While in town for an exhausting litigation, I and eight others were in great need of a relaxed dinner. Manager Molly was refreshingly accommodating for our large group, and the waitstaff was equally efficient and friendly. The food was spot on ... my salad was perfectly dressed, beef cooked to order, and strawberry rhubarb cobbler so good that I hated to share it. The dining room has the casual comfort that only works if the food is superb, which it is. Kudos to all at Evening Star Cafe and many thanks for delivering exactly the experience we all needed. I will absolutely return the next time I am in town.

Pros: Customer-focused staff, interesting but not gimmicky menu

Once I thought of the Evening Star for special events, now it feels everyday. The kitchen always offers up perfectly prepared selections, and the service is consistently friendly and conscientious. The bar in back is great for meeting up with friends for cocktails, though like the restaurant itself, it is often too small for the crowd it commands. And you'll go back as much for the kitchy decor as the great food.

Pros: service, freshness

Cons: parking at times

I love this little restaurant in Del Ray. They have one of the best wine lists in the area. The popularity of this place though has led to this usually being very busy, so expect a short wait to get a table. The food is all of marvelous.

This cafe located in the Mount Vernon area serves a delicious brunch on Sundays. They have the traditional pancakes, eggs, and bacon, along with breakfast sausages and muffins. For lunch they have juicy burgers and grilled chicken

Evening Star is a gem in the funky Del ray neighborhood of Alexandria. It's sister store is a wine shop, which means you get offered surprising wines by the glass. The kitchen is electic/American and everything if fresh. The downside of

The place wants to be cutting edge electic. But I find it tries too hard to be different, esentailly making stuff that is not that good and overcharging for it. It does have a lovely wine list, but the dessert menu leaves this chocolate

We LOVE Evening Star -- the food is amazing... be sure to try the beef tenderloin on a bed of cheddar mashed potatoes and topped with onion crisps. YUM! They also have a great, very reasonably-priced Sunday brunch. In the back room, The
