School House Fabrics

I am from Miami, Fl and taking in this area of Va. Just tripped over this marvelous fabric experience and fell in love. I could have stayed for hours and hours of blissful browsing and shopping but my husband (reading his book in the car ) got restless. The bargain barn in the back of the store was incredible!!! By the pound the fabric is sold, way to go. Too bad it is so far away.

Fabulous! Never open late enough, though, if you work during the day. It takes some time to get there (if you don't live in Floyd), so trips are reserved for a Saturday. Definitely worth the trip. Huge selection, very knowledgeable.

The motto is "Come Spend The Day" and it is exactly what I have wanted to do each of the about 30 times I've been to School House Fabrics. There is a whole room dedicated to buttons, notions, and trims. Another room is full of quilting fabric. There's also a room full of craft type stuff and another full of themed material (kids, sports, animals etc..) That's the entry level floor. There
is a full floor above and another below as well as another building that houses foam and large lots of material. If they don't have it, you don't need it.

I enjoyed my visit to The Schoolhouse Fabric store this past week. I was searching for fabric to use in a quilt to be displayed in the VA Quilt Museum for the Jamestown 400 year anniversary and found exactly what I needed. The staff was most helpful and their fabrics are so interesting and different. Worth the trip!

I have visited this place on several occasions and have always found the staff to be among the best there is. They are there to help find exactly what I need. The store is an old school house...hence the name and it is huge. They have every kind of material I could ever want and also have thread and other crafting supplies. They are A-1 in my book.

PROS: Great selection and great staff
