My wife and I met the owner when he was first opening the restaurant almost 10 years ago and we've watched it grow over the years. the one thing I most pleased with is the fact that the quality of the food and service is just as great as it was from day one. If you enjoy great sushi, this is a "must visit location".

Yama is a great place to have sushi. Owner "Bob" is very hands on and this adds value to the place because he is always checking that employees are doing a great job for the customers. Owner makes friends easily and often at the sushi bar some free sushi pieces are coming your way. Because of the freebies at the sushi bar, I often tip 20% to show my appreciation. Sushi is fresh and the best part is that the prices are reasonable, best I found in Northern VA sushi places. Go during lunch and you can get the Yama lunch boxes specials for under $10 bucks...you will walk away full. Nearby is a donut shop and a Diary Queen for some dessert. Reservations recommended on Friday and Sat. nights. Oh yes, they do have cooked food for your non-sushi loving friends.

We found this place more than 4 years ago and have been going there since. We have tried other highly rated sushi restaurants in the metro area but keep coming back to Yama for its consistently good sushi (the nigri melts in your mouth) and great prices. If you come on the weekend, make a reservation because it gets packed!

Sushis, Shashimi or any other Japanese foods prepared fresh and to perfection. As popular as it is with reasonable prices (how rare in the Tysons Area these days) at 7-8 Friday and Sat don't be surprsed to have a little wait - but don't fear it is well worth it. Down home sushi house where the natives of the orient go. Always delicious with a great selection to chose from - watch your food being prepared from the sushi bar. Always had pleasant attentive service and love a Kirin or Asahi with it too.

Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious, Clean

With its aroma of freshly hewn wood, this tiny Japanese eatery specializes in offbeat sushi offerings. Good choices include everything from the classic nigiri sushi wof salmon roe and flounder to such fanciful goods as the crispy salmon…
