I am sad to report that this animal hospital has really changed in the last several years to the point I had to find new doctors for my pets. In my experience over the last several years, they are mostly interested in money and how many expensive tests they can get you to order verses the care and feelings of their patients and pet owners. If you do not want to order their over $750 blood work test, they make you feel like you are an awful person. After switching to another Manassas vet office, I also discovered that the prices are so much higher at Prince William Animal Hospital than most other places I checked in the area...over 30% higher. I sometimes wondered if the doctors were getting bonuses at the end of the month for the amount of tests and surgeries they recommended. Do yourself and your pet a favor and go somewhere else.

I took my lab in for a very painful and quickly forming large wound. They started poking at the wound, and he started to whimper, I even after I requested pain medicine for my dog they noted "even if I gave him something IV it would take 15 min for it to kick in" and they did not want to wait that long as there were other clients waiting in the waiting room. My dog was crying in my arms while they treated his painful wound in front of me. I hate to think what they would have done if It was done in the back room, or after surgery! My dog cowered for hours after this experience. I would never recommend this vet to anyone after this experience. I took my dog to the emergency vet a few days later as he was not getting better and it was over the weekend. They charged less money even at an emergency visit, they provided him with proper pain control, and then were able to adequately treat the wound. They also explained that some of the treatments I was told to preform by this vet would slow wound healing and kill off the newly forming tissue healthy tissue. At the end of the visit the vet dispensed a few pain pills but they were for a dog 1/2 his size, some antibiotic ointment, and some antibiotic pills. I am very disappointed to see my best friend treated this way. My sweet dog had to endure such pain for so long because the vet did not feel like waiting 15 min. I should have picked him up and taken him to another vet immediately.

My family and I have been going to PW Animal Hospital for 35 years or more. My animals have always received the best of care and the doctors are very caring and compasionate Vets! I have seen some of the Vets move on but those who took their place was just as caring and educated. I have never received a rude remark from any of the receptionist team at Pr. William Animal Hospital and find it very hard to beleive that any of them would intentionally treat any of their clients in a rude manner. Also, to justify any remarks about one feeling like they was murdering their animal because they don't agree with the Vets recommendation is another thing I find hard to beleive. I have had many pets put down their and never ONCE was I made to feel that I was doing the wrong thing.
The Vets at Pr. Wm Animal Hosptial care very much about the health and well being of the animals that are in their care and only wants what is the best thing for both owner and the pet.
As for having to bring in an animal before a prescription is issued, Vets have their reasons for not doing so, just like your MD. The overall health and what is going on with an animal should be monitored before the continuation of prescriptions are written out and handled out freely. I agree with the Vets, maybe that is because prescriping Meds alone are not always the answer to the overall health of an animal. To the Vets and the Staff at Pr. Wm. Animal Hosptial, continue to keep up the good work that you do, and don't change the way you passionaly feel about treating your clients pets. Bravo!

rude receptionist.

This young lady has been there quite a while and seems to chase all the friendly ones away.

I have been taking my two chihuahua's to Prince William Animal Hospital since they were babies. At first, I was very pleased for the first several months! The doctors were nice and very informative and the receptionist at the front desk were always the same two girls and really nice. Lately they have had a bit of change in staff and I'm not pleased at all. My dog recently needed to have surgery to have an undecended testicle removed and also get neutered. For the $525 it cost me, i'm VERY disappointed. This is my first dog so I don't know anything about the care of a dog after surgery and all I was handed was a discharge paper to sign and that's it. Absolutely ridiculous. The new girl at the front desk was a snooty little snob and didn't appreciate her attitude. I won't be returning to Prince William Animal Hospital. The work of the surgery looks poor and they didn't even provide a E'colar to keep my dog from licking the incision.

I have been going to Prince William for over 14 years and would not go
to any other vet. They are all great people and they always take the time to explain everything. I have been so lucky to have them watch over my dogs.

We had terrible experiences with Battlefield and changed to PW Animal Hospital. The staff is excellent. They have taken great care of our dog and he likes the vets--goes right in. I would recommend to anyone. Dr. Medici (Sp ?) is terrific.

This hospital has always had great doctors, friendly receptionists (sometimes a significant turnover rate though), and helpful and knowledgeable nurses. I would have stayed with them if I hadn't moved a while ago.

