The true measure of service is what happens when something goes wrong. We have used Sunset 3 times and they have always been wonderful, sympathetic, kind and caring. This time there was a small misunderstanding. At 2 am my dog passed away at the animal hospital and I called for a pick up for later that morning. At 11 or noon I called and they had not made the pick up, apparently something didn't get passed along correctly. I was a little upset but understood accidents happen. They assured me the would go immediately and also would perform the service that day and I would be able to pick up his remains that same day. They also apologized several times and said they would wave the pick up fee. This was extremely nice of them an unnecessary - a nice apology is all most people need. Later the manager called me and apologized profusely. I let them know I was fine and it was not a huge deal. She said I could even have a free urn, which was totally unnecessary. When I did go to pick up they asked if I wanted my free urn. We had not planned on an urn, but even so would not have accepted it free. I appreciate how hard it is to run a small business and that was way beyond what was necessary. So I pulled out my credit card to pay for the cremation and they said no charge. I said, no, that was just for the pick up, not cremation. No they said, you money is not good here. I tried to insist but they would not let me. No way I was going to take a free urn too!
So these guys are great and I highly recommend to anyone. When you are at the depths of sadness and call, they a professional and kind and don't talk money, it make a very hard thing easy.
Open 24/7 and even on ALL holidays. Wow.

Sadly, while we were in California, we received word from our friends who were petsitting that one of our pets had died. I quickly used my husband's iPhone to Google for pet crematory services and found all of these wonderful reviews. Thank you, everyone! After calling and speaking to Robin, I knew we were in good hands. She was compassionate and quickly discerned that I would need to come in and say my goodbyes, so she offered to hold Chuck for me until I could return from my trip. (My husband is active duty Navy and on a scheduled detachment in California, so he wasn't going to be able to come back in time.) When I arrived, I met Tina who graciously welcomed me and thoughfully arranged Chuck in a very dignified setting so I could be with him in private and say my goodbye. She brought me tissues and cared for me in a very compassionate way. Great communication from both Robin and Tina helped me during this difficult time and I never once felt pressured to make decisions or choices that I wasn't ready to make. Sunset also has a great web site and an outstanding selection of memorial urns at good prices. Again, there was no pressure at any time, just compassion and resourcefulness. I am appreciative for the available selection -- when my last pet died the facility had no real inventory from which to choose. I am now considering transferring him to another, better memorial urn and they offered to do it for me. Last, Sunset also has some nice books to help children process the death of a pet. These are great folks and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

We have had the unfortunate experience of losing several pets over the years - beloved kitties that we raised from birth and two birds found as nestlings and raised by us. Today, we lost the third of four brother kitties (now 14 yrs old), and we will take him this evening to Sunset to complete his walk over the Rainbow Bridge. They have provided excellent service, and we feel confident the cremations are done individually and not in a heap. They are respectful and very professional and that helps very much in our times of grief.

I had a terrible experience with another pet crematory service, Heavenly Days, which essentially "stole" my poor cat's body from the animal shelter where he was temporarily being held. The manager at Heavenly Days was so rude, I was nearly out of my mind with grief and anger. I made my decision to go to Sunset after reading all the great reviews. And they were all true. As soon as I brought my cat in the door, the receptionist went into the back and rolled out a large stainless steel cart covered with fresh white linen. I laid my cat on the linen, and the woman told me to take all time I needed. Once I said my goodbyes, she discreetly had me fill out some paperwork and told me I could return to pick up the ashes when I was ready. The front room is quiet and soothing, arranged like a comfortable library with floor to ceiling bookshelves. As hard as it was to lose my pet and to deal with the terrible people at Heavenly Days, Sunset warmed my heart with their sincerity and caring. I am very grateful to them and give them an exceptional rating.

We had the unfortunate circumstances to loose three of our dear house cats, all within 1 year. The emotional toll was unimaginable. Sunset representatives were a pleasure to work with, despite the trying situations. They offered a quick cremation, and the vessels in which to place the remains were tasteful and very appropriate. They will pick up at the clinic or house and call as soon as the remains are available. Highly recommended.

These people are the best. They are very personable and are sensitive people. They truely are better than most "human" services that I have been involved with. I cannot recommend them enough.
5I BROUGHT MY DOG TO BE CREMATED TO THIS PLACE, AND THE ATTENTION WAS SUPERB, FROM THE TIME THE I CALL TO THE MOMENT I PICKED THE ASHES.
I FELT THEY DO REALLY CARE, AND FEEL FOR THE LOSS OF PEOPLES PETS, BECAUSE OF THE PERSONAL ATTENTION AND THEY ARE AFFORABLE.
IT WAS AFTER HOURS BUT THEY LET ME BRING MY PET TO THEN WITHOUT ANY EXTRA CHARGE, THEY EVEN ASK ME HOW HE DIED AND THINGS ABOUT HIM.

Outstanding, compassionate services. They were unbelievably helpful and went beyond anything I ever expected to assist during the loss of a greatly loved pet. Would travel from anywhere to use them if needed. Reasonable prices.
