I work at Town Center and stopped by Gloria's Bakery to purchase home made baked goods for a gathering. I purchased about 6 brownies, a loaf of apple bread and an order of lumpia. The system for ordering, cooking and serving food is non existant. When I walked in there was one person standing at the counter being paying. After taking care of him, the young woman went back into the kitchen where she remained for at least 10 mins appearing periodically to call out someone's name and hand them an order. By the time she came back to wait on me there was a line of about 8 people waiting behind me. My order came to about $17. She packaged the bake goods and gave them to me but I had to wait for the lumpia. And wait I did. I am not exaggerating when I state that I waited about 20 mins. By this time there was another huge line of people waiting to be served so I stuck my head into the kitchen and asked if my order was ready. The woman in the kitchen walked over to what was obviously a pan of pre cooked lumpia and put 6 pieces in a bag. She then had to go out front to check with the counter girl because apparently there was no order slip. Did I mention the woman who came in, saw a line of about 8 men and spoke to the counter lady in their native tongue and the counter girl wrote it down and delivered it to the kitchen? When I exited (after 40 mins) I saw that there were 2 cars doubled parked and blocking me in. One of the cars belonged to the 'special lady' who was able to jump to the front of the line with her order and another 'gentleman' (sic) who was 3rd in line and wanted me to wait until after he ordered. I objected; he left the line but became aggressive when I did not, in his words, 'ask nice.' (sic) Finally he did move his car after I told him that I was calling the police.
Was the food good? The lumpia was good. BUT, not good enough to offset the worst experience I have ever had at a retail establishment in Va. Beach.

Every time my parents have a party, they always get food from Glory's Bakery. It is freshly prepared and tastes awesome! Make sure you call ahead in plenty of time for them to get your order ready. Last minutes are not very welcome!

Glory's Bakery is an Oriental grocery store which also offers baked goods. The store is small, but they have a majority of the things that you would need to make a simple Asian dish. They don't offer vegetables, meat, or fish so if you're in search of those, either try another Oriental store or go to the grocery store nearby. Need a bag of rice? You can get them here...

If you're in a rush, try their pandesal or their pepperoni bread. The pandesal is great for dunking in that fresh brewed, hot coffee. The pepperoni bread is great any time! They also have sausage if that's what you prefer.

Glory's Bakery also offers knick-knacks imports.
