I took a used car (I was about to purchase) for an inspection and was extremely glad I did. The mechanic immediately noticed a hairline crack in the engine, that I would have never noticed. The best part is they did not charge me and I immediately returned the "lemon" I was about to purchase. I was so impressed with their professionalism and recommend Progressive to anyone interested in an honest opinion/inspection before buying a used car.

I had been a loyal customer to Progressive till I started noticing a theme in the charges which were either $800 or $1000. They always told me what was going to break 'soon', which never did, by the way, and strongly suggested I fix it immediately. In a recent trip there my 'check engine' light was on. The estimated repairs came to over $800 parts and labor. I took it to FAS Auto Repair on Princess Anne Street and they cleared the code and said 'sometimes it is a computer malfunction - lets watch it for a few days and see what happens' (NO CHARGE) and then they fixed the balance of what needed to be done for $175. I was really saddened by the fact that Progressive didn't think to simply 'clear the code' and see if it was a computer malfunction. Like did you know that if you get gas with the car running it could trigger that code? Very disappointed that the owner of Progressive (who is a really nice guy) let's this kind of practice go on...not a 'small town service station' any more...

Progressive is tops in this area. A bit larger than many of the other shops, they still offer service with a local friendly flare. I've had tuneups, state inspections, and major air conditioning and engine work done here. They have never tried to get, or make me feel, that I should have extra or unnecesary work done. Only negative is that it's prices are high, but I feel their honesty and impeccable work is worth the extra price. Staff friendly and keeps the customers informed. Sends followup notices by mail.