First, in response to Amnot t, I am very sorry at the loss of you cat. Cats are very dear to my family as well.My family has had exceptional care from Dr. Brown and her team. We had two senior cats with many issues that human seniors face as well. We lost one of our cats about 1 1/2 years ago and we now have one.The care for my cats has been far better than my husband and I have received by our doctors. All the Vets, Techs and Admin personnel were kept informed of our cats' issues, even when the issues required immediate attention over several weeks. This was/is impressive. When we had to work with specialists or through an acute situation, all the team members were kept informed and aware of our circumstances and potential emergency situations. When I brought my cat in following her a seizure, the admin specialist immediately realized the situation and took her back for immediate care. I wish I had that kind of care!!! I found the team understanding of our wishes as well as economic considerations. As for the cost of vet health care, I've lived around the country and yes, this area is one of the highest costs. In fact, vet care is very expensive, almost like human costs, however, Prince William Animal Hosp is well within the costs of others, and cheaper, for this area. The treatment of diabetic cats are well within those costs and inexpensive compared to other diagnostic and treatment costs.I believe anyone wishing to have a four legged member of the family should carefully consider the costs of care before committing to having a furry member of the family. They deserve reasonable care too! "Ownership" of four legged family members is not without responsibility and cost. I am very grateful to Dr. Brown and her team. It is the best all over Vet care my family has received and the entire team clearly is top notch!

My 17 year old cat was diagnosed with diabetes (after a series of very expensive tests i might add). The dr. led me to believe that I could cure him with insulin shots and that it would not be expensive, although I came to find out that it would in fact be very very very expensive, with multiple tests in even just one day at times, which would make him suffer, and he may not have survived. When I made my own personal decision to have him put to sleep because he was very very old and had lived a great life and I did not want him to suffer anymore, the Doctor there made me feel like a murderer. She did not call me a murderer, but she shamed me for not trying her treatments and giving it a try. I did not want him to suffer anymore and honestly just could not afford to experiment on him to see if it 'might work'. I will never ever return there, and I was a customer there for 10 years. I was very happy with them until the insensitiveness of that woman vet. I cannot remember her name. The nurses however, were very nice, as always, and helpful, and even stayed with me while I had to do this awful thing to my pet. While many might think it is awful to put your animals to sleep, as I even do, sometimes this is a choice that an owner must make for our loving pets and friends.

Please disregard the negative post entitled "Slow, disorganized and expensive. It was meant for Prince William Emergency Vet---NOT Prince William Animal Hospital. The similar names confused me. I have never been to this hospital. Sorry for the mistake.

After having a horrific experience at the Battlefield Animal Hospital on Sudley, finding PW Animal Hospital was a pot o' gold. The staff are patient and ever friendly. They took the time to put my dog at ease and make her feel comfortable. I love this animal hositpal. Great job!

I wanted to get another tube of ointment to treat my dogs ear infection. However I needed to spend the money on another vet visit ($90 last time). They would not authorize Petmeds to supply me with what my dog needed to relief his irritation. In my opinion this does not reflect care for their clients. They are very expensive.

I am very impressed with the services my puppy received during our visit to your well organized hospital. The office staff was very courteous & expedited us toward the exam room, the nurse was very informative and caring, and Dr. Brown was very passionate and professional. The entire staff worked seamlessly as a team. My puppy was examined with care, received her shots, and clipped her nails painlessly.

I have a dog that is like the Tazmanian Devil when you take him to the vet. The staff here goes out of their way to lessen the trauma to him whenever we come in. (He has to be anesthetized for a simple office visit.) They are extremely gentle and very concerned for his well-being.

They were equally wonderful with us when our ferret passed away.

Their prices are very reasonable, and are actually much cheaper than some of the other veterinary practices in the area.

Their prices are very reasonable

PROS: Very caring & excellent medical care
CONS: None

This clinic accepts all animals - big or small. Drs are very nice - welcoming to new patients. Treat animals with respect. I took my pets here as regular patients - and then for their final visit. Doctors were sympathetic to the situation and didn't rush through the procedure allowing us time to say our goodbyes. Would recommend this clinic to others and will take future pets there also.
