Bissell Michael Dvm - Springfield Animal Hospital

I've been taking my dogs to this vet office since Dr Bissell took over the practice. I do agree that sometimes things get busy but when it's our turn to see the doc - whomever we are seeing - they take the time to go over everything, and I usually get a follow up call if there was something wrong to make sure things are improving. I've since moved so they are a bit of a drive but I'm happy with their service so I don't look for anything more "convenient". I know if I have a question or a concern they will take me seriously and investigate all avenues - I wish my own doctor was so thorough!

I think they are a great hospital. I have been using this hospital for 2 years or so after my husband was transferred to the Washington area. They were recommended by a couple of neighbors. They always do what is right for the animal and have always put the animal's care and health before all else. They seem very honest and it is a pleasure to have them as our families vet. I feel blessed to have found them and value their compassion and care. I highly recommend them and though they are pretty busy these days and it seems to be getting busier it is worth the wait. Mornings seem less busy but if you call a couple days ahead of time you can be seen anytime.

This hospital is truly extraordinary. The receptionists are a great blend of cute and smart. The technicians are fantastic - smart and really know what is going on.
we worked with Laurie and really above average. We worked with Dr. Bissel and though he was late for the appointment - he was very busy and got the job done. It is so funny how our dog loves him. Definitely has the whole 'dog whisperer' thing going. Any way this is the place to go when you other family member needs help.

I've been taking my dog to Springfield Animal Hospital for all of his 14 years and they have been wonderful. The doctors and staff are very caring and knowledgeable, and they have always been able to see my dogs the same day I call for an appointment.

We had to bring our basset hound in today and this place was great. They were very busy but made time to surgically biopsy my dog and do a very thorough workup. He will be transferred for advanced cancer treatment but this place was fantastic. Compassionate and quality. I have a very high regard for the professionalism and honest caring that was shown today. I highly recommend this hospital. Laurie, the technician was fantastic!

I had to wait way too long on a Saturday - however - it was worth it! It was the first time I have been to this hospital and I was getting frustrated waiting but I could see it was very busy and the front staff were all very nice. The Doctor was great and the techs (Kathy?) were fantastic. Thorough exam and quality was there. Unbelievable x-rays! My thoughts are - try and avoid Saturdays but this is where you want to bring your best friend! I can see why they are crowded...

We just purchased 2 Golden Retriever puppies and have been to the Springfield Animal Hospital twice with them. We have seen Dr. Bissel both times and have had a very good experience and excellent care. They were recommended by the emergency clinic and though they are little far from our house I've decided it is worth the drive. Very knowledgeable staff and treated our 1 sick puppy expertly and successfully. I highly recommend this hospital.

We just took our 4 month old puppy for her first check up and it was a great experience. Everyone in the office was very friendly. Dr. Berman was very through and informative. We were in and out of the office within 45 minutes after a full physical and 2 vaccination shots. Very pleasant visit, would highly recommend.

I just spent the last hour at this hospital and I felt very good about my first visit. The receptionist (Kelly?) was a good combination of professional and cute. My older Grey hound was scared to death but everyone was very sweet to him. Dr. Berman was busy but had a nice caring way about her. I had a good, trusting feeling about the clinic and will definitely recommend and keep coming back.

I did quite a bit of research on various pet clinics before deciding on Springfield Animal Hospital. I needed to have my cat spayed and luckily, Springfield AH works with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to participate in a low-cost spay/neuter program, that doesn't restrict you based on income. I was able to save between $150-200, and the service was wonderful! The front desk staff were attentive and friendly and the veterinarian was genuine. When I left a message for her regarding a question about my cat's blood work, she called me back within an hour to thoroughly explain the answer. And best of all, my cat doesn't seem to even notice that she's recently had surgery! I would definitely bring my cat there again!

I lost a sweet kitten, Larry, a few months ago to FIP, and when his brother Curly fell ill this january, I just about lost it. Even though I know FIP can't be treated or cured, I still feel so guilty for losing Larry. Dr. Bissell was so kind. He really understands that my boys are like my babies, and the pain of losing one is so unbearable. He was very busy that day, but he personally came in to visit and reassure me that my little boy did not have FIP like his brother and he would get better soon. I cannot fully express how much I appreciate the compassion Dr. Bissell and his staff showed me on that day. Nothing can replace that- I only wish human doctors were so caring. Springfield Animal Hospital has a devoted patient for life.

It was busy but I felt in good hands and Dr. Bissell was very nice. It was very caring feeling with the nurses and my dog 'Diego' definitely like him and the nurse. Which I might add was rare. Any way I definitely like the hospital/staff and felt the like I was treated very well.

If you love your animals, you'll use this hospital! Dr. Phillips is the best!!! She attends to all of my cats, she knows their history very well, is very knowledgeable, patient, and kind. I had been to several other hospitals in the Alexandria/Springfield area and this place is by far, the best!! The whole process is highly professional and compassionate -- from the customer service with scheduling an appointment to the follow-up call for treatment results. They are not about the money, as some hospitals seem to focus on, they are about the best care for your pet! I am so glad that I found this place for my cat babies!!!

The doctors are nice and knowledgeable but seem extremely overworked and rushed all the time. Never spent less than an hour. Very impersonal treatment. Not flexible with appointment times.
I guess your animal is in good hands but I prefer the more caring personal route.

For well over 20 years and numerous pets, the vets and staff here have served us with professionalism, skill and compassion. Even though we've moved from Springfield, we couldn't think of changing vets.

I just love this place. People and vets are really nice. My older schnauzer still likes going there. It's always been fun in the waiting room. Other people there have been nice and although Jake is older he still comes in there glad to see everyone. They seem like they genuinely like him. I highly recommend the hospital.

They get busy but the are honest and they truely love animals and will get them taken care of. Very smart crew and Dr. Bissell seems to be a great surgeon. I totally trust their decisions and my pets (Poodle and Beagle) love this place!!! I highly recommend taking then there. They are sweet and compassonate people.

This was the second hospital I had been to and they found the problem in minutes. They are truely great and friendly and compassonate. Although my pet had stomach cancer it was surgically removed there ultimately we referred to an oncologist for follow up care and so far so good. They got the job done fast and efficiently and with honest compassion. I love that place.

They always seem busy but the younger Cornell lady Dr. is soo caring compassionate and always seems to truly care and calls us back. I love her. Building is old but alot of new equipment and very warm comfortable feeling. I know they are AAHA +++ rated and got a Consumer excellent rating. Anyway we love them and Scamp actually runs in there like he likes the place.

I took my two female cats in to be spayed on Friday. Everyone on the staff treated both cats like they were their own. They immediately took them out of the carrier. They called right after the surgery to let me know they were OK. They called two days later to see how they were doing. When I took them in for their follow up, everyone of the technicians AND the vets came in to give them both hugs. I couldn't have been happier.

On top of that, they participate in the spay.org spay/neutering program. I received substantial discounts on their spaying. It was well worth it, and then some.

We have been taking our dog here since she was 6 weks old and everyone there is super!! They really care about your pet and will do everything they can to help...You can call for an appointment and almost get one right away..Boarding is super also..I have all the trust in the world to board my pet here...Very caring ...Very gentle

Our cat got attacked by a wild animal in our back yard, and had a serious wound to his right rear leg. They stitched him, and made the repairs to the muscle and it healed beautifully. He is getting around like nothing ever happened. This was his 2nd brush with danger and he's come through both times with flying colors thanks to Springfield.
