule and then promptly at 6:30 pm she went go get dinner from wendys and took 45 minutes to eat from 7 to 7:45 pm. She gets favorable treatment always. In summers she is always sent to garden in evenings as its not that busy and the weather is nice. CARMEN the head cashier is a poster child for a PURE ***. She does not know her job. She always is buttering up her supervisors and giving favorable treatment to her friend cashiers such as SARAH the fat ***. I KNOW I can manage better, with more effectiveness and efficiency. Only need to get rid of problem management employees or get them the proper training.

2 Stars: Lowe's is good, but delivery service may have a problem. (by Christina C.)

We had a bad experience in that we discovered that we were missing a $400 piece of technology (iTouch) after having a large appliance delivered and installed. The service at the store itself was fine, we are crushed and disappointed that their contract delivery personnel may not be honest.

1 Stars: Not good for appliances or installation (by Tiffany Y.)

Employees did not know how to ring up items on their cash registers or how to look up orders. I bought a few major appliances online. When I scheduled delivery, they delivered only a range hood, which I could fit in my car, and none of the other appliances. I must have called the store about 100 times for about a month, and no one who answered the phone would listen to any details. I would say one sentence, and, without looking up my order, they would say that the appliances probably were not in stock or that I had not ordered them, and then end the call. Twice, they said that they would call me back, and they never did. Because they would not speak to me on the phone, I had to drive out there a couple times (50-minute drive in one direction) to speak to them in person, and they let another customer skip me in line once. A few employees stood in back joking around while no one even said one word to me. I had to take off work a few times, not just once, for the delivery on short notice, which employers are not OK with. The installers for the dishwasher even told me that the dishwasher did not work. I had to wait over a month and have another company, not associated with Lowes, come out to correct the installation.

4 Stars: I like (by Danny C.)

This place gets insanely crowded on the weekends and the parking lot is less than friendly on a hill with even meaner drivers skidding around, so be careful. The staff seems to know what is going on for the most part but you'll run into the occasional bum. This place is huge, and most people here will point you in the right direction or will help you get something for you. Go during the week, it's way less crowded.

3 Stars: A bit crowded but... (by Jennifer W.)

Lowes is a pretty good hardward store. It sure beats Home Depot in my book! It's a little, ok A LOT crowded on the weekends so try to go during the week! Most of the staff is pretty knowledgable. Sometimes you get someone that has no idea what you need but overall its good!
