Complete Satisfaction, My wife and I travel from Waldorf Md to John Alabasters shop to bring a Rolex, Pocket Watch, and 2 clocks.
My Rolex was repaired by a jeweler shop here in Md and was ruined, John took a look at it while we waited and saw the problem and quickly fixed it and did not charge us... We then left a antique 18kt Pocket watch that was in bad shape, 3 weeks later i was very satisfied with his work the watch turned out Great!
Jerry the clock maker is a very nice man and is very knowledgeable of the work he does. I left to french clocks that been sitting for years and he got them working with reasonable time.

Overall im very satisfied with this shop John Alabaster watch and Clock would recommend to others.

Imagine ... a $10,000 Ladies Rolex, yes the small one, almost totally destroyed after a Grand Prix ride in the rigors of a clothes dryer? What does one do? The Diamond Dial is the sole element intact save the crystal. The three hands are bent into a knotted puzzle. Even the 18-karat Rolex Crown is simply gone. Expecting the worst, a diagnosis that this Rolex is now "junk", I brought the watch to John Alabaster Watch & Clock. John's classic remark was ... "I will see if it can be made functional again. It's a big job. Please be patient."
I am extremely satisfied that I was patient! John, the gentleman that he is, patiently totally rebuilt this Rolex with precision and loving care into factory-new condition. He is a craftsman of the first order. The watch now runs perfectly with the Swiss-chronometer time keeping accuracy expected of a Rolex. Thank you John Alabaster!

My son,Craig referred to this unassuming watch repair shop. After leaving my Rolex for a complete refurbishing, it was returned to me better than new. A most rewarding experience for this Fargo, ND boy.

I have two antique wrist watches from my great grandma and my grandma, both are old and both are dear to me. John Alabaster has been servicing my watches since 1985. I take my watches in to have them cleaned and for work and he always does a fabulous job. I don't get the snarky comments from the others on this blog...sounds like high maintenance people to me.....John has a young man who works there who is quiet and polite and he is lovely, so the snarky comments about the men who work there are also just snarky and to be honest not very nice. Recently I bought ny husband a watch and John is refurbishing it for us as well. His prices are fair, have not changed much at all in over 20 years and He does good work. I think it is cowardly to go on line and trash a persons business and not leave your full name. I've trusted Mr Alabaster with my watches for over 25 years and will continue to do so gladly....signed Jennifer Keen- June 5, 2010.

He told me he could refinish the dial and sent it out, he put a jubilee band on it and cleaned the watch and i got it back in a few weeks! Im very happy with his service and i also purchased a automatic alabaster watch from him for my sons graduation and my son couldnt be happier about it! I would recommend him to anyone very honest and does quality work

We have been a happy customer of John Alabaster Watch & Clock for 30 years!! We have many very valuable family heirlooms that we have trusted John with through the years (especially my father's Rolex). It's always comforting to know it is always Jerry the clockmaker or John the watchmaker who fixes our quality pieces. John is not only well qualified to fix our watches and clocks, he is extremely personable and reasonable. We've had many friends in the metropolitan area who haven't been able to find quality watch/clock repair service nearby. We've referred them and all have been extremely pleased. I would recommend this quaint shop to anyone who misses good old fashioned service and conversation.

I took my prized Omega in for a cleaning and crystal replacement. The person behind the counter was a poorly dressed kid who could only respond questions with grunts.
When I asked how long the service would take, he responded "two or three weeks." When I expressed surprise at the length of time, he grunted "We're busy." I've used Alabaster's for years, but never again

I dropped off my very expensive watch for a simple repair and after many calls and 2 months I was told it was ready. I was literally sick to my stomach to see what John Alabaster had done to this watch. I ended up having to pay $250 to have a totally new bracelet put on this watch and all it needed originally was to be re-attached with a new pin. The company who repaired the watch told me it looked like it had been worked on by someone who did not know what they are doing. I have to agree. I would never ever recommend this shop to anyone. Mr. Alabaster seemed very nice but I wish he had been honest with me and told me he didnt know how to fix my watch rather than attempt it and screw it up. I have never seen anything like this, please dont go here if you want your item taken care of and fixed properly. You may get it back in worse condition than when you left it off. As a matter of fact the person who works for him thought it was not finished when he was handing me my watch back. I think it took him by surprise also how awful an over 1 thousand dollar watched looked. Beware!!!

The review below titled 'The 8th World Wonder' is about The Clock Shop of Vienna, not to be confused with John Alabaster. Having worked at The Clock Shop of Vienna for 10 years, knowing Aaron personally, and having delivered a grandfather clock or two myself on Christmas Eve i can assure you that this is who the poster meant.

Took my great grandfathers antique clock in to jerry the clock maker. He did a wonderful job repairing it, also it was troubled for him but he did everything he could to make it work. I took it to many other places and they could not do anything. This is a great place to go.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

When I 1st walked into the store, I noticed something different about this place. The customer service and the efficient of their employees were incredible. Every question I had they answered.
I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends.

I??ve used them many times over the past 7 years but the last 3 times over these past 2 years have been disappointing. The first was to install a battery movement in a replica clock. $65 got me nothing to hold it in place. I went to hand it vertically and the movement shift forward and would have fallen onto the floor had the clock not had a glass face.

Next was the wife??s Omega Seamaster watch. $275 which is not a bad price but 14 months later it again needed a battery, new seal, and new back. Apparently the back was installed and crimped the seal. This from the authorized Omega service center in PA.

Now I trusted him with a battery replacement in a Bulova. Easy enough ?? except the second hand was loose. Three weeks later and I am treated like a pest because I stopped by twice for a watch promised to me in 3 days.

Don??t go. Quality and customer service have suffered.

The Clock Shop offers a huge selection of fine clocks and service that you will simply not find in the DC area. It was Christmas Eve 2007 and like many other last minute shoppers I was looking for just the right gift and after visiting several Washington DC area clock shops, I finally found not just a perfect floor clock, but also something that I didn't expect to find in a Washington DC area business, a staff of folks, all family members, who were committed to not just making a sale, but also in starting a longer term service relationship. After encountering a season??s worth of rude drivers and equally rude sales people with clearly no vested interest in ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction, I was stunned to find such an exceptional shopping experience and quite frankly found myself not wanting to leave. Finally, to prove just how committed the Clock Shop Of Vienna is to building a long lasting customer relationship, they offered, YES OFFERED, to deliver and setup our clock AFTER they closed for the holiday. It was 2pm on Christmas Eve and within 2 hours of my purchase, Aaron, the owner??s son who was home from college for the holidays, delivered the clock wearing white gloves. After spending close to an hour setting up and demonstrating the features of the clock, our new floor clock is standing beautifully in our home. Folks, to witness the 8th world wonder, visit and see for yourself.

My watch recently stopped working. I thought it was a faulty battery but a new battery failed to fix my watch. I needed a professional so I took my watch to Alabaster John Watch & Clock Shop. They were able to quickly remedy the problem and they fixed my watch immediately. It is now working as good as new.

We have had watches repaired here - and it was always done quickly, and honestly. We were given fair and knowledgeable assessments on the life of the watches. They will replace batteries too. Prices are very reasonable for repairs and batteries, and you can even catch a sale on watches, too.
