.

I bought a mattress from Mattress King (a Serta) in September of 2009. Since then, this mattress has become the worst sleeping bed I have ever had. My fiance and I have to roll up hill to get out of bed. After a year of having this mattress and being out of the country for three months (meaning no one slept on the mattress) I called Mattress King to see the requirements of the warranty (which is a 10year warranty).

I was told I would have to pay $60 and Mattress King would contact an inspection company. After a week of not hearing from Mattress King or an inspector, I called Mattress King and their response was - call Randy, and gave me his phone number. I called Randy who introduced himself as Randy from Precision Inspection and set up an appointment - something Mattress King was supposed to have done for me. I scheduled an appointment and Randy was a no-show - on a day I had taken off from work to make this happen. After about another two weeks of no contact from anyone, I called Randy back again and re-scheduled - this time I got lucky and he showed.

I called Mattress King to let them know of this issue and was told their customer service headquarters would be in touch.

Kyle (no last name - phone number 804-360-7071) called later that night to discuss the issue. After thanking him for taking the time to call and telling him that I wanted to give him the full story, his exact words were - I don't have time for the full story... But I told him most of it anyway. His response was basically very rude telling me that this was not Mattress King's problem. I tried again to let him know that Mattress King was the point of sale, point of inspection coordination, and the point of customer service. I was appalled by his response when he blatantly said - Sir, I really don't care... and proceeded to hang up the phone on me.

I called him back to politely discuss the issue and after identifying myself, his response again was - I don't care and this isn't our problem, please don't contact us again.

This is a perfect example of how to lose customers. If you need to buy a mattress, please do not go to any Mattress King in an effort to not reinforce poor customer service. If they didn't care about me, they wont care about you!

We purchased a Serta mattress that became defective in the first four months. Mattress King charged me $75 to deliver a new identical mattress. The new mattress developed a significant dip in the center after two nights of being slept on by a 112 pound individual. The manager of Mattress King says she isn't responsible for the problem, and would charge to have the replacement mattress inspected and then charge again to have another mattress delivered. When asked if the defective mattress could be replaced with the next step down Serta mattress, the manager said she would have to charge an EXTRA $100 for this downgraded model that retails for $100 less, so that she can cut her loss. What loss? This is a terrible place to do business. The warranty is as good as the business ethics of the store where you purchase the mattress. The store manager of Mattress King says they aren't responsible for product defects.
