Hayfield Animal Hospital is a shady establishnment.

Terrible boarding! the kennel size-to-price ratio was ridiculous. and the size kennel they were offering was entirely too small! my poor terrier came home nervous and on edge. she smelled like a barn yard and had a mysterious blue stained tongue, like she ate something strange. we left some soft toys, a blanket and an entire bag of her non-allergen vegetarian food NONE of which were returned to us. never again.

Hayfield Animal Hospital is a great place to take your pets for care
by christine w.
I have taken my dogs there for over 10 years and found the staff to be caring and professional. The vets there are the best. I always know in advance what the costs will be for any complex procedure.

Great experiences
by L S.
I had a great experience with this vet and will definitely go back while we are living in the area. We brought both our dog and cat for a yearly checkup and rec'd a lot of great information from the doctor, she was also very good with our pets. We took our cat in for a dental cleaning and again, they were excellent and even called for a follow-up to make sure she was doing okay. I recommend them.

Great Vets
by christine S.
I always have a great experience at Hayfield Animal Hospital. They take great care of my animals. THe doctors are great. In my experience, if I do not want to meet with a doctor and pay for a wellness exam/visit, they are willing to do the vaccines without charging me for a visit if I have just been there recently. And the doctor that some people are complaining about does not even work there anymore. if I do not want to run test on my dog that they recommend, they do not make me feel pressured to do so.

Not honest about their fees.
by Deb H.
I have boarded my dog here before and had billing issues with that. Went for shots yesterday, was quoted a price of roughly $60 prior. They conveniently forgot to mention the exam fee (said they're required by law to give one). I came out paying roughly $60 more than expected. They said they'd have to talk to the person who answered my phone questions. This is twice fooled. Shame on me. I'll not be back.

Taken advantage of....
by Jason R.
I had been taking my pet here for over 7 years and after yesterday, it will be the last time. My dog needed a rabies booster and bordatella shot. My gf called and asked if they could do those and how much it would be. They told her $57 dollars. Well I took the dog there and they did an exam and multiple tests without my knowledge. I refused to pay for the exam because she just had one 3 months ago. They told me they were required by law to give an exam if they gave a rabies shot. They DID NOT tell my gf that and she specifically asked. So instead of a $57 bill, my bill was $169 after they took the charge off for the exam. I felt like I was taken advantage of and I will not return to this facility.

Not worth it!
by Tiffany W.
I have taken my 13 year old dog to this place for boarding and when I returned 3 days later my bill was $626! The front desk person was RUDE and said that I specifically asked for my dog to be treated, which is NOT true. The doctor performed all of these tests on my dog WITHOUT calling me first and mind you, NONE of these test were for life threatening reasons. I will NOT being going back there.

GREAT Vet
by Kelly B.
My family has been taking our animals throughout the years to Hayfield Vet for over 20 years. They are very personable and care about you and you're pet.
I have a Yorkshire Terrier and 2 year's ago he got very sick and had to have a life or death emergency operation, that was quoted over $5,000 at another vet! Hayfield vet worked with us and cut the price in half! The doctor saved my little guy and we owe Hayfield vet and the staff his life. I could never be more grateful to them.
I also had a very ill Himalayan cat that was too sick to save. I took him to Hayfield vet and they were very sympathetic through the entire process. I now take my new kitten to them along with my four dog's, another Himalayan cat, & our raabit. I feel completely safe taking my pet's to this vet and trust they get the proper care. With having so many animal's, vet bill's can get pretty expensive! So, finding a good quality vet with reasonable pricing can be a challenge to find! Thankfully, I have Hayfield vet to turn to, as I know they will give you great quality care at a great price. I also love the new building! It's very clean and modern. I give Hayfield vet 5 star's!

the minimum?
by john s.
went there once and the doctor's english so sketchy that most statements had to be repeated. they also unlike any other place I have visited in seven years would not do the work like shots and the like in my presence, refused and had no good explanation. left me wondering if they did anything, frankly. heck, had to call several times to get an appointment because I have a 5min hold tolerance.
in short, not impressed with this hospital compared to the numerous I have seen during my frequently moving and seen quite a few days. unless for xrays, there is no reason they cannot administer shots and the like with you which helps keep the animal calm, etc.
it is there way or the highway, so thankfully the highway is loaded with plenty of vet hospitals and I recommend you research thoroughly unlike me before heading to this or any vet hospital.

The Very Best Ever !!!!!!!!!!
by Kathy P.
I Have been dealing with this hospital for 7 years, they are awesome.First, for my Black Lab T-Bone and now for our recent newest addition Emme our 3 month old Dacshund. Everyone here is great. They care about your pet as much as you do. We have beenrecently dealing with Dr. Mitchell the last 3 times she loves our Emme and she loves her. They take the time with you and they answer All of my questions. They are genuinely concerened about your animals.I love them !! I would go now where else.My puppy was up all night a week ago sick, I called them at 6:00 AM, they called right back to make an appointment.

Twice Burned
by Anonymous
10 years ago we had a lab that we brought there. The dog bit its feet continuously. Vet said it could be Graves Syndrome, $100 test. Then to treat with steroids, dog became incontinent, and had no effect. We then switched foods and gave benadryl, problem solved thanks to a friends suggestion.
My wife brought our rescue animal dog in to have the teeth cleaned, should have cost 200. She signed a waiver saying they could pull teeth if necessary. When she went to pick up dog, they had pulled 13 teeth, never called, and then charged 750.
We will put the word out in our neighborhood. I think the main goal is to get the maximum bill out of every pet visit, regardless of the impact on the animal.

Not Pleased
by Anonymous
The first thing that tipped me off that Hayfield was a sketchy clinic was the advice of a neighbor I met at a local dog park. When I asked about local vets she urged me not to go to Hayfield citing that they are not only expensive, but are pushy about suggesting unnecessary tests on your pet. Since the clinic is right around the block, I decided to use them anyway for convenience sake. We took our dog in for a check up when he had diarrhea after we had boarded him (at another location) and my first guess was that he had contracted worms. The doctors would not even entertain this possibility until they had done $275 worth of tests on my dog which included multiple injections. I ended up overpaying for what could have been a simple $40 fecal lab to determine what I had already suspected. Long story short....you are better off driving a farther distance to find a better vet.

Wonderful experience
by Amanda s.
I have been a client here for 6 years. The doctors are great and take exceptional care of my cat and dog. They always spend a lot of time with me explaining any issues my animals may have. They do not rush you in and out of the door like some animal clinics I have been to in the past.

Overall great vet
by michelle w.
I really liked the staff, everyone is nice. They are very capable of handling my older, temperamental Chihuahua. The vet took ample time to talk to me give me options for his treatment. The boarding prices are very reasonable.

I take my three basset hounds to Hayfield Animal Hospital and the staff and vets are first class. This is the third vet practice I have used in the area and I would recommend them to anyone. Excellent care and very thorough.

This is a very nice hospital. However, everytime I have been there, I dont feel comfortable. I have not been there in quite some time now so maybe things have changed. When I was using this hospital the staff was very short and seemed too busy to even try and have a conversation. The Vet was nice but they didnt spend much time talking with you about what they were doing and what was wrong. I had to ask a lot of questions and even some of those were short answered. I would drive the extra couple miles to go to a vet that cared about mine and my pets feelings a little more!
