.

My daughter (5 years old) has attended Blue Ridge Gymnastics for a year now in the Danville gym. She has had several instructors and has had positive experiences with all of them. She is being taught the correct way to perform gymanstics. She is encouraged to practice in the home. Instruction is given to the parents to help facilitate practicing at home as well. The kids are taught to follow directions and take turns as well.

They are rewarded when able to complete tasks. They are also given stamps each night if they listen well. There are no uniforms to buy. They allow observation once per month and at the end of each class. The kids are given certificates when they complete a class complete with a small party (cookies and drink).

There are different age groups available. There are classes for cheerleaders to learn tumbling moves. The main gym is in Martinsville - and you can go there for open gym nights to practice as well (for a small fee usually). For the pre-school age they have worked on floor (forward and backward rolls, cartwheel, handstand, etc), trampoline, pommel horse, uneven bars, and balance beam.

There is a yearly registration fee and a monthly fee. The price depends on the age range.

PROS: Teaches fundamentals, self-esteem, following directions, etc.
CONS: Open gym night at Martinsville gym
