Flavorless cakes, overly sweet frostings. Ive seen better looking cakes come out of a high school home ec class. Its not that they are terrible. It's fine, if its at a grocery store. But, for the amount of money they charge its ridiculous.

I distinctly remember one occasion when I was in elementary school when my mother was asked to bake cupcakes for a school function. Now, Mom was an okay cook - it's hard to mess up cupcakes from a mix anyway - but I begged her to save herself the hassle and buy the cupcakes from Cake Pantry instead. After all, their cakes were - and continue to be - absolutely delicious. Homemade just could not compare.

Flash forward many moons, and I turned to Cake Pantry for my wedding cake - the taste hadn't changed, and they did a great job duplicating my cake from a picture I brought into the shop. They also had the perfect cake topper waiting for me on their shelves - as well as a mind-boggling array of cake decorations and party supplies for any occasion imagineable.

My daughter celebrated her first birthday this past February, and guess where her cake came from? No way would I attempt to bake something so important - nope, Cake Pantry handled it with gusto. I had been searching for a Boohbah cake - her favorite kiddie television character at the time - with zero success. The fine folks at Cake Pantry asked me to bring in one of the napkins I'd bought for the party, scanned it and turned it into a cake. It was gorgeous - and delicious.

Their staff is exceptionally friendly, their turn-around time very quick, and their prices just can't be beat. A sheet cake to feed 25 for the birthday party was less than $20 (and this with custom scanning on the cake), and a recent inquiry for a small wedding cake - about the size of a typical top layer on a cake - revealed that they'd charge me a whopping $8. Wow. I was expecting much, much more.

I tell all of my friends about Cake Pantry, and can't recommend it highly enough. It's the ONLY place we'll buy a cake from - after all these years, homemade still can't top them.

PROS: DELICIOUS cake; great prices; friendly staff; huge stock of party supplies.
CONS: N/A
