I recently relocated to Fredericksburg and took my cat who was lethargic and had not eaten or consumed water for over 48 hours. After admitting my cat to the hospital (they still could not determine the problem) I was pressured by not only Dr. Washington, but the owner Dr. McAuliffe to purchase monthly flea/heartworm medication for my cat. Other than saying that my cat tested positive for FeLV, with a seriously low white blood count, they could not diagnose why my cat was now lethargic and not eating and drinking. Their primary concern was trying to sell me a monthly flea/heartworm treatment - and all the while I'm crying because they told me his prognosis wasn't good and essentially I will have to make a decision to have him euthanized!!
This "animal hospital" does not even begin to emulate the philosophy of St. Francis Assai.

I'm grateful to Dr. Olson not only for the kindness he's shown to me and my dog but for being investigative and not just saying "live with it" when my dog had a problem. He's done surgery on her and called several times to check on the patient once she got home. Nope, St. F. is not cheap, but I give it the highest possible rating because of the staff and vet care, particularly from Dr. Olson. They know my dog and treat her wonderfully. Best of all, when we arrive at the vet, my dog jumps right out of the car and walks in the door with her tail high and wagging--she likes to go there and get lots of attention.

Dr. Olson is a wonderfully compassionate and effective vet. The staff there at St. Francis is also very good. It isn't cheap, but do you want your pets to have cheap care? Try comparing the prices there with anywhere else--especially with the emergency places! Dr. Olson takes the time to explain the medicine and does not treat you like an idiot just because you haven't been to vet school. He advises you of the options and only does what you authorize. Dr. Olson is obviously an animal lover and understands that pets are family members and gives their treatment the time and thoroughness it deserves. By the way, it's "thieves" not "thiefs".

We brought our wheaton terrier in to the Dr. because he had soft stool and a fever. $634. later he was given one shot and some antibiotics. They promote that the Dr. visit was $49 when it was really $250 for the Dr. to look at an xray and say yeah antibiotics.
They are thiefs that smile at you, never go ever.
