I own a 2007 Nissan frontier and recently had it serviced at Pohanka Nissan in Fredericksburg. I would like to point out one outstanding individual there, Angela who is one of the service advisors, had my car in on Dewc 28th, it was excellent, they are professional, great workmanship, courteous to customers, and work within a customers budget.

My 19 yr old son came in to purchase a vehicle and after discussing the price and trade amount decided to sleep on it. When he came in the next day the agreement wasn't as we understood it and going to cost him considerably more than he could afford. He left that night upset and planning not to purchase from Pohanka. We spoke to Tim Pohanka about the problem that evening and he offered to give him the deal as he understood it. What would have been a terrible experience turned out well because Tim Pohanka stood behind his name and the deal as was made understood by his representatives.

I purchased my 2005 Hyundai Tiburon at Pohanka Hyundai of Fredericksburg in July 2005. June 2009, I had to replace the air conditioning unit. Which cost around $1,800.00. In July 2010 the air conditioning went out once again. I took it back to Pohanka. I was told it just needed Freon, which cost $150. 1 Day later hot air continued to blow out. I took it back and 2 days and $800 later was told it was fixed. Upon getting into my vehicle the radio screen was showing random numbers, volume with not go up or down and was muffled, and the air only worked on the two highest levels (but at the same speed). So once again it was taken back in. This time 3 days later it's finally fixed for another $277 and the radio will cost me another $350 to fix. even though it's ovbious they created the radio problem but stated those wires were alredy cut. Funny how I never had any other issues with the radio for the past 5 years. So, even though my air was never fixed in the first place, and my vehcile has more problems now than before,it does no good to try to haggle with them. It is clear this is how they stay in bussiness. By creating other issues within the vehicle to charge more. No one seems to know what they are doing. Never again will I go to Pohanka Hyundai to purchase or service my vehicle, and will advise everyone I know to do the same.

Bought a 2006 Honda Civic in March 09. Salesperson was nice, but when asked to take $800 off the price of used car, the manager of Pohanka Honda in Fredericksburg, VA, gave us major attitude and was mean and rude, acting like he was going out of his way. He ended coming down only a few hundred dollars, but I knew it was a decent deal, so I bought the car. Three days later, the battery went dead!!! I had to get it towed to nearest dealership and Pohanka Honda refused to cover it with CERTIFIED USED CAR WARRANTY! Also, light on dash was not working when I bought the car and Pohanka refused to fix it under the WARRANTY again! (Honda Certified Used) we were told is bumper-to-bumper. They considered the light out to be ??normal wear and tear? even though it was like that when I bought it. I will never buy from them again!!!! COLONIAL HONDA in Chester, VA was much better with previous car purchase?I will buy from them again!!!

We have taken our SUV in for service several times. They have been friendly and have given us several "deals" on service that they didn't have to. We were given a discount on a very expensive service as well as a rental car under circumstances they weren't obligated to. We appreciate that they go above and beyond in their service department. This certainly hasn't been the case at other dealerships we have been to.

As far as car dealerships go, this one is fine. They treated us like I have been treated by any other person/business who was trying to sell me something. They obviously wanted the sale and our salesman (BJ) was willing to work for it. We test drove a few cars before deciding on our 2008 Honda Civic. The salesman was nice, cooperative, willing to work with us and willing to listen to our concerns.
The transaction was completed in a timely manner, with most of it being finished on a Saturday, and then the completion on Monday .
Since buying the car we have only had one oil change done there and that was a smooth process as well. We were in and out in a relatively short amount of time, and the first oil change was completely free!

I've tried on 3 separate occasions to schedule service with Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg and all I ever get is their answering machine (if you don't believe me try it yourself). But the real kicker is that they never return my voice mails. How do they stay in business like that. I'm in the market to by two new Hondas and I won't go to them. It's funny, I googled them to get information so that I could send an email to their Executive Management about the poor business practices of their service department and saw one review of another patron that says they do not recommend Pohanka of Fredericksburg for 2 reasons, poor service department (my same complaint) and unfair markup of sales price of a vehicle. That person inspired me to join this Insider Pages blog specifically to complain about Pohanka. Before you buy anything from them, check their service department and if they haven't made some improvements, I say send them a message by not doing business with them!

PROS: They obviously don't care about their customers
CONS: Service department never answers their phone and never returns their vmails

This dealer is probably a typical dealer, but there is no way I could recommend them to anyone. For the years I have owned my car I have had numerous problems, starting with them jacking up the agreed upon sales price to scheduling problems for repairs
